GEORGE - Veronica Call, age 67, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2005, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born February 8, 1938, in Bago, Negros Occidental, Philippines, a daughter of Nemesie and Felemina Nequin Balero. Veronica married Stuart Allen Call, Sr. on May 20, 1973, in San Antonio City, Zambales, Philippines. Veronica was raised and educated in Bago. After graduation from high school, Veronica moved near the Subic Bay Naval Station in Olongapo City, Zambales, Philippines, where she worked as a maid. It was there that she met Stuart. Theirs was a story of true love. They would have been married 34 years on May 20th. Veronica loved flowers, and yellow was her favorite color. She was a very compassionate, kind, and gentle woman who was always helping and sharing with others. Veronica loved to sit outside in the sun. She was very sociable and friendly, making friends wherever she went. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and an excellent cook. She will be greatly missed. Surviving family include her: husband, Stuart, of St. George; children, Gemma Angelyn Call, Adelita Basa and Rex B. (Mona) Call, all of the Philippines, Stuart Allen (Debbie) Call, Jr., of American Fork, UT, Stuart Allen Balero (Sandy LeFever) Call, III, of St. George, UT, and Judith Fabilane Ong, of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren; brother, Rogelio Balero, and sister, Virginia Balero, both of the Philippines. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel. Viewings will be held Sunday, May 15, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services, both at the Mortuary. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery. Originally published May 5, 2005 Doris Bauer CEDAR CITY - Doris Bauer, 71, returned safely home to our Heavenly Father on May 2, 2005. She was the seventh child born to John A. Bauer and Nola Martineau on November 22, 1933 in Mesquite, Nevada. Doris spent her childhood in Mesquite, Nevada, but spent most of her life in Cedar City. She also lived in Arizona and California.. Doris loved to cook, draw pictures, embroider and do arts and crafts. She loved flowers and sightseeing. She had visited most of the National Parks in our area. She won many blue ribbons for her arts and crafts at the Iron County Fair. She loved her family very much, and looked forward to visiting with them. She loved our Savior, Jesus Christ. Doris is survived by three sisters: Bernice Reber of St. George, Utah; LaRue (Robert L.) Gardner and Lillian (Jerry) Bryant of Cedar City, Utah and one brother, Ellis M. (Lupe) Bauer of Mesa, Arizona. And also by many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Rondo J. and Brenton A. Bauer, and one sister, Laura May Bauer. We would like to give special thanks to the many nurses, aides and staff and Dr. Gardner at Kolob Care Center in Cedar City, and to Odyssey Hospice for the love and care that they extended to Doris while she was there. Erma was born January 9, 1914, in Smoot, Wyoming, to Henry W. and Betsy Sarah Crook Erickson. She married George Budd Pead in the Logan LDS Temple, December 17, 1936. She was a homemaker raising 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. Erma was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and served in all the organizations of the LDS church. Erma is survived by her husband, Budd, children, Jeanette (Wayne) Denney, Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeanice (Monty) Harrison, Fort Collins, Colorado, daughter-inlaw, Sylvia Pead, Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeraldine (Sherrill) Shorter, Orem, Utah, Ballard (LeahMary) Pead, Orem, Utah, Brian (Corlie Ann) Pead, Layton, Utah, Orson (Donna) Pead, Orem, Utah, Patrica Pead, LaVerkin, Utah and Debra (Michael) Woodard, Saint George, Utah, 54 grandchildren, 124 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren. He joined the Army at the age of 16 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. Karl spent some time in San Diego, California. He moved to Parowan Utah in the mid 60's and opened his own mechanic shop. During Karl's life, he touched the heart of many people. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Originally published May 5, 2005 Jane Thomas Wolf MESQUITE, NEVADA - Jane Thomas Wolf, age 71, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005, in St. George, Utah. She was born December 16, 1933, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Herman and Mary King Thomas. Jane and Melvin E. Wolf were married April 4, 1953, in the Methodist Church in Olyphant, Pennsylvania. Born in Carbondale, Jane was raised and educated in Green Grove, Pennsylvania. Melvin had served two years of a four year enlistment at the time of their marriage, so they spent the first two years of their married life traveling and residing in several different cities. They raised their children in the Midwest and Arizona. They moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1973, and they resided there until their move to Mesquite in 2000. Jane was a stay-at-home mom while they raised their children. She later was employed in the medical profession as a Doctor's Assistant and Medical Records Clerk. She enjoyed her family and especially loved watching her sons participating in athletics and music. Jane enjoyed writing and was very talented as a writer. Surviving family include her: husband, Melvin, of Mesquite; sons, Melvin "Butch" E. Wolf, of Ft. Smith, AR, Mitchell E. (Brenda) Wolf, of Stansbury Park, UT, and Marshall E. Wolf, of St. George, UT; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Richard "Dick" Thomas, of Trucksville, PA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Mary; two brothers, Bob Thomas and John Thomas; and a sister, Ginger Jones-Thomas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at the Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 East Old Mill Rd., in Mesquite, with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until the times of services (Nevada time).
