Originally published August 9, 2005 Eunice Lavada Brookman Eunice Lavada Brookman, age 95, passed away on July 29, 2005 at the Kolob Regional Care Center in Cedar City, Utah after being there for three years. She was born on August 30, 1909 in Vinson, Oklahoma to John and Elizabeth Davidson Finley. She married the love of her life, her first-grade childhood sweetheart, Claude C. Brookman on September 14, 1929 in Vinson, Oklahoma for a total of 69 years. Together they raised two children, Peggy and Neal. Eunice had always wanted to be a teacher, so after graduating from high school, she went to Weatherford, TX to go to college, but didn't last long after getting so homesick. They had their first child in 1933 and then moved to California to find work. After becoming more financially stable, she was able to be a stay-at-home mom for a few years. After the war, they found a house they had to have, so Eunice went back to work in a clothing industry and retired after over 25 years. The most important thing in Eunice's life has always been her family. She has always been a devoted daughter, wife and mother; always with a smile, hug or shoulder to cry on. She was a lifetime partner to her husband, a rock for her children and a pushover for her grandchildren. Eunice is survived by her daughter Peggy (John) Upton of Parowan, son Neal (Susan) Brookman of Yuba City, CA, six grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. Her husband Claude Brookman preceded her in death on October 3, 1998. A memorial service will be held in Yuba City, California.
