He was born on October 10, 1919 to Carl and Minnie John Jake. He married Yetta Rice on October 5, 1981 in Parowan, Utah. He was a Father and Grandfather to each and everyone who came across his path. He was a very respected man who was well-known around the Indian country. He was a guest speaker at numerous functions, and a spiritual advisor for the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah. He was in the 1st Indian Peaks Band Chairman, and represented the Paiute Nation in Congress in Washington D.C. Clifford also served our country in World War II from 1943 - 1948. Clifford is survived by his children; Darlena Bear of Ft. Washakie, WY, Bryant (Vicky) Jake of Enoch, Althea (Bobby Sr.) Serawop of Ft. Duchesne, Utah, Marilyn Jake of Cedar City, Wilber (Heather) Jake of Enoch, sisters; Shirley Bowman of Enoch, and Earnestine Lehi of Cedar City, and one brother, Wilford Jake of Washington, Utah, grandchildren; Kirby Jake, Connie Jake, Kelby and Lahoma Jake of Cedar City, Kyle Jake, Telson, Emery, and Draven Jake of Ft. Hall, ID, Tiria Jake of Cedar City, Clifford and Angela Serawop of Artisia, N.M., Ward and Danette Serawop, Bobby Jr. and Lina Serawop, Emir Serawop all of Ft. Duchesne, Utah, Blaine and Jane Bear of Albuquerque, NM, Garth Jr. and Luanne Bear of Skull Valley, Utah, Therese and David Martin of Ft. Washakie, WY, numerous great-grandchildren, and three great, great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; Carl and Minnie John Jake, wife; Yetta Rice Jake, sisters; Edurine Kanosh and Geneva Anderson, brothers; John Jake Sr. and Manuel Jake. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, May 26, 9:00 a.m. at the Tribal Building. Patten, 87, passed away May 15, 2005 in St. George, Utah. She was born June 30, 1917 in Shoeburyness, England to Leonard Clempson and Elizabeth Annie Lawrence Clempson. She married Clyde T. Patten of Orem, Utah in Epson Downs, England on January 17, 1947. Educated in England and Switzerland, Lillian worked as a driver for the U.S. Army in SHAEF headquarters in London during WWII. There she met and later married Clyde. After the war, and a brief period with the U.S. Army in Germany, they moved to Orem. Living in American Fork, Utah, for the most of her married life, Lillian enjoyed golf and flower gardening. She was a past woman's auxiliary president of Alpine Country Club. And her garden won several awards in American Fork. After Clyde retired in 1982, they lived at Redlands RV Park in Washington City, Utah during the winters. In April 2002, they moved to Washington City permanently. After 56 years of marriage, her husband Clyde passed away in 2003. Lillian is survived by son David and daughter-in-law Anne. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 27, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Originally published May 24, 2005 Jessie Abbott Lee Jessie Abbott Lee, 61, of Mesquite, Nevada passed away on May 21, 2005 in Mesquite, Nevada. Jessie was born December 24, 1943 to Lydia Knight and Lyman Boyd Abbott in St. George, Utah. Jessie married her sweetheart Bill O. Lee on June 22, 1962 in the St. George Temple. Jessie lived most of her life in Mesquite. After Bill and Jessie were first married, they moved away for four years while Bill attended Dixie College and Southern Utah University. Jessie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was always faithful in her ward and stake callings, always giving 110%. With her husband and parents, she owned and operated the Hardy's Deluxe Motel, the Mobile Service Station and the Chalet Restaurant for 18 years. Later, she helped her two sons start and operate two Burger King Restaurants. The last five years she has worked at Ace Hardware. Jessie always lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed sewing and making crafts. She enjoyed these hobbies more as she was able to do them with the grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, devoting her life to serving, playing with and loving her family. Survivors include her husband Bill, of Mesquite; a daughter Keri (Todd) Leavitt of Mesquite; two sons, Charlie (Sandra) Lee of Mesquite, and Samuel (Shaunna) Lee of Bunkerville; her father, Lyman Abbott of Mesquite; 13 grandchildren, Jessica, Kirsten, Mersadie, Dayton, Kenadie, Kamille, Kimball, Jalee, Savannah, Brooke, Thomas, Keaton and Kristopher; siblings, Imagene (Ken) Carter of Mesquite; Perry (Cherryl) Abbott of Mesquite; Lyman K. (Beverly) of Henderson, NV; Stephen Lee (Marci) Abbott of Centerville, UT; Laren (Elaine) Abbott of Mesquite, Nevada; and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorene, her mother Lydia and her grandson, Jared. Funeral services will by Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 11 a.m at the Mesquite Whipple Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Whipple Chapel, and again on Wednesday, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Originally published May 24, 2005 Janis Jones Burgess Payne (Service Correction) HURRICANE - Janis Jones Burgess Payne died May 20, 2005 in Hurricane. She was born March 9, 1939 in Garfield, Utah to Donald Jones and Ione May Moss. She married Jack Burgess in 1954 and later divorced. She married Gerald Payne on Sept. 7th 1963. Janis worked 17 Years at the Nevada Club in Reno. Then worked in Nursing homes in both St. George & Hurricane. She enjoyed gardening, the Southern Utah Mountains, and sharing her crocheting, needlepoint and handiwork with family and friends. Janis is survived by her daughter Kristine Goodro of Springdale, Ut. Four brothers William Holsten (Alice) of Murray, Ut., John Clarke McFarlane (Betty) of Yucca Valley, Ca., Randy Holsten (Debi) of Heber, Ut., Danny Holsten of Salt Lake, one sister, Lou Ann Holsten of Salt Lake, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, her daughter Kimberly Reed, and her brother Gary Holsten. Originally published May 24, 2005 Aaron Charles Robison 'I'll wait for you one step beyond the moon' CEDAR CITY - Aaron Charles Robison, age 68, fought a courageous fight with leukemia before returning to his Father in Heaven on May 21, 2005 in St. George, Utah, surrounded by his loving family. Aaron was born in Garfield, Utah December 10, 1936 to Owen and Mary Robison. He grew up in the Salt Lake City area and graduated from Cyprus High School in 1955. He attended the University of Utah and studied business management. On February 8, 1956, he married his sweetheart in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. Together they raised four children; Brent, Keith, Larry and Raelyn. He was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest and served in five different Bishoprics as well as other numerous callings. Together with his wife, they worked in the St. George L.D.S. Temple. With a love for the gospel and wanting to share it with others, they were able to serve in the Massachusetts, Boston Mission. He was always a great example to those around him. He worked at many different businesses including Kennecott, Coca Cola, Folgers Equipment and Scott Machinery. The family moved to Cedar City in 1976. He owned and operated Robison Rentals and later with the help of his son also formed Robison Outdoor Power Equipment. He loved the community of Cedar City and participated in many different activities. He was the Lyons Club President in 1983 - 1984. He enjoyed flying and had his pilot's license during the time in Salt Lake City. He later changed that enjoyment into building and flying remote control airplanes. His greatest passion was his family. He loved being in the mountains spending time with them camping, fishing, hunting, riding 4-wheelers, and snowmobiling. He was the perfect example to his family and we know he had a great love for us and we have a great love for him. We will miss our husband, father and grandfather, but know we will be together again. He is survived by his wife, Raezell of Cedar City, his sons; Brent (Scilla) of Clearfield, Keith (Alice) of Cedar City, and Larry (Sophie) of Cedar City, 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one brother; Don (Bonnie) of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Beth, and daughter; Raelyn. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, May 23, 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar City University Stake Center located at 520 S. 1100 W. Friends may visit on Tuesday evening, May 24, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning, May 23, 9:30-10:30 a.m. both viewings at the Southern Utah Mortuary.
