Pauline "Polly" Gunson JUNCTION CITY, Oregon - M. Pauline "Polly" Gunson, 82, lifetime resident of Junction City, Oregon, passed away November 21, 2005. She was born November 4, 1923 in Eugene, Oregon to Wallace and Gertrude (Robnett) McKercher. She married John R. Gunson in Junction City, Oregon on December 10, 1943. She graduated from Junction City High School and worked in partnership for 34 years with her husband, John, at their business, Gunson Appliance. She enjoyed sewing, bridge, community service, and maintained their property on the Metolius River. She was Matriarch Annual Gunson Family Reunion, Tournament Chairman Ladies Golf Association in St. George, Officer in American Legion Auxiliary. She received the Gale Fletchall Award as Program Chairman Scandinavian Festival for first 17 years. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John R. Gunson; daughters: Sharon Friess of Salem, Oregon and Pam Edwards of Portland, Oregon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Junction City Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home with burial immediately following at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Originally published November 23, 2005 Christopher Martin Wood CARLIN, Nev. - Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, Christopher Martin Wood, passed away in Carlin, Nevada on November 20, 2005. Chris was born January 30, 1959 to Blaine and Wanda Wood in Cedar City, Utah. He graduated from Cedar High School and served in the 222nd Field Artillery of the Utah National Guard. A talented driller, Chris worked in various areas of the country and at Newmont Gold Mine in Carlin, NV for the past several years. Chris married the love of his life, Melody Larson, on November 5, 1988 in Basin, MT. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many happy hours hunting, fishing and gathering wood. He learned woodworking and did many beautiful projects in their yard. Chris and Melody spent fun times on "Spot" his (member of the family) Harley Davidson motorcycle. A most treasured memory was when he and Melody recently took son Codi sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River. Chris loved all of his family unconditionally and they loved him. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. Chris is survived by his loving wife, Melody, beloved son William Codi Wood, currently serving in the U.S. Navy stationed in Honolulu, HI, mother Wanda Wood, sister Pamela (Boyd) Redington, brother Robert Courtney (Phyllis) Wood, two nephews, Kirk Allen (Dede) Orton, Kevin (Becky) Orton, one niece, Camille (Charles) Woolsey, brother-in-law Tom Larson and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Blaine Wood. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 25, 3:00 p.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary located at 190 N. 300 W. Cedar City, Utah. Originally published November 23, 2005 Ina Gardner McQuarrie BEAVER - Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away at the age of 99, In Beaver, Utah, where she lived for 75 years. She was born September 24, 1906 in Fort Duchesne, Utah. She married Edward Snow McQuarrie, M.D. in the Salt Lake Temple on November 28, 1928. He preceded her in death in 1972. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the different organizations. She loved gardening, fishing, traveling and reading. She made many items using various types of handiwork, among them many beautiful quilts for her children and grand children. At 98 she was still helping make home made chocolates for Christmas gifts. She was also active in community service. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Ina Marie (Rex Christensen), Joyce (Dan Joseph), and Rhonda McQuarrie. She has 10 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all living. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2005, in the First-Ward Chapel at 1:00 P.M. Viewings will be held at the church Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and prior to the funeral beginning 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 in the Relief Society Room. Originally published November 23, 2005 LaVon Urie LaVon Urie, age 76, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005. He was born June 25, 1929 in Cedar City, UT to John Milton and Ruth Gottfredson Urie. He attended Cedar City High School and later graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in engineering. He married Mary Evelyn Carpenter in the Manti Temple June 4, 1954. He worked as a civil engineer until his retirement. He was also active in the Air Force Reserve for many years. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served a full-time mission in the Northern States, served in various church callings including ward clerk, stake high counselor, and stake librarian. He was currently a temple worker at the Bountiful Temple, which gave him great joy and fulfillment. LaVon was a wonderful father, neighbor, and friend. He never knew a stranger. He is survived by his three children, Karen Longmore (Keith), Kim Urie, Jane Gould (Charles), and brothers, Gene Urie (Inez) and John Urie (Ollie), 10 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. The family would like to thank all the wonderful neighbors and friends who have taken such good care of him the past few years. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife of 43 years, and his brother, Hurschell Urie. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 45th Ward Chapel, 115 Wicker Lane. Truman passed away November 15, 2005 at his home in Springville, Utah. Preston was born Sept. 1, 1918 in Enterprise, Utah to Jacob T. and Emily Hall Truman. He married Della Adair June 30, 1939 in the St. George Temple. She preceded him in death March 13, 1987. He married Madge Haymond September 12, 1987.
