GEORGE, Ut - Michael Barte Mower, age 58, passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with liver cancer on June 18, 2005, in St. George, Utah. He was born June 28, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Roy Lewis and Reah Farnsworth Mower. He married Kaye Nunley on August 26, 1972, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Michael graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1964. He served in the Army National Guard for six months of duty. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an LDS mission to England. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Psychology. Michael was a talented musician and loved to play many instruments including the sax, flute, oboe, english horn, and keyboard. He supported himself through college by playing in a dance band. The family moved to California in 1980, where Mike worked in management in the insulation and construction industry. He is survived by his wife Kaye of St. George, UT.; his daughter, Tisa (Mark) Hedman of Salt Lake City, UT.; his son, Michael (Nicole) Mower of Orange, CA.; four grandchildren; his mother, Reah F. Wilcken of St. George, UT.; a brother, Lewis L. (Janet) Mower; and two sisters, Bonnie J. Mower, and Susan (Harold) Vordos. He was preceded in death by his father Roy Lewis Mower, and one daughter Melissa Mower. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd. A visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2005, from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, June 25, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., both at the mortuary. Originally published June 19, 2005 Robert E. 'Bob' Osiek LAVERKIN, Utah - Robert E. "Bob" Osiek went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 18, 2005. He was born October 1, 1936, in Vernal, Utah, to Louis Francis Osiek and Rosetta Larsen Osiek. He married Leah Jeanene Nunley on July 17, 1959, in Norwalk, California. Bob was raised in Vernal, attended Uintah High School and served four years in the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he lived in Southern California for 10 years, where he built swimming pools. Bob moved his family to Vernal in 1969, where he worked in the oil field and as a truck driver. He retired and moved to Southern Utah in 1988. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member and deacon of the First Southern Baptist Church of Hurricane, Utah. He is survived by his: wife, Leah, of LaVerkin; daughters, Sherry (Dennis) Wagner, of LaVerkin, and Dana (Joe) Stone, of Las Vegas; son, Cary (Rayna) Osiek, of Vernal; and daughter, Robin Ireland, of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Melba (Don) Boothe, of West Jordan, Betty (Henry) White, of Vernal, Kaye (Ron) Anderson, of Vernal; and brother, Glen (Jeaneen) Osiek, of North Salt Lake. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, 1565 West State St., Hurricane, UT. Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT, (435) 673- 2454. Originally published June 19, 2005 Ernest A. Shkorupa DIAMOND VALLEY - Ernest A. Shkorupa, 80, passed away June 17, 2005 in St. George Care and Rehab Center in St. George, Utah. He was born on August 2, 1924 in Hamtramck, Michigan to Nicholas and Mary Wadinsk Shkorupa. He married Janet Lehmer in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 20, 1967. Ernest loved riding motorcycles and drag racing cars. He also enjoyed spending time around horses. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and his brother, Eugene Shkorupa. In accordance with Ernest's wishes he will be cremated with no services. The family would like to say a special "thank you" to Dr. Rignell and his staff. Originally published June 19, 2005
