She was born June 19, 1913 in Logan, Utah to Hans Anthon and Maud Ellen Orrock Christiansen. She married Henry Gilbert Gale September 21, 1932 in Nephi, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple January 1933. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1973. Maurine enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, was an avid reader and loved to play games. She loved to sing, especially duets with her husband. She played the piano, organ and saxophone and taught piano lessons. She was very active in the LDS Church having served in many positions throughout her life. She was a member of the D.U.P., Better Homes Club for over 50 years. She is survived by her children, Alan and Joyce Gale of Beaver, Bryce Gale of Beaver, Melinda and Ted Whitaker of Orem, Mark and Keri Gale of Beaver, Briant and Kay Gale of Cedar City, and Chris and Karen Gale of Cedar City. She has 25 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren. Three brothers, Dan and Nadine Christiansen of Oceanside, CA, John and Marie Christiansen of Beaver and Robert and Helen Christiansen of Beaver. Two Sisters, Ione Blair of Hamilton, Montana and Louise Clyde of Springville. She was preceded in death by a son, Farrell Gale, a grandson, Garth Gale and three great grandsons, Travis Gale, Traysen Gale and Tayten Gale. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beaver LDS 4th Ward Chapel. Friends and family may pay their respects on Wednesday, at the Church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Barbara Thacher Kanab, Utah -- Barbara Allen Thacher passed away at her home in Kanab, Utah on December 31, 2004 at the age of 77. She was born in Beverly, Massachusetts on February 23, 1927, the second of seven children of Stanley E Allen Sr. and Gertrude M. (Hitchings) Allen. When it was time for Barbara and her mother to leave the hospital, they were chauffeured home to Hamilton, Massachusetts during a huge snowstorm in the limousine from the estate where her father was head gardener. In 1960 she moved from New England to Southern California and then to Kanab, Utah in 1989. When she first saw the Red Cliffs she said she knew she was home. Barbara quickly became involved in the community and was a Charter Member of the Kane County Hospital Auxiliary and Manager of the Hospital Thrift Store. She also served on the Kanab City Library Board and was a member of the United Church. Barbara enjoyed gardening, golf, reading, and television, but her real pleasure came from going to lunch and dinner and spur of the moment outings with her special friends Janice Blanchard and Carmen Watson. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Gertrude Allen and older brother Stanley E. Allen Jr. She is survived by daughter Sandra (Terry) Lattemore of Kanab and Richvale, California; sons Allen (Joan) Thacher of Kanab and Jeffrey Thacher of Hawaii; her "other" daughter Connie Hughes of Murfreesboro, TN; six grandchildren Edward, Brian, Lisa, Alyssa, Joseph, and Courtney; four great-grandchildren Samantha, Sierra, Autumn and Garrett; siblings Joseph G. Allen, Donald F. Allen, Phyllis A. Wilkinson, Robert A. Allen, and Richard L. Allen; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may also be made on-line at: http://www.diabetes.org. Ruthe Wilson Hatch, Utah -- Ruthe Barnhurst Wilson, age 85, died Friday, December 31, 2004 in Panguitch, Utah. Born October 18, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Cassie Merle Anderson and Meltiar Hatch Barnhurst. Married Calvin Wilson on June 9, 1937 in the St. George Temple. He died October 10, 2001. Ruthe was a happy, friendly person who made everyone feel welcome in her home. She was an active member of the LDS Church, and served in many church organizations as a teacher and in presidencies. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, writing letters to her many penpals, and singing as a member of a trio in her younger years. She especially loved her family and was always concerned that they were safe and happy. She was proud of her grandchildren and attended as many of their sporting and other events as possible. Above all, she showed great love to family and friends, and will be greatly missed. Survivors include son Curtis Tachine Wilson of Salt Lake City; daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Wilford Lane of Coppermine, Arizona; grandchildren Christopher Lane, MacArthur Lane, Gordon Lane, Vernon Lane, Veronica Lane, and Jeremy Lane; and sisters Beth Weideman and Ann Rives. She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin, grandson Conan Jay Wilson, and brothers and sisters Merle Wood, Ervin Barnhurst, Ira Ray Barnhurst, Meltiar Barnhurst, Rubye Barnhurst, and Theora Heap. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the Hatch LDS Chapel. Viewing will be Tuesday morning from 9:45-10:45 AM at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Hillsdale Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
