The youngest of nine children, she was born to William Austin and Rosella Dorrity Barton on 30 June 1940 in Cedar City, Utah. Vesta Rae grew up in the small farming community of Paragonah, Utah, and graduated from nearby Parowan High School in 1958. She married her "high school steady," James C. Burt, in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple on 23 November 1963. Carlyle, their first son, and Koral, their daughter, were born while living in Cedar City. Vesta Rae and Jim moved to Carson City in October 1970, where Robert, their second son, was born. Vesta Rae was active in the women's and youth organizations of her church for many years. While Vesta Rae's condition in her final years sometimes limited her activity, she continued to give counsel and be involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, who valued her sage advice as a firm, no-nonsense, but loving mother. Vesta Rae was preceded in death by her father and mother, Austin and Rosella Barton; brother, Mark D. Barton; and sister, Dorothy Diel. She is survived by brothers Hanks Barton (Hilda) of Killeen, Texas; William (Norda) of Parowan, Utah; J Lynn (Joyce) of Deary, Idaho; and sisters LaRue Mitchell (Kenneth) of Yerington, Nevada; Rose Ann Mickelson (Douglas) of Winnemucca, Nevada; and Kathleen Orton (Roy) of West Valley City, Utah. Her immediate family survivors include her husband, James C. Burt of Carson City; son J. Carlyle Burt (Susann) of Spanish Fork, Utah; daughter Koral Lynn Reid (Shawn) also of Spanish Fork; son Robert A. Burt (Anne) of Provo, Utah; and grandchildren Katina, Kristopher, and Jonathan Burt; and JaNae, Tava, Mason, and Shawnyel Reid. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday, 5 May, at the Walton Funeral Home at 1281 North Roop St. in Carson City. Funeral services will be held the next day, Friday, at 12:00 noon at the LDS Stake Center, 411 North Saliman Rd., Carson City. Burial will be in Parowan, Utah; a viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Monday morning, 9 May, at the Southern Utah Mortuary, 15 East 100 North, Parowan, Utah, with graveside services following at the Parowan City Cemetery. Gilger, 70 years old, passed away suddenly on May 5, 2005 in his own home in Cedar City, Utah. He was born on March 13, 1935 in Parowan, Utah to Hugh and Mildred L. Gilger. He married Carolyn E. Gilger on May 1, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada and later solemnized in the St. George Temple on December 8th, 1978. Clinton was born and raised in Parowan, Utah, graduating from Parowan High School. His greatest passion in life were his wife, children, and grandchildren. He spent his life making his family happy. He was very kind-hearted, patient, honest and a man of integrity. He was a loving man, and would do anything to help others. He spent many years saving 'soles' for his career as the shoe repair man in Cedar City. He was also an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many callings such as a High Priest Leader, Sunday school president, a financial clerk, and currently being a ward mission leader. He is survived by his wife Carolyn E. Gilger, and his children; Jody (John) DeRyke of Cedar City, UT, Lynnette (Gregg) Lofgran of Salt Lake City, UT, Deanna (Garrett) Oleen of Austin, Texas, Allison (Stacey) Palmer of Cedar City, UT, Robert (Wendy) Keene of Cedar City, UT, David (Jamie) Keene of Cedar City, UT, Russell Gilger, Carey Gilger, 16 Grandchildren, 2 Great-grandchildren, and also his brothers; Darwin, Garth, and Basil. Clinton is preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Mildred Gilger, his brothers; Norman, Keith, Harry, and LaRae, and his sisters; Barbara Grimes and Freda Talbot. Originally published May 7, 2005 Bonnie Zitting Hunter COLORADO CITY, Ariz -Bonnie Elaine Zitting Hunter, 80, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2005 at her home in Colorado City, Arizona. She was born February 14, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William John Worth and Neta Elaine Hull Kilgrow. Bonnie was reared and educated in the Salt Lake area, and was the oldest of nine children. She was the wife of Charles Fredrick Zitting until his death in 1954. She later married Wayne Murdock Hunter in 1956. In 1989 Bonnie moved to Colorado City to be close to her children. Bonnie enjoyed crocheting, handiwork, traveling, reading and her family. She was a soft spoken, dignified mother, friend and lady. She is survived by her children: David, John, Charlene, Joyce, Leslie, Sherrell, James, Paul and Robert Zitting; Wayne, Jr., Sharon, Dale, Rulon, Douglas and Angela Hunter; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Raymond, Barbara, Jack, Joseph and Karene. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles and also her husband Wayne; son, Alfred, brother, Sherrell and sisters Genny and Margie. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 8, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the L.S. Johnson Meeting House. Originally published May 7, 2005 Richard 'Dick' Lee Stout ST. GEORGE - Richard Lee Stout, age 71, passed away early morning Thursday, May 5, 2005, at his home. He was born February 13, 1934, in Pocatello, Idaho to Wendell Franklin and Dale Thomas Stout. He married Shirley Ann Reedy on December 23, 1953, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Richard grew up in Boise, Idaho. He was flying by the age of 15. He joined the Air Force in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He was in the National Guard and Reserves until his retirement in 1989. Achieving the rank of Brigadier General. He joined the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller and retired 34 years later as Regional Military Liason Officer. Upon retirement, he taught Aeronics at Utah State University and Dixie College. He was hired as Hurricane Airport Manager in 1995. As a result of his achievements, the airport was recently renamed General Dick Stout Field. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Utah Division of Aeronautics for 55 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stout of St. George; 3 daughters: DeAnna (Jeff) Weaver, Holly Stout and Kimberly Stout; 3 grandchildren: Annie (Mike) Lynch, Justin Kilby and Hailey Bramlett; one great-granddaughter: Kaitlyn Lynch; brother: Robert (Kay) Stout; two sisters: Bonnie (Steve) Wilkins and Barbara (Gene) Starr. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Scott Wilkins. Funeral services will be Monday, May 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Spilsbury Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
