Daniel was born June 9, 1917 in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up in Kansas City and attended the University of Kansas majoring in pre-med. Ever since he was a little boy he had an interest in airplanes and learning to fly. While at school, he decided to pursue his dream of flying and enlisted in the Marine Cadet Core. He was stationed in Pensacola, FL, where he met his future wife, Merle Hale. Daniel and Merle were married May 25, 1940 in Milton, FL. After World War II he started flying as a commercial airline pilot with Pan American World Airways. He retired after 34 years. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and was a life long member of the NRA. Daniel had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes, many of which we heard several times. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Daniel and Merle were sealed in the Atlanta Temple on May 25, 1991. Daniel is survived by his wife of 65 years, Merle; children, Donna (Barry) Bender of Las Vegas, NV, Jeanie (Jerry) Puzey of Hurricane, UT and Jill Miller of Park City, UT; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Private services will be held in Hurricane, UT and interment will be in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL. He was greatly loved and will be thought of daily. Originally published December 27, 2005 Milton 'Babe' Rogers Milton "Babe" Rogers age 65, passed away Sunday morning, December 25, 2005, in St. George, Utah. He was born to Archie and Elizabeth Cumerill Rogers on September 4, 1940. Milton was married to Deanna Begay, in St. George. Milton was raised on the Shivwits Indian Reservation. He attended West Elementary and Woodward Jr. High Schools in St. George, and graduated from high school at the Phoenix Indian High School in Phoenix, AZ. While attending high school, he excelled in football and wrestling. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Milton had many passions; these included traveling the United States, hunting, and was well read. He spent many hours at the library. His other favorites were watching the NFL, boxing, archery, and helping his uncle with his cattle. As a youth he was known to be a master in the art of marbles as well as earning the name of "Babe" after the famous baseball icon. Milton was an easy going and likeable person. He liked to make friends wherever he traveled. He lived his life in a simple and uncomplicated way. This included living in our natural environment where he was most happy, many months out of the year. Milton is survived by many nieces and nephews who love him and who will miss him. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Weymer Rogers, and sisters, Lamelia Wero and LaMina Rogers. Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 29th at 8:30 a.m. at the Shivwits Indian Cemetery under the direction of Heideman Mortuary. A viewing will be held in his honor Wednesday, December 28, from 5-6 p.m. at the Shivwits Community Center. A Traditional Sing will begin on Wednesday, December 28th at 7 p.m. and last all night. Originally published December 27, 2005 Leland J Stapley 1939 ~ 2005 Leland J Stapley, age 66, passed away December 22, 2005 after a battle with cancer. Born January 19, 1939 in Joseph, Utah to Sim Adam and Necha Estella Jackman Stapley. Married Gwen Chappell on May 14, 1960. She preceded him in death. He enjoyed golfing and touring on his Goldwing. Survived by mate, Barbara Fornengo; son, L. Glenn (Lori) Stapley; daughter Necha (Blaine) Mann; grandchildren, Dustin, Scott, Charli, Brandon, Moab, Kanyon; 5 sisters. Preceded in death by 1 brother; 1sister. Special thanks to Barbara, Charli and Vonda Rae for their loving care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, at 3:00 p.m. at Washington 10th Branch, 600 East Telegraph Street, Washington, Utah. A viewing will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City and Wednesday from 2-2:45 p.m. at the church in Washington, Utah. Originally published December 27, 2005 Marva Gleave Allen KINGSTON - Marva Gleave Allen, 85, of Kingston, Utah, passed away December 25, 2005, in Panguitch, Utah. She was born September 23, 1920, a daughter of Robert Barrowman and Edith Maud Snyder Gleave at Burro Flat, John's Valley, Utah. She married Gerald Eugene Allen, February 11, 1942 in Kingston, later solemnized in the St. George Temple May 26, 1964. He preceded her in death April 12, 2000. She is survived by her children, Linda Laree Orton, Kanab; Gary Eugene (Margaret) Allen, Kingston; Helayna Maudene (Robert) Goulding, Hurricane; Greg Albern (Debra) Allen, Escalante; Marvalee Whittaker, Hurricane; Cody Joe (Beth) Allen, Kingston; 38 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Irva Sudweeks, Kingston; Jack (BettyKae) Gleave, Kingston, Edler Merthell Gleave, Willowcreek, California; Bobbie (Garn) Barnson, Junction; sister-in-law, Beth Gleave, Antimony. Preceded in death by parents, husband, brothers, sisters: Robert Lavere Gleave, Otto Wellington (Varis) Gleave, Marcus Earl (Marguerite) Gleave, Virgil Walter (Melba) Gleave, Charles William Gleave, Scott E. (Beth) Gleave, Larene Gleave, baby Gleave. Three grandchildren, Greg Allen, two infants, and two infant great-grandchildren. Marva was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent many years as President of the Mutual and as a Sunday School teacher, always concentrating her efforts on youth. Marva dearly loved life. Whether fishing, changing sprinklers, raising calves, cheering at a sporting event, or caring for her family, she was tirelessly devoted. Marva taught kids to fish, coached little league, sewed cheerleading uniforms, harassed referees, wrote poetry, and cheered, "Down the Middle" on every freethrow at almost every ballgame in Southern Utah. Though her interests were many and varied, being a loving wife and mother were most important in her life. Her care-giving will be missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 31, 2005, at 11:00 a..m. in the Circleville 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Circleville Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at the ward chapel Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Widtsoe Cemetery.
