Gellert HURRICANE - Herbert W. Gellert, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, in Hurricane. He was born July 10, 1921 to George Alfred Gellert and Henrietta Kujat. He was married to Barbara Bentson (deceased) and Beth Brockbank Bussberg Gellert. His life was filled with happiness and adventure as he traveled from his birthplace in Minnesota to his home in Laie, Hawaii, then to Hurricane, Utah. He served temple missions in Taiwan, Frankfurt and Los Angeles and visited numerous other places in the world. He loved his family, friends, helping others and serving in the temple. He taught Jr. High School, worked with the Scouting Program, and retired from BYU-Hawaii after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Beth Gellert and children, Heidi (Ivo) Hanza, Holly (Randy) Hepworth and Buddy (Kapewa) Gellert, four step children, Richard (Lillian) Bussberg, Ronald Bussberg, Randy Bussberg and Steve (Lori) King, 32 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Hurricane 1st Ward Chapel, 270 S. 700 W., Hurricane, on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation from 2:00 until time of service at the chapel. Interment will be in Laie, Hawaii. Originally published July 14, 2005 Jaqueline Heap Matheson Jaqueline (Jackie) Heap Matheson passed away on July 12, 2005 in Cedar City, Utah after a long courageous battle with several illnesses. Jackie was born on January 29, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to J. Elmo and Dorothy Heap. She married her high school sweetheart Don A. Matheson on August 28, 1965. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Jackie was always so sweet and caring of others. She accepted everyone for who they were no matter what their circumstances were. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Jackie grew up in Cedar City. She attended Cedar High School where she was Class Vice President and involved in many other school activities. She had many close friends whom she has remained close throughout her life. She then went on to attend college where she earned an elementary teaching degree and taught for several years for the Iron County School District. She then decided to stop teaching so she could stay home and raise her family. Jackie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the gospel. She faithfully served in many callings. She was indeed a loving daughter, sister, mother and wife. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Jackie is preceded in death by her loving husband Don A. She is survived by her parents J. Elmo and Dorothy Heap, brother Russell (Arlene) Heap, children Stefanie (Gary) Holyoak, Leslie (Neil) Orton, Coby Matheson and Abby (Kennan) Imlay, all of Cedar City, Utah. She had 8 grandchildren who were her pride and joy. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice and Kolob Regional for the special care given to our mother. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, July 16, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Canyon View Stake Center (1985 N. Main St.). Originally published July 14, 2005 James "Bill" Roberts James "Bill" Roberts passed away July 11th 2005 at G.C. Dils Medical center in Caliente NV. Bill was born Oct. 11, 1921 in Caliente to Paul Irving and Kathryn K. Roberts. He graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1939. Bill loved the railroad and went to work for the Union Pacific at an early age. He married Dorthy Nolan September 21, 1941. He served in the U. S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He returned to work for the Union Pacific until retirement. Bill and Dorthy returned to Caliente in 1984. They purchased a travel trailed and spent winters in Yuma Arizona, where they enjoyed many fun activities and met many wonderful friends. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorthy, son Paul E. (Iris) Roberts of California, Maryland. Daughters Sue (Joel) Christiansen of Lincoln, NE. Carolyn ((Walter) Wilcox of Caliente. Grandsons Ryan (Destiny) Hurst of Lincoln, NE. Originally published July 14, 2005 Viliami Hao-He-Lotu Tautua'a Viliami Hao-He-Lotu Tautua'a passed away at the age of 44, July 3, 2005 in Sand Hollow Reservoir in Hurricane, Utah. Viliami was born in the Kingdom of Tonga on April 19, 1961 in Kolofo'ou Nuku'alofa, Tonga Tapu. He moved to American Samoa at the age of 12 and attended Mapusaga Fou LDS School. He then moved to the United States at age 19. He lived and worked in Los Angeles, but moved to St. George in 2003 to be near and take care of his two sons. He has worked for Wal-Mart distribution for the past two years. Viliami loved people and music. He had a beautiful voice and played the guitar, ukulele, bass, piano, and drums. He never had a bad thought about anyone and enjoyed being around people. He was always smiling and loved to share his talents with anyone who would listen. Everyone in the family babied him even though he was not the youngest. He was a single father and would do anything for his children. He was truly music to our ears, a joy to be around, a wonderful person and now a beautiful spirit. He will be missed. Viliami is survived by his daughter, Leilani Rose of Los Angeles, CA., sons, Billy Tautua'a of St. George, UT., and Sini Tautua'a of St. George, UT., brothers, Eric Tautua'a (Julie) of Los Angeles, CA., Fetuu Tautua'a (Malu) of Los Angeles, CA., Sione Tautua'a (Fekuki) of Los Angeles, CA., Sini Tautua'a (Sese) of Los Angeles, CA., sisters, Ana Namoe Nuusila (Alesana) of Los Angeles, CA., Tai Judy (Brant) of St. George, UT., Amelia Fonua (Peni) of Salt Lake City, UT., Isapela Tillage (Berry) of Los Angeles, CA., Langiola Afu of Auckland, New Zealand, 43 nephews and nieces, 46 great nephews and nieces and Norma "Chella" mother of his two sons. Originally published July 14, 2005 Margaret Mina Hartvigsen Tolman Margaret Hartvigsen Tolman, 80, passed peacefully from this life on Friday evening, July 8, 2005. Margaret was born May 8, 1925 in Genola to Margaret May Thomas and Arthur Lorenzo Hartvigsen. She spent her early years in Genola and Santaquin. During World War II she worked in California as an aircraft riveter. In 1945 she was employed as a teacher in Dragerton (Carbon County). That is where she met, and on December 24, 1945, married Vaughn Cyril Tolman. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Salem where they raised their four children. They were later divorced. Margaret lived in Salem, Utah; LaVerkin, Utah; and in Salem, Missouri. During her 80 years, she was a mother, homemaker, teacher, and nurses aide to the elderly. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving in many callings. She especially enjoyed teaching literature lessons to the Relief Society sisters. She wrote many poems over the years as well as many tributes to friends and relatives. She loved crossword puzzles. Margaret is survived by her siblings: Arthur, Asa Curtis, Randall (Sybil), Mary Lou Durrant, Thomas, Shirley (Bob) Peterson, Marda (Kay) Mendenhall; sister-in-law, Jesse Hartvigsen; her children: Tom (Mary Beth), Barbara Ann Chenault, Don (Amber), Larry (Celeste); 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her former husband; parents; and siblings: Winifred (Lester) Gee, Jim (Doris) Burraston, Elvira Hartvigsen, Marjorie Peterson Taylor, Ruth (Lloyd) Mills, John Hartvigsen, Melvin Hartvigsen; sister-in-law, Norma Hartvigsen; and brother-in-law, Jim Durrant. As a family, we wish to thank the staff at Art City Nursing and Rehab in Springville; as well as Comfort Care Hospice for their very professional and caring service to Mom. A special thanks also to Bishop Vaud Hanks, the Salem 1st Ward Relief Society, and Salem 1st Ward Members. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Salem 1st Ward Chapel, 60 South Main.
