She was born March 24, 1923 in Duchesne, Utah to Rachel D. Tidwell and Ernest Evans Wilson. She married Thomas D. Lovell on March 18, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized August 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with four children; Lawrence Harper Lovell, Franklin W. Lovell, Robyn Dee Lovell and Kenneth David Lovell. Mary grew up in Duchesne and graduated from Duchesne High School in 1941. She received a Scholarship to BYU and attended two semesters. Unable to afford continuing school and due to World War II, Mary began manufacturing "Ammunition Pellets" at the Ogden Arsenal. In 1943 she was employed at the new Naval Supply Depot in Clearfield, UT in the "Finance and Supply" section until the war ended. Mary's life's joy came from her love for family, friends and Heavenly Father. A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; her life was serving others. She humbly accepted numerous callings and leadership positions in Wards and Stakes, wherever they lived. Mary was a faithful servant. She lived in Murray, UT over the years, five years in Twin Falls, ID, 25 years in Bartlesville, OK and 10 years in Washington, UT. Following Tom's retirement in 1985, they served in the Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh Mission and upon returning home they served as full time temple workers in the Dallas Texas Temple. Returning to Utah in 1991, Mary enjoyed being an Ordinance Worker in the Jordan River and St. George Temples serving the Patrons until her health began to fail. She is survived by her husband, Tom Lovell of Washington; her three sons and their wives, Larry (Pat Redd), Frank (Marsha Mayfield), and Ken (Susie Sydenham); 22 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and her brother Ernest J. Wilson of St. George. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2005, 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Hts., (Salt Lake City) UT. Visitation will also be held Wednesday, December 28, 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the services at the Mountain View Memorial Mortuary. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221. Originally published December 24, 2005 Dolores S. Spencer ST. GEORGE / SIGURD - Glenns Dolores Sampson Spencer, 76, passed away December 21, 2005 in St. George, Utah. She was born April 3, 1929 in Sigurd, Utah to Glen and Jennie Snedeger Sampson. She married Billy Ray Verner, they later divorced. She married Clifford Smeltzer, they later divorced. She married Donald D. Spencer and he preceded her in death. She loved to read and keep up on current events. She was family oriented. As a young mother, she played the Piano for the Sigurd Ward. She is survived by her sons, Brad Verner of Washington, Randy Smeltzer of St. George; sister, Gae (Leon) Carter of Sigurd, Dick Sampson of Aurora, Rick Sampson of Boulder City, NV, and Billy Sampson of Las Vegas, NV. She is preceded in death by a son, Roger Verner; brother, Rex Sampson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield. Friends may call at the mortuary on Tuesday from 11:30 to 12:30.
