Sally was born on May 12, 1919 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to John J. and Nellie Dorrington Scarborough. She spent her childhood in Casper, Wyoming and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1937. In spite of her mother's protestations, Sally married John Buford Jacobsen on June 26, 1938. The marriage endured for 67 years. During the couple's years in Wyoming, they resided in Rawlins, Worland, Dubois and Lander. In 1959 the family moved to Salt Lake City where they remained for 15 years, before moving to St. George in 1974. Sally was employed for a number of years as the advertising copywriter for Grand Central Stores. She was also a frequent contributor to the Salt Lake Tribune's Forum and Common Carrier, as well as the Forum of St. George's Daily Spectrum. Sally was an active member of Community Baptist Church in St. George. She was a charter member of the Color Country Ramblers, a southern Utah Good Sam chapter. Survivors include her husband of St. George, three children: Karen Cox of Garden Grove, CA, Sandra Williams of Salt Lake City and John Michael Jacobsen of Payson, Arizona.
