She was born on August 4, 1918 in LaPorte, Indiana, a daughter of William Frederick & Jennie Louise Edinger Gotto. Esther married Randall Weatbrook on February 21, 1941 in LaPorte, Indiana.They were later divorced.She married Joseph P. Leavitt in March of 1988 in the St. George Temple.He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was a member of the Bear River City First Ward.Esther served a mission in Los Angeles from 1982 to 1983.She served as a Relief Society President, Primary worker, family history worker and Young Women's Advisor. She loved gardening, sewing and painting. Surviving are four children, Randy (Linda) Weatbrook, Prescott, Arizona; Dan (Linda) Weatbrook, Garland, Utah; Laurie Weatbrook, Bloomington, Minnesota; Sandi Burger, Bear River City, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Peter William Weatbrook; one son-in-law, Don Burger; two grandsons, James & Joseph Weatbrook; one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bear River City First Ward Chapel, 5870 North 4700 West. Originally published December 22, 2005 Helen Oldham Olsen HURRICANE - Helen Oldham Olsen of Hurricane, Utah, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 quietly in her home after a long illness. Helen was born August 12, 1915, in Archer, Idaho, the second daughter of Edward Price Oldham and Annie Oretta Obray.She had one sister and five brothers. Helen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life.She had a strong pioneer heritage.Her family helped settle the south end of the Cache Valley.She moved from Archer, Idaho when very young and lived in her great-grandfather's home in Paradise, Utah.She attended elementary, middle school in Paradise and high school at South Cache High School.She was a great student and played clarinet in the high school band. She graduated from Utah State University with a teaching certificate and began career teaching elementary school. She eventually went to teach elementary school in Mantua, Utah, where she met Paul Olsen.After a brief courtship, they were married in the Logan LDS Temple on July2, 1940.This past July they celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in Brigham City, Utah.They were surrounded by her beloved family members. She served faithfully in the Church as a Primary and Sunday school teacher.She loved being a librarian in the North Logan Ward.After leaving Utah for California in November of 1965, she served in many callings in her wards in California.One she particularly enjoyed was being the MIA secretary. Helen followed her husband in all of his many business pursuits, from egg and chicken business in North Logan, to California to start anewand then into and out of the trucking business till they retired in 1984 as managers of a mobile home park in San Dimas, California.They retired to travel in their motor home, but soon settled for a home by the Colorado River in Blythe, California.In 1990 they moved from Blythe to Hurricane, Utah where she lived her remaining years. She will be greatly missed by her family.She left a legacy of faithful service.She was good at remembering all of the grandchild and great-grandchildren's birthdays, until she could no longer see to write or afford to send them all $1.00 in their cards.She loved them all very much.She and Paul continually prayed for their family every morning all the days of their married life.Helen had a great posterity. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul Lund Olsen and her four boys, Paul Scott (Judy) Olsen, Edward Reed (Jeanne) Olsen, Dale Lund (Sharon) Olsen, David Lee (Shari) Olsen and her only daughter, Carol Anne Olsen (Tim) Malone. She had 28 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren with more on the way. Also surviving are her brothers, John Edward Oldham, Hugh Lynn Oldham and Mark Edward Oldham. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Edna Ohwiller, two brothers, Max and Thaine Oldham. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 24, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City. Family will greet friends on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in the Paradise City Cemetery. GEORGE - Mary Gibson Wadsworth, 85, passed away December 17, 2005, in St. George, Utah. She was born to John William Gibson and Frances H. Clarke on July 11, 1920, in Ogden, Utah. She married Max Orin Wadsworth November 20, 1940. They were married 64 years. In her early years, Mary worked on and off in retail clothing and jewelry. She spent time as a hospital volunteer and gave service through various organizations. She was also a wonderful cook. Her family loved going to dinner, especially for holidays. She set a beautiful formal table. Her pies, desserts, barbeque meat, etc., were to die for. Her specialty Christmas candy was "toffee." She made numerous lifelong friends. She had a way about her that endeared her to everyone she met. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Gifted with a cute sense of humor, often, you could hear her chuckle over some simple thing. Mary was a beautiful person; kind, sweet, and guileless. Like her father, the "twinkle" in her eye will be remembered, always. Mary is survived by her son Dennis (Paula) Wadsworth of Hurricane, UT; daughter Diana Wadsworth of Daly City, CA; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, who love and will miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings. A family memorial will be held Friday, December 23, 2005, 10 a.m., Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
