Phillips ST. GEORGE - Lenora Sorensen Phillips, 84, died April 29, 2005 in St. George, UT. She was born July 27, 1920 in Ovid, ID to Charles Christian and Marie Olsen Sorensen. She married Robert "Bob" Owen Phillips on August 31, 1940 in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death June 5, 1948. Lenora and her two sisters, Lucille and Doris, were raised in Ovid, ID. After the death of their mother, her and her two sisters moved to Los Angeles, CA to live with Aunt Nina and Uncle Charlie Green. She met Bob at the Inglewood, CA ward choir practice where they both sang. After their marriage, when Bob's health started to fail, they moved to St. George for better climate and purchased the Dodge Springs Ranch. For many years she was a valuable and loyal employee of St. George Bank, which later became Zions Bank. She also worked for Adams and Company which took her to Salt Lake City and Spokane, WA. After her return to St. George she worked for Brooks Pace during the construction of Ancestor Square and Dammeron Valley. Lenora loved to have her family around her. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to make her famous homemade fudge, pinoche and caramels. She was an excellent cook and many of her own personal recipes are cherished among the family. Her beautiful handmade quilts and cross-stitch and crochet pieces are treasured by her children and grandchildren. Lenora was an active member of the LDS church. Being musical, Lenora's callings were mostly with the ward choir and chorister. She loved music and after she was confined to her home and not able to attend church any more she looked forward to listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Sunday mornings. She is survived by her four sons, Clifford (Geri) of St. George, Douglas (Sue) of Denver, CO, Vern ( Fran) of Las Vegas, NV and Craig of Toquerville, UT; 12 grandchildren, Tyalee, Kari, Klay, Rob, Jennifer, Megan, Tyler, Julie, Breck, Trisha, Mike and Kristi; 28 great grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Caouette of Moab, UT.
