He and his wife Bonita moved to Santa Clara, Utah following his retirement from the Federal Aviation Agency in 2002. Mike was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the American Legion. Throughout his life he was an avid Stockcar racing fan and was a racecar driver in his youth. Mikes adventurous spirit enriched the lives of his family. He loved camping, fishing, exploring and traveling. His love of travel was passed down to his oldest grandson Jason. Mike is survived by his wife, Bonita, Son, Timothy, Daughters, Bernadette and Bonita and Grandchildren, Jason, Nicole, Brittany, Daniel, Ashley, Bonnie, Casey, Tim and Christopher (Grandpa's Firecracker) and two Great-Grandchildren. Mike was a loving husband, Father and Grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Services are under the direction of Heideman Mortuary, St. George Utah. Originally published March 18, 2005 Dorothy Reich Galyean Dorothy "Dottie" Reich Galyean, 80, passed away peaceably Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Las Vegas, following complications from pneumonia. She was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Vernal, Utah, the daughter of Orin and Nellie Murray Reich. Dottie lived in Colorado where she owned and managed a chain of restaurants prior to moving to Las Vegas in 1960. She was employed in the culinary industry for a number of years and moved to Springdale, Utah, when she retired. Although Dorothy had a limited formal education, she was self educated through her love of reading and inquisitive mind and was very knowledgeable in many different areas and subjects. When Dottie retired, she parlayed her sharp wit, great sense of humor, and keen business judgment to enjoy much satisfaction, success and notoriety as the author and distributor of Grandma Galyean's Little Books. Dorothy is survived by many loved ones including her daughter, Lois and son-in-law, Floyd Gray of New Castle, Colo.; son, Roy and daughter-in-law, Nancy Galyean of Las Vegas; daughter, Toni and son-in-law, Steve Allen of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. Dorothy will be greatly missed and remembered always by her family and friends. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 19, in Springdale, Utah, at Jolley Gifford Cemetery. Originally published March 18, 2005 Fredrick Jessop HILDALE - Fredrick Meade Jessop, 94, passed away March 15, 2005 at a medical center in a suburb south of Denver, Colorado, of causes incident to old age. He was born April 20, 1910 in Millville, Utah to Martha Yeates and Joseph Smith Jessop. He married Lydia Johnson August 4, 1935. Fred spent his youth very close to his father on the family farm in Millville. In 1935 he moved to Southern Utah. He was the acting bishop of the FLDS Church for many years and has been very instrumental in the community development and in the founding of many businesses. Through his administration farms were developed, a zoo was established and several parks were developed. He is very much loved and respected by all of his acquaintances. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the LSJ Meetinghouse. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to services. Both visitations will be at the LSJ Meetinghouse. Originally published March 18, 2005 Conch Levanger ORDERVILLE - Alonzo Burr "Conch" Levanger, age 83, passed away at his home in Orderville, Utah on March 17, 2005. He was born October 15, 1921 to Nils Christian and Charlotte Harris Levanger. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, and had worked in the coal mines and herded sheep for Merle Brinkerhoff and Charly Anderson. Conch married Amy Esplin Cox on September 14, 1956, and took responsibility of her four young children. She passed away June 7, 1998. Conch like to hunt and fish. He loved his garden and shared the produce with everyone. A highlight of his life was when he flew over Deer Springs and the area he had herded sheep in years before. Survivors include children Earl Levanger, Vern and Joyce Cox, Leon and LaRue Cox, Art and Roma Tait, and Bill and Myrna Cox; sisters Leah Brinkerhoff and Melba Terry, 24 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Amy, brothers Donald and Waldo Levanger, son Chris Levanger, and grandsons Johnathan Cox and John Cox. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the Orderville Utah LDS Chapel. Viewing will be held Monday morning from 9:45-10:45 AM at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Alton Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary. Originally published March 18, 2005 Faye Elizabeth Sjostrom Faye E. Sjostrom, age 76, completed her journey on Earth March 11, 2005, at her place of residency in St. George, UT. Born in Dylan, Montana, Oct. 5, 1928. A long time resident of Delta and St. George. Faye was a determined soul whose strength and love shined through in all of her endeavors. She was a magnificent gardener, golfer, bowler, daughter, wife, grandmother, friend and most of all, a loving mother. Survived by her two sons William Gaylan Gilmore and Carl Webster Gilmore, both of Winnsboro, TX, six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, a grandson and her husband, Norman M. Sjostrom. Graveside services and interment will be March 19, 2005, 3:30 p.m. at The Oasis Cemetery, Delta, UT.
