He had been playingin the water of the creekwith his sister and a friend, both of whom escaped serious injury.He was born July 3, 1994 in Provo, Utah. Josh loved everyone, but most especially his family, teachers, and classmates in Mr. Willardson's 5th grade class. He enjoyed his puppies, motorcycles, bike riding, and building things. Josh is survived by parents Jerry Lee and Stacey Lyn Carter Hutchings of Kanab; eight brothers and sisters Chelsea and Justin Perkins of Kanab, Tyson Hutchings, Brittney Hutchings, and Lauren Hutchings all of Kanab, Sasha Hutchings of Springville, UT, Austin Hutchings, Brock Hutchings, and Ashli Hutchings all of Kanab; grandparents Randy and Laureen Peterson of American Fork, UT, Jerry A. Hutchings of Alaska, and Janet Miller of Salem, UT; and great-grandparents LeGrande and Jo Bunker of Springville, UT. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the Kanab Utah Stake Center, corner of Main and Center. Viewings will be held Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM at Mosdell Mortuary and Friday afternoon from 12:45-1:45 PM at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the Joshua Hutchings Memorial Fund has been set up and can be donated to at any Zions Bank branch. Originally published March 15, 2005 Bob Ramsay KANAB - Robert Dean Ramsay, age 75, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 in St. George, Utah with his family by his side. Born December 2, 1929 in Glendale, Utah to Arthur Grant and Bertha Merrill Ramsay. He married Maureen Crofts on December 27, 1953 in Kanab, Utah, later solemnized in the St. George Temple on February 17, 1956. Bob was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict. After working for Kaibab Lumber, he purchased and operated Ramsay Brothers Service with his brother Earl at Mt. Carmel Junction. They later expanded to include a trailer park, store, and gift shop. They retired in 1996. Bob's family always came first in his life, loving and enjoying Maureen, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, hunting, fishing, sports, horse riding, and woodcutting on Harris Mountain with his sons. Bob served on the Kane County School Board for 16 years including President for a term. He was also active in Lions, the American Legion and the St. George Elks Lodge. Survivors include wife Maureen of Kanab; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Stefanie of Las Vegas, Grant and Leslie of Kanab, Shayne and Lori of Kanab, and Maughan and Kelley of Illinois; brothers and sisters Jay Ramsay of St. George, Earl Ramsay of Mt. Carmel, Clare and Mary Lee Ramsay of Tropic, LaRee and Dick Partridge of Pahrump, NV, Edith and Chess Allred of Delta, UT, and Douglas Ramsay of Ohio; twelve grandchildren and five and 1/2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Teresa and sisters Laura Stevens and Maida Christensen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the Kanab Utah Stake Center, corner of Main and Center in Kanab. Viewings will be held at the Kanab Stake Center on Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM and Wednesday morning from 9:45-10:45 AM. Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary. GEORGE - Verl Davis Schemensky, age 87, passed away as a result of a long illness. He was born April 13, 1917, in Lakeview, Utah a son of Frank Schemensky and Mary Hannah Davis. Verl attended schools in Orem, Utah. Verl was married to Mary Fay Allman on May 10, 1937. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 10, 1945. They were together for 67 years. Verl worked at Ironton Steel, Springville, Utah and then was transferred to U.S. Steel Corp. (Geneva Steel). He was employed at Geneva Steel for 40 years. After retirement he and his wife moved to Washington City. Verl and his wife Fay had three children: Geniel, Karl, and Mary Ann, and their family was and is the most important thing in their lives. Verl lived for his children and grandchildren. He loved to golf and hunt and fish, but only when his family could participate with him and Fay. His family called him "Pa" and "Fred" because he loved to tease with them and everyone loved being with "Pa." Verl was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Schemensky family would like to give appreciation to Dr. Robert Rignell, the nurses and staff at Red Cliffs Regional Medical Center, and Applegate Hospice Care for the professional and loving care they gave to Verl during his illness. The nurses and aids grew to love Verl during his stay at Red Cliffs and they also referred to him as "Pa." Surviving family includes his wife Fay of Washington City, Karl (Linda) Schemensky of St. George, Geniel Sperry and Mary Ann (Ron) Offret of Washington City, six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. His mother and father, twin sister Eva Jameson, sisters Elva Dixon and Lea McCandless, brothers Merve and Darrell Schemensky, one grandson Shane Offret and son-in-law Arlyn Sperry, preceded Verl in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the Washington LDS 10th Branch, 700 E. Telegraph. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 17, from 9:30-10:40 a.m., prior to services at the chapel. Originally published March 15, 2005 Norma Lucille Pike Spackman Norma Lucille Pike Spackman, 93, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was called home by her Heavenly Father on March 12, 2005. She passed away peacefully in Cedar City, UT. She was born on October 24, 1911 in Ogden, UT to Valborg and Elijah Pike. She married Joseph F. Spackman on June 3, 1939 in Ogden, UT. Norma was raised in Riverdale, UT. She moved to Cheyenne, WY with her husband Joseph and lived there until 2002. She then moved to Overland Park, KS to live with her daughter Sharon and then to Cedar City, UT to live with her daughter Glenda. She is survived by two daughters Sharon (Earl) Bean serving a mission in Malaysia; and Glenda (DeVon) Childs of Cedar City, UT; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and one sister. Viewing and graveside services will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Leavitt Chapel of Flowers Mortuary, 836 36th St, Ogden, UT.
