Our beloved Father was born during World War I in the rough mining town of Frisco, Southwest of Milford, Utah. During Dad's first 33 years he lived in Minersville Utah and experienced first hand the Great Depression. During this time, a deep love for his Church, Family, Southern Utah and Country cemented forever his great character ethic. During World War II, Spencer and his brothers "ran to enlist" in the "Service" when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. He served in the Army Air Corp in the United States and Italy. He served in the 457th Service Squadron and participated in the American Theater Operations in the Rome-Arno Italy campaign. He received the European-African Middle Eastern Service ribbon and the Victory Medal for his dedicated and honorable service to our Country. He was employed in Cedar City at Utah Construction and Utah International as a welder for 30 years. He retired in 1981 as an active member of the Operating Engineers Union. Dad inherited his love for mining from his father and worked in the mines around Minersville, Milford, Pioche and Tempiute Nevada. During this time many special memories and experiences were made with his many relatives and life long friends. One of Dad's most precious experiences was working with his brother Bob at Sun Valley, Idaho and trapping with him in Nevada. He also loved being at the annual Roberts Deer Camp with Jack, Sonnie, Phil, Ada, and Jane in the Bald Ridges above Minersville for nearly 70 years; Uncle Jack would sing the nights away with our great family gathered around the camp fire. The highlight of his life was his family and his life-long sweetheart Mary of nearly 60 years. Mom continued to capture Dad's heart daily with her beautiful piano music. Together they raised 7 children, who have never fluttered too far from their nest. The family would like to give special thanks to the Kolob Regional Care Center for their kind, professional and caring service to our loved one.
