Sam was born in Richfield, Utah on April 28, 1939 to Wesley Blaine Cox and Esta Frances Orton Cox. Sam was their ninth child. Sam grew up in Beaver, Ut. Where he attended Belknap Elementary and Beaver High School. He was known for his quick speed on and off the track field. Sam moved to California for 5 years where he had extensive training in piano, vocal, and theater. He then moved to New York where he acted in off Broadway plays, and supported himself through his musical talents and managing an apartment building. One of Sam's favorite pass-times was studying the history of Utah. And finding information on his own family history. After moving home to help care for his Mother, he continued to share his musical talents with the community. He enjoyed being with family and friends and especially enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with the family. He loved long drives seeing the beauty around him. Sam brought a lot of happiness to the people through his music. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Jackson B. Cox, Dan E. Cox, David Ted Cox. Three sisters, Lila Cox, Donna Lee Cox Morris, Marie Botiller, Darlene Harris. Surviving Sam is one brother, William (Bill) and Irene Cox of Beaver. Graveside services will be held March 29, 2005 at 12:00 noon internment in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, Utah. The services are under the direction of Swindlehurst Funeral Home. Originally published March 28, 2005 Virginia Stephens Stevenson A Memorial Service will be held for Virginia Stephens Stevenson, 78, who passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at her home in Oceanside California. Virginia was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Cedar City, Utah. She married Boyd E. Stevenson on April 16, 1946 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She and her husband have resided in Oceanside, California for the past 28 years. She was a home-maker for 58 years. She was a member of the El Camino Country Club for 26 years. She enjoyed playing golf and was a tournament chairman. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Boyd E. Stevenson of Oceanside, California; daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Stan Lauchner of Novato, California; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 1:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West, Cedar City, Utah. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
