GEORGE - Robert Lee Gilmore, 82, August 2, 2005 in St. George, Utah. He was born August 19, 1922 in Havana, Kansas to Cecil Henderson Gilmore and Jesse Lee Gilmore. He married Ruth Bernice Wallin Gilmore in Tooele, Utah on September 1, 1943; sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1958. Robert (Bob) was raised in Kansas and moved west in his later High School years to Oakdale, California where he graduated and entered the US Navy. He served in the Pacific during the early months of World War II, returning to the states and work at the Tooele Ordinance Depot. His career was in the construction field, raising from carpenter to Construction Manager for Kaiser Engineers, Fluor Corporation, and Parsons Engineering and Construction Company. His career provided his family a life of travel, including most of the United States, and many foreign countries. He was noted locally for "retirement" activities as residential contractor, real estate sales, and caring neighbor. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Bernice Gilmore; children: Jennie Rapp, Houston, Texas; Cecil Ann McCann, Seattle, Washington; and Robert Dee Gilmore, North Bend, Washington, their spouses and families. He has 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents of Polson, Montana, and sister, Lola Mae Hevener, of St. George. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 6, at 11:00 AM, at Metcalf Mortuary, St. George. There will be a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM preceding the memorial service. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gregory Price and staff and the hospice staff of Odyssey Health Care for their loving and caring service. Originally published August 5, 2005 Heber Jesse Meeks Jr. Jesse was born in Cedar City, Utah on January 6, 1961, and passed away on Monday, August 1, 2005, at the age of 44 while fulfilling his dream to fly. Jesse was an adventurous, fun-loving, blue-eyed boy who loved surfing, skiing and rock n' roll. Upon his graduation from Arcadia High School he served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina, where he became fluent in Spanish. He then went on to graduate from San Jose State University in 1988 where he excelled in business administration. Jesse, the founder of Meeks Medical, Inc. in Fresno, was a well respected business man, throughout California, in the orthopedic industry for over 25 years. Jesse married Catharine (Godsey) Meeks, the love of his life, on December 19, 1993. Their nuptials were later sealed in the Oakland Latter Day Saints Temple for all time and eternity. Jesse and Catharine had three children William Cody Meeks age 11, Jesse Keith Meeks age 9, and Chance Stone Meeks age 6 all of whom he adored. Jesse is also survived by is mother Barbara Meeks, his father Heber Meeks, Sr., his brother Derek Meeks, and his three sister Muriel Brinkerhoff, Sharee Laidlaw, and Jennifer Ballard as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 9:00am at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1149 E. Alluvial Street, Fresno, CA. Interment to follow at Clovis Cemetery. Originally published August 5, 2005 Patricia Hansen Vowles Sturdy 8/9/1931 - 8/1/2005 Patricia Verneice Hansen Vowles Sturdy, age 73, passed away from cancer on August 1, 2005 in Sterling, Utah. She was born on August 9, 1931 in Brigham City, Utah to Antone Christian and Vesta Verneice Woodland Hansen. She was raised in Willard, Utah, and attended Weber State College and graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in education. She married Robert Orval Vowles in Logan, Utah in 1951. They had a family of nine children. They divorced in 1981. Patricia married Joseph Frederick Sturdy in 1986 in Salt Lake City. She lived in Centerville, Ogden, St George, and Oak City, Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served in all the auxiliary organizations of the Church. She and her husband served missions for the Church to Cebu Phillippines, Bangkok Thailand, Cove Fort Utah and the Manti Temple. She also participated in the historic re-enactment of the Mormon Pioneer Wagon Trek in 1997. Preceded in death by father: Antone Hansen; step-father: Charles C. Braegger; granddaughter: Patricia Carter. Survived by her husband: Joseph F. Sturdy, Sterling, UT; mother: Verneice Braegger, Willard, UT; brothers: Raymond A. (Lois) Hansen, Willard; Gary C.
