He was born March 14, 1923 in Orderville Utah to Charles and Grace Cutler Esplin. Garth married his sweetheart Barbara Adams on June 10, 1949. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Garth was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities, having a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. He proudly served his country in the Army Aircorp during World War II. For the past twenty-two years he worked for the Dixie National Forest Service through the CCEP Program. Garth is survived by his wife Barbara Adams Esplin, children Robert G. (Shelley), Gayle L Esplin, Jennifer Alger (DonRay), all of Cedar City, Utah, Janice Oviatt (Jim) of Ivins, Utah and Jacqueline Blake (Randall) of Enoch, Utah, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with all being the joy of Grandpa Garth's life. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Grace Esplin, a son David Wendell Esplin, a granddaughter Angela Esplin, and brothers Roland and Grant Esplin. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at the West Hills Chapel, 48 North College Way, Cedar City, Utah. Family and friends may call on Wednesday evening, August 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning prior to services, August 25 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., both held at the Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City. GEORGE - Walter "Ron" Montgomery passed away at Dixie Regional Medical Center on Sunday, August 20, 2005. He is finally pain free. Ron was born on May 19, 1935 in Syracuse, New York but his parents, Jessie Riley and Walter Montgomery, brought him to Utah within a few days where he resided and called "Utah" home. Ron was married to Kathy who bore him two sons. They were later divorced. He is preceded in death by his parents Jessie Riley and Walter Montgomery, a brother, and a sister, Glenna. He is survived by two sisters; Susan Griggs of St. George, UT and Kathy Kingsley of Garland, UT, two brothers; half brother John Tafoya of St. George, UT, and Reid Montgomery of Ogden, UT, two sons; Kevin and David Montgomery and numerous relatives in Davis county including Aunt Myrtle Clifton, cousins; Fran Stamey, Colleen Haney, Joyce Peterson and one niece, Shanna of St. George, UT. At Ron's request, no services will be held. Originally published August 24, 2005 Dolly Walker Stone ST. GEORGE - Dolly Walker Stone, 80, died August 22, 2005 at her home in St. George, Utah. She was born on September 4, 1924 to Nat D. and Clara Hampton Walker. Dolly was born and raised in San Diego, California. She attended San Diego Hoover High School. After graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the US Department of the Navy. She married Julian Jeffery Stone on April 5, 1945, in Arlington, Virginia. After they married, they moved to Long Beach, California then to Idaho Falls, Idaho where Dolly operated Dolly's Antique's Trading Post for many years. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1975 and then retired in 1983 and moved to St. George, Utah. She belonged to the Bloomington Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf. She also enjoyed gardening and decorating her home. She is survived by her husband, her son, Jeffery Grant (Julie Pieper) Stone of Olympia, Washington, grandsons; Joff Stone and Josh Stone, and one sister, Sunnie Joyce of Mesquite, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Marsha Ritchie. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. He was born on Aug. 27, 1937, in Wilmington, Del. He is survived by his wife: Marie; daughter: Susan; three grandsons: Chad, Wesley and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.
