Joshua was known for his sensitive and helpful nature despite his somewhat unique appearance. He may now be able to find the peace he was unable to find here on earth. Joshua is survived by his precious little girl, Ivy Dusk Adams. He was a doting father and Ivy was the light of his life. He is also survived by one brother, Cache Benson; his mother, Debi Groves and stepfather G. Lanie Groves; his father, Martin (Marty) J. Benson IV and stepmother, Melva Benson; grandparents, Pat Campbell, Mazel K. and Gerry Callister, Martin and Arlene Benson, Suzanne and Ed Kennedy, and Joan Groves; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2005, 11 a.m. at the LaVerkin City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221. Originally published May 18, 2005 Roma Bentley Dalley CEDAR CITY - Roma Bentley Dalley, age 85, life-time resident of Parowan, Utah, passed away on May 15, 2005, after a short term stay at the Beaver Valley Care Center. She was born on October 15, 1919, in Parowan to John William and Hannah Laura Mickelson Bentley. Roma Bentley married Max S. Dalley on July 13th, 1942, in Lawton, Oklahoma. The marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple on July 18, 1964. Together they raised five children: Max Robert, Mahlon Bentley, John Lynn, Laurene Norma, and Randall Frank. Roma attended Parowan High School and after graduating she attended the Branch Agricultural College (BAC) in Cedar City for two years. She then went to Brigham Young University (BYU) for two more years where she graduated with a bachelor degree in elementary education and taught first through fourth grade one year in New Harmony, Utah. She met her sweetheart, Max S. Dalley, while attending BYU. They were married in Lawton, Oklahoma where Max was serving in the military. After leaving Oklahoma, they moved to Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee. Max went oversees serving in World War II, and Roma returned to Parowan where she resided with family. Upon his return, they established their home in Parowan. Five years later she moved with Max and their two small sons to Ft. Lewis, Washington when her husband was called to serve in the Korean War. When Max was deployed to Korea, Roma returned to Parowan. Roma faithfully supported Max and her country through the selling of many War Bonds. After the war, they continued to make their home in Parowan, where Roma was a devoted wife and mother. Roma was a member of the Parowan Literary Club and a daughter of the Utah Pioneers. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings within the Primary Cub Scouts, Young Women's, a teacher and president in Relief Society, and Temple Ordinance Worker. She had many talents such as crocheting and other hand-work in which she took great pride. Roma was a truly elegant lady who supported and loved her husband and family. All those who entered her home as a guest left as family. Her love of the arts and music reflected the atmosphere of her home. She was a talented artist, seamstress, cook, and shared these talents with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Max S. Dalley, and their five children: Robert (Jackie) of Beaver, Utah; Mahlon (Marianne) of Liberty Lake, Washington; John (Brenda) of Rockledge, Florida; Laurene (Norris) Brown of St. George, Utah; and Randy (Jaippy) of Kentwood, Michigan. There are 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Clara Knell, Gertrude Bentely, Alice Maude Bentley, Laura Pearl Mortinsen, Norma Miller (Roma's identical twin), one brother, Shelby Bentley, and a son-in-law, Bruce A. Holt. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Noal Robinson and the staff of the Beaver Valley Hospital and Long Term Care Center for their loving care. She was born November 21, 1915 in Bluff, Utah to Herbert Haven and Myrtle Porter Redd. She married Perry Lester Een, from Rudyard, Montana and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised seven children in North Salt Lake, UT. Six of whom served missions. Perry and Lola served a mission to Sacramento, CA. with a strong testimony of the gospel. After they served for many years in the St. George, UT temple. Lola truly loved the Temple and supporting her missionary children and grandchildren. She enjoyed serving others, noticing and doing her best to fill others needs. She also spent many hours making quilts and working on genealogy. Lola loved her beautiful gardens, fresh flowers andpreserving the fruit from her trees. She is survived by her Sister: Alene McDonald, children: LaMont Een, Hurricane UT, Kay (Don) Rasmussen, Brigham City UT, Patricia (Jay) Schiffman, Bountiful UT, David (Sandra) Een, Bountiful UT, Kim (Miriam) Een, Las Vegas NV, and Kristie (Steven) Heyborne, Hyde Park NY, and 27 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Originally published May 18, 2005 Karl Byron Harrison RICHFIELD - Karl Byron Harrison, 69, of Richfield, Utah, passed away peacefully and never complaining May 16, 2005, in Richfield. He was surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born September 4, 1935, in Payson, Utah, to Carl and LaVaun Benson Harrison and raised in Cedar City, Utah. He married Mary Lee Isbell, August 17, 1962, in the Manti LDS Temple. Byron was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was devoted to making life better for others and providing for his family. He never wavered in testimony and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Byron completely endured to the end, leaving his legacy of faith and love in the hearts and lives of all who knew him. He was a valiant, stalwart disciple of Jesus Christ always teaching by the scriptures and through his own example. He will always be remembered as an honorable man of integrity. Byron graduated from SUU, New York School and Chicago School of interior design. He took advanced training in art and design at BYU where he was also a lecturer . He served an LDS Mission to the Eastern States. Byron was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various callings including: six stake missions and ward mission leader. Byron worked at Utah Valley Furniture in Provo, Leigh Furniture in St. George, Antones' Interiors in Cedar City, as an instructor in business at Sevier Valley Technology in Richfield for 30 years, and taught five years at Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison. After retiring he found passion in restoring old cars including his 67 Impala, 64 VW Bug, 76 Chevy luv. He loved books and reading especially gospel doctrine. He enjoyed being at his ranch in Pinto, Utah, deer hunting, pine nut hunting, and antique collecting. He especially found joy in attending activities of children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee, Richfield; children, Michele Haymond, Federal Way, WA; Lance Karl (Andrea) Harrison, Preston, ID; Heather (Travis) Barker, Payson; Shane Harlan (Hanh) Harrison, Vietnam; Brandon Lee (Jennifer) Harrison, Salt Lake City; and Heidi Harrison, Spanish Fork; 13 grandchildren: Alyssa, Haylee, Morgan, Kendon, Brooke, Sydney, Josh, Jake, Jessica, Brady, Korynne, Aleah, James; brother, Grant (Pat) Harrison, St. George; and a sister, Carla (Blair) Mitchell, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents. At Byron's request a celebration of his life and funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2005, at 12 Noon in the Richfield 7th Ward LDS Chapel, 159 N. 400 W. Originally published May 18, 2005 Kenneth W. Riddle ST. GEORGE - Kenneth W. Riddle, 73, died at home on May 15, 2005 after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born September 6, 1931 to Irene Andrus and Warren C. Riddle and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and attended West High School. He joined the Marines, became a Staff Sgt and fought in Korea. He was a member of the elite group, the "Chosen Few". He retired from UDOT after 35 years and loved gardening and always had a beautiful yard. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Gary, Laurie (Chris) Jensen, Kenny and Cory (Lorraine); grandchildren, Allexis, Andrew, Heather and Theo; brother, Jack; and sister, Donna Arshine.
