Elsa was a lady of great courage, elegance and strength. She was born March 6, 1921 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Jacob and Elsie Mae Bruch Lichty. She married Raymond Loughton, from Ogden, Utah in 1941 in Washington, D.C. They were sealed for time and all eternity in 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they served three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one to La Paz, Bolivia and two to the Visitor's Center at the Washington, D.C. Temple. She was active in her Church and community. She traveled with her husband as a diplomat's wife to Mexico and left her gracious influence with all who met her. She was a great hostess. Elsa is survived by her husband of 64 years, and their six children, Linda (John) Field of Delaware, Sandra (Marshall) Sclarow of Colorado, Paul (Ranette) Loughton of Utah, Jon (LuAnn) Loughton of Utah, Debra (Stanley) Gamero of Utah, Donna (James) Keenan of New Jersey, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thank you to Elsa's loving caregivers, Jenne and Misnovis Atencio, Maria and Rebeca Bernal and family, and Care Source. We will all miss her greatly. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Crescent Ridge Stake Center (11000 South 1300 East in Sandy, Utah). A family viewing will be held one hour immediately prior to the services. Funeral directors - Jenkins-Soffe South Valley. Originally published July 19, 2005 Dee Lynn Norman ESCALANTE - Dee Lynn Norman, 51, of Escalante, passed away July 16, 2005, in Bountiful, Utah. He was born November 25, 1953, in Panguitch, Utah, to John E. and Yukon Griffin Norman. Dee was the fourth child of nine. He grew up in Escalante where he graduated from High School in 1972. Dee worked in the oil fields in his younger years. He loved his horses and pigeons and to hunt and fish. Dee had many trials in his life and met them all head on. He never let life get him down, after he lost the use of his legs, he would wood carve and draw amazing pictures. He was really independent. He would put hay on his lap to haul to his horses and feed to his pigeons. Dee was loved by all and touched everyone's life he met. He is survived by his mother Yukon of Escalante; sisters, Linda (Bill) Overall, Escalante; Lana (Steve) Roberts, Redmond; Becky Castleman, Redmond; Debbie (Dave) Eiman, Denver City, TX; Janalee Young, Redmond; Monice (Larry) Tackett, Colombia Falls, MT; brother, Larry Norman, Escalante; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his father, John and sister, Kim. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 22, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the Escalante Stake Center. On line guest book at www.maglebymortuary.com Originally published July 19, 2005 Viola May Roberts Reed ST. GEORGE - Viola May Roberts Reed, age 77, passed away July 16, 2005, in St. George, Utah. She was born November 12, 1927, in Rigby, ID., to John Archie and Edith Walker Hunter Roberts. She married Glen Basil Reed on February 10, 1947 in Dillon, MT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 11, 1966. Viola was an active member of the LDS Church, working in all Church organizations including, Sunday School, Relief Society, Cub Scout Program, and leader with Glen of the Mutual Marrieds for five years. She also worked in the Baptistry of the St. George LDS Temple for eight years. Viola and Glen organized the Empty Nesters Group in Bloomington Hills LDS 4th Ward area. During the eight years they entertained over 4000 guests in their home. She actively participated in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for 10 years, serving as Captain for two years. She enjoyed crafts and was an accomplished painting artist. Travel and family research were special hobbies the family enjoyed. She is survived by her husband Glen, children; Robert Reed of Kennewick, WA., Deborah (Terry) Merrill of Ammon, ID., James (Nancy) Reed of Palmer Lake, CO., Steven (Julie) Reed of Oregon City, OR., daughter-in-law Cheryl Taylor of Kennewick, WA., brother-in-law Richard Greenhalgh of Shelley, ID., 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two sisters; Jeanette Ryder of Idaho Falls, ID., and Beulah (Richard) Kunz of Layton, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Woods Funeral Home, in Idaho Falls, ID. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 20, from 6-8 p.m., at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, UT., Friday, July 22, from 6-8 p.m., at the Woods Funeral Home and Saturday, July 23, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to services at the mortuary.
