She was born July 13, 1949 in Oakland, CA to Richard Calvin and Joyce Stanbridge. She grew up in Castro Valley, CA; and spent most of her adult life in the Lodi, CA area. She had her degree in Childhood Development and was a teacher. Linda was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Linda was a published author and she also enjoyed sewing, farming, gardening, singing, and baking. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her five daughters. Linda is survived by her mother, Joyce Elsea, her five daughters Tessa McMurrian, Heather Weybright, Jennifer Roldan, Jamie Davalos, Elisabeth Barnard, nine grandchildren, brothers Richard Elsea and Wendell Elsea. She was preceded in death by her sisters Jennifer and Abigail Elsea and father Richard Elsea Sr. Private services will be held for family. Linda will be laid to rest at the Payson Cemetery Friday, March 4, 2005 at 11 a.m. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. GEORGE - Janice Warthen Syme, 91, passed away March 1, 2005, at her home. She was born January 14, 1914, in Leeton, Utah, to James Alfred and Ruth Bowen Warthen. She married George Leslie Syme on June 13, 1930, in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She attended school in Leeton, Utah, grade 1 thru 3. Janice went the full year in grade 1, but grades 2 and 3 were interrupted by the Flu Epidemic and Small Pox Scare, that ended the 3rd grade. She was allowed into the 4th grade in Springville, Utah because she could read so well. She attended the 5th grade in Spanish Fork and started High School in Spanish Fork. She finished her High School education through the Adult Education Program at Provo High School, graduating in 1953. She lived in Provo, Utah from 1930 to 1991, then moved to St. George, Utah in 1991 and lived there until 2005. She enjoyed reading, gardening, dancing, cooking, and homemaking skills. Janice was preceded in death by her husband George Leslie Syme, and a daughter Shirlee Sheets. She is survived by her children, Georgia J. Syme, St. George, Ut, John L. Syme (Joan Williams) Provo, Ut, Elmo J. Syme (JoAnn Saxey) St. George, Ut, Eileen Horton (Roger) Santa Barbara, CA, Hugh W. Syme (Kathryn Davis) Jerome, Id, 22 Grandchildren, 42 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Heideman Mortuary at 170 S. Mall Dr. St. George, at 6:00 p.m. Friday March 4, 2005. And a viewing the following day at Berg Mortuary at 185 E. Center Street in Provo, Utah at 1:00 on Saturday March 5, 2005.
