In more recent years, Kelly especially loved spending time with his five young grandchildren, who had affectionately nicknamed him Papa Amos. Kelly's boyhood interests set the course of his life. After graduating from Enterprise High School, Kelly attended Utah Technical College in Provo, Utah, where he obtained an Associates of Science Degree in Auto Mechanics. While there, he met and courted his sweetheart and best friend, Kerrie Shelton. They were married on June 16, 1973, in Enterprise, and their marriage was solemnized a year later in the Manti LDS Temple. Together, they raised five wonderful children.
