She was the oldest of three children of Myrtle Rosella and Albert Emmett Smith. She died March 15, 2005. Margaret had graduated from South High School and was taking pre-nursing courses at the University of Utah when she met her first husband, Joseph Lynn Bambrough. Lynn was killed during World War II. Margaret met John Frederick Eberhardt in Salt Lake City. They married February 6, 1946 and reared six children. John and Margaret were involved in many social, civic and church activities. But Margaret particularly enjoyed the myriad of things the family did together, such as holiday gatherings and boating trips. Margaret and John also enjoyed traveling. Everywhere she went, Margaret especially loved the young children. Margaret and John built and maintained homes in Midway and St. George, Utah. They were socially and civically active in Midway. Margaret relished the many family gatherings at their Midway Tranquilla ranch. She is survived by five children: Julie L. Davis (Joe), John C. (Sandi), Kevin (Diana), Janice and Bryan (Debbie), as well as 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, John; son, Robert; and great granddaughter, Emma. Margaret's subsequent health concerns brought her back to Salt Lake County where she resided at Highland Cove Care Center. She graciously shared her sense of humor with those around her. Her services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday March 19 at OplinHoopes Mortuary, 288 North Main Street in Heber City, Utah. Interment will follow at the family plot in the Midway City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Hospice of Utah or to charities of your choice. Originally published March 17, 2005 Alva G. Bird Alva G. Bird passed away in Lander, Wyoming on March 14, 2005. She was born in Gunnison, Utah on September 2, 1919 to the late Alvah Gates and Hugh & Dolores Kearns. She married Virgil Bird in January 1951. They moved with the U.S. Steel mine in 1963 to Lander Wyoming. She was a loved daughter, mother, sister and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She is survived by son Richard (Dayle) Bird of Lander, daughters, Susan (PJ) Goodman of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pam (Nick) Bebout of Riverton Wyoming, sisters Jeanna Hirschi of St. George and Carol Olpin of Walnut Grove, California, brother, Donovan Kearns (Vicki) of Salt Lake City and Sister-in-law Rhoda Kearns. She had 14 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil, brother Homer Kearns, brothersin-law, Harold Olpin and Blaine Hirschi and grandson Steve Leigh Cox. Services will be in Lander, WY on Friday 3-18 at 10:00 AM. Originally published March 17, 2005 Dorothy Reich Galyean Dorothy "Dottie" Reich Galyean, 80, passed away peaceably Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Las Vegas, following complications from pneumonia. She was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Vernal, Utah, the daughter of Orin and Nellie Murray Reich. Dottie lived in Colorado where she owned and managed a chain of restaurants prior to moving to Las Vegas in 1960. She was employed in the culinary industry for a number of years and moved to Springdale, Utah, when she retired. Although Dorothy had a limited formal education, she was self educated through her love of reading and inquisitive mind and was very knowledgeable in many different areas and subjects. When Dottie retired, she parlayed her sharp wit, great sense of humor, and keen business judgement to enjoy much satisfaction, success and notoriety as the author and distributor of Grandma Galyean's Little Books. Dorothy is survived by many loved ones including her daughter, Lois and son-in-law, Floyd Gray of New Castle, Colo.; son, Roy and daughter-in-law, Nancy Galyean of Las Vegas; daughter, Toni and son-in-law, Steve Allen of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. Dorothy will be greatly missed and remembered always by her family and friends. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in Springdale, Utah, at Jolley Gifford Cemetery.
