Haydon was born in Mt. Dora, New Mexico, to Albert H. and Rosetta E. Briggs, second of four brothers. After graduation from Mt. Dora High School, Haydon worked at the Wingate Army Depot in Gallup, New Mexico. During that time, he joined the U.S. Air Force 40th Bomb Squad, and fought proudly in WWII. When honorably discharged, he fell in love and married Melrose Marie Jaggers on July 18, 1947. They had two children, a daughter, Kerry Melrose, and a son, Barry Val (deceased). In 1956 they moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he worked at the Navajo Army Depot until he retired in 1974. Haydon and Melrose moved to Blanding, Utah after they both were retired in 1982, where they have loved and enjoyed each other for many years. Haydon loved his family, and spent time teaching them everything he knew about horses, hunting and fishing. He took pride in his race horses, which he raced in Flagstaff, Prescott, and Santa Fe. He had hunting skills that none could match, especially his knowledge of guns. He took pride in everything he did, and passed that on to all of us. His greatest passion was the love and care that he had for his family. Grandpa was a very special person. We will always carry with us his love and strength in our hearts. He will be deeply missed. Haydon is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 58 years, Melrose Marie Briggs; daughter, Kerry (Tony) Certonio; grandchildren, Danny Briggs, Tracy Todd Farnsworth, Glyn Certonio, and Tony (Lisa) Certonio; greatgrandchildren, Ashlee, Trent, Jaden, and Trinity.
