Peterson HURRICANE - Barbara J. Peterson, age 58, passed away Friday, December 9, 2005, at Dixie Regional Medical Center iin St. George, Utah. She was born March 13, 1947, in Payson, Utah, a daughter of Wade and Dora Beck Davis. She married L. Kurt Peterson January 28, 1983, in Elko, Nevada. Barbara dedicated her life to her child, Amanda, who was adopted. She devoted countless hours of therapy to Amanda, helping her walk and see again after being in a coma. Barbara was raised in Alpine, Utah, and attended American Fork High School. She worked as Chief of Security for Diehl Lumber and as a Retail Theft Prevention Officer for the Smith food chain. She suffered from COPD in the last years of her life, and she fought for every breath. She loved and touched many in her life. We will feel her empty spot here on earth, but rejoice for her reuniting with our Savior, Jesus Christ. Surviving family include her: husband, Kurt, of Hurricane; daughter, Amanda; sisters, Connie (Ben) Barnes, of Banning, CA, Debbie (Afei) Finau, of Mesquite, NV, Patricia (Steve) Jerz, of Salt Lake City, Susan (David) Rice, of Provo, UT and Annette (David) Stokes, of LaVerkin, UT; and brothers, Stephen Davis, of Mona, UT, and Kevin (Bobbi) Davis, of Highland, UT. She was preceded iin death by her parents, Wade and Dora. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at 12:00 p.m. at the Hurricane 2nd Ward Chapel, 155 E. 1050 N., Hurricane, with the first visitation Tuesday, December 13, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hurricane Valley Mortuary, and the second visitation Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., prior to services, at the Chapel. Interment will be at the Hurricane City Cemetery. Arrangements are made under the direction of Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 N. Main St., Hurricane, (435) 635-2454. Funeral Director W. Originally published December 12, 2005 Donald Volck KANAB - Donald Eugene Volck, native of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, and resident of Kanab since 1988, passed away at 10:04 PM on December 10, 2005 at Kane County Hospital of a brain aneurysm. A retired plumber/pipefitter and member of the SoCal Plumber-Pipefitters Union, he is survived by his wife, Marge Volck of Kanab, and three daughters, Jennifer Manning of Issaquah, Washington, Donna and Tommy Arellano and grandson Nathan of Vista, California, and RobyLynn and Kerry Warren of Escondido, California. Donald is known for his love of animals and his passion for building RC airplanes. He most recently worked at the Kane County Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store.
