He was born November 26, 1915, in Vernon, California, a son of Erin D. and Emma Jane "Jennie" Boley Bigler. He married LaVerne Whitehead on June 10, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. Dr. Bigler was raised in Huntington Park, California, where he graduated from Huntington Park High School, Class of 1934. He received his B.S. from Loyola University in 1938, graduated from USC Medical School in 1942, and served his MD Internship and residency at Queen of Angels Hospital. He served as President of Staff at Queen of Angels Hospital in 1965, President of the Tuberculosis & Health Association in 1969, on Staff with Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital and St. Vincent's Medical Center, Committee Member of the California Heart Association, and Co-Owner and Chief of Staff of the Temple Community Hospital. He freely gave a lifetime of service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dr. Bigler served his country in the U.S. Marines, during WWII, as Battalion Surgeon, Lieutenant, 4th Service & Supply, in Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Green Beach 1 1/2, from 1944 to 1946. Huntington Park, California was Dr. Bigler's home for 75 years, after which he moved to St. George, Utah, where he lived for 11 years, then to Scottsdale, Arizona, where he has called home for the past three years. Dr. Bigler's life was one of giving to others, as he served his family, community, country, and God in so many ways. His life profession as a medical doctor blessed so many friends with his healing hands and spirit. He testified of faith being the power by which the worlds are and were created, and a power which needed to grow within us. He loved to write his children, and also paint and make jewelry for them. Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, raising orchids, painting, and lapidary. Raising orchids was an medium through which he found love and excitement with each recipient. Dad, while we will miss you, we know that you are in a better place, able to be with Mom and other family members. Love you, Dad! Surviving family include his: children, Gean, Jeanette, Robert, Nancy, Donald, Susan, and Roscoe; and brothers, Gean and John. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at the Creekside Ward Chapel, 20801 Marcon Dr., Walnut, CA. Visitations will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2004, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 East Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ, Friday, December 3, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., and again Saturday, December 4, 2004, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m., prior to services, both at the Creekside Ward Chapel. A graveside dedication will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 S. Workman Mill Rd., Whittier, CA, Gate #16, Nauvoo Lawn Section, Lot 236. Arnold Alba Boyer PAROWAN -- Arnold Alba Boyer, age 88, passed away November 17, 2004 at the Iron County Nursing Home in Parowan, Utah. Arnold was born on August 2, 1916 in Hagerman, Idaho. He married Alice Ward in February of 1960 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Arnold was born in Idaho but grew up in Lone Pine, California. He then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and was a long time resident before moving to Parowan. He worked at Cashman Cadillac and later as an appraiser for Clark County. Arnold is a life member of the B.P.O.E. He enjoyed hunting and traveling. Arnold especially enjoyed exploring Nevada's historical sites. Arnold is survived by his wife, Alice Boyer, son Terry Boyer, daughter-in-law Cheryl, granddaughter Sandi, grandson Sean, Sean's wife Carmen, three great grandchildren Zachary, Erika, & Wyatt, stepson Sam, two stepdaughters, JoAnn & Toni and their families. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at the Parowan Methodist Church in Parowan, Utah. Remington Lufkin Davenport St. George -- Remington Lufkin Davenport, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 27, 2004, in St. George, Utah. He was born September 25, 1918, in Hood River, Oregon to Franklin Remington Davenport and Kate Naomi Lufkin Davenport. He married Vivian Elida Snow in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 21, 1946. Remington was a veteran of World War II in the U. S. Army. He served overseas for 33 months in an evacuation hospital as a medic. He graduated from Dixie College and Utah State University. He taught Industrial Arts in Milford, UT, Richfield, UT, and Torrance, CA for 35 years. emington was an active lifelong member of the LDS Church. He served in the St. George LDS Temple and held various positions in the church throughout his life. Remington took great pride in making gifts in his workshop for others. He loved to read and enjoyed the outdoors. His greatest joy came from his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Vivian of 58 years and four of his six children; Marcus (Cheri) Davenport, Brent (Janice) Davenport, Merryn (Wayne) Martin, Machell (Roger) Bartlett, twelve grandchildren, two brothers; Rodney Davenport, Myron Davenport. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at 11 A.M., at the Green Valley LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 511 S. Valley View Dr. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, from 9:30-10:30 A.M., prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-4221. Reva H. Nelson 1913 - 2004 Hurricane -- Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Reva Hunt Nelson, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 in Truckee, California, following a very brief illness. She was born May 3, 1913 in Cortez, Colorado, a daughter of Joseph Anthony and Charlotte Elizabeth Tanner Hunt. She met and married Asahel Neil Nelson on July 5, 1930 in Richfield, Utah. Asahel preceded her in death on March 18, 1986. Reva moved from Richfield about 10 years ago. She has spent the past 8 years living at Lava Bluff in Hurricane, Utah, where she had many dear friends; she spent every summer at her favorite place in the whole world, her summer home at Fish Lake. She is survived by a large and loving family, her three sons: Ted and Mary of Potomac, Maryland; Chris and Sharilyn of Truckee, California; Dan and Teri of Orem, Utah; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Julia Petty of Sandy; brothers, Lloyd Eugene Hunt of Richfield; Ven Berl and Juana Hunt of Elsinore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Asahel; a daughter, Shirley Ann Sullivan; a grandson; three sisters and four brothers. Funeral services for Reva are scheduled for Saturday, January 8, 2005. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
