She was 64 years old. She was born Feburary 19, 1941 in Ogden, Utah to Robert Lesley and Irene College Durrant. She married Gary Lester Ashton, April 27, 1959 in Mesquite Nevada. Survived by: her huaband, Gary Lester Ashton, Hurricane, Utah; children, Gary (Angela) Ashton, Santaquin; Tammie Raychal Ashton (Christy Ellis), Belleville, Illinois; grandchildren, Jamilynn, Nicholas, Jordan, Riley, Tristan, Kayden, Micah & Kristy; great-grandchild, Bailee Nicole Wray; a much loved former daughter-in-law, Lisa Pollock; sisters, June (Sterling) King, Norma (Ron) Larson, Jimmy (Jackie) Durrant, Scott (Lois) Durrant, Kathy (Bill) Jenkins, Stan Durrant, Lynn (Janae) Durrant, Peggy Durrant, Jay (Tori) Durrant, Mary Egbert, Kenny (Ann) Durrant and Joe (Kay) Durrant; and many much loved nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Charlotte Faye Ashton; 2 sisters, Dorothy (Junior) Higley and Barbara (Norman) Draney; 4 brothers-in-law, Sterling King, Norman Draney, Jeff Tams and LeRay Ashton. Memorial services will be Saturday, November 26, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, where friends may call 1 hour prior to services. GEORGE - Ruby Claudine Meecham Iverson, age 82, died November 21, 2005, in St. George, Utah. She was born December 3, 1922, in Ely, Nevada. Her parents were Claud V. Meecham and Elsie V. Fowler. She married Lawrence Iverson on June 21, 1940, in the St. George LDS Temple. She lived in Baker, NV., and surrounding areas until she was 12 years old, at which time her family moved to St. George, UT. She attended school and graduated from Dixie High School. She was an active member of the LDS Church and she served in many auxiliary positions both on ward and stake levels. She loved hand work of any kind and her children and grandchildren were all recipients of her crocheted afaghans and other handiwork. She was a beautiful quilter and spent many hours piecing or appliqueing quilts for family and friends. She also did a lot of quilting for other people. After retiring, she and her husband enjoyed traveling to see much of the western United States. They had many close friends who they traveled with to various fiddling contests and music festivals around the country. Her greatest joy was her family and she loved to have them all gather for family events. She is survived by her husband of 65 years and her five children: Wayne (Karren) of Henderson, NV., Kenneth (Barbara) of Montrose, CO., Larry (Carolyn) and Glenda (Don Reid) of St. George and Joanne (Rick Christy) of Washington, UT., 19 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the St. George LDS 9th Ward Chapel, 550 W. 700 S. A visitation will be held Friday, from 6-8 p.m., at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., and Saturday, from 9:30-10:45 a.m., prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-4221.
