Mr. Edwards was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was the son of the late James Hugh Edwards and Adilade Parks Hensley. Mr. Edwards was blessed with two good careers; as a young man, he served on the fire department for the City of Pasadena, CA. Then later was a builder and remodel homes and properties. He enjoyed being a fan of all sports activities, and played a decent game of golf at times. "My greatest blessing was that I was in love every day of my life. Since I met my wife and was loved by her each and every one of those days; a person cannot be more blessed than that." He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Giles Edwards, daughter Stacie Edwards Hodes and her husband Wayne of Mandeville, LA, son Eric Hugh Edwards of Oklahoma City, OK, his step mother Doris Edwards of Snellsville, GA, two sisters Billie Jo Bellerue and her husband Ken of Henderson, NV and Candice Lee Weitz and her husband Barry of Hereford, AZ, three grandchildren, Vincent Edwards Velarde, Sarah Velarde and Whitney Edwards, A son Marc went to the Kingdom in 1997. A memorial service will be held at Twiford Funeral Home at a time at a time to be announced. Originally published October 12, 2005 Michael David "Mick" Bromley Michael David "Mick" Bromley, age 53, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2005, at Austin, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 9, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Francis Cassity and Haru Speer Bromley. He married KimberLee Thompson in the Salt Lake Temple. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2005, at 12:00 noon at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, with viewings Friday, October 14, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services, both at the Mortuary. Originally published October 12, 2005 Benjamin Niels Mecham CEDAR CITY - Benjamin "Benjy" Niels Mecham passed away Sunday October 9th, 2005. He was born June 3, 1974 in Phoenix, Arizona. His parents were Frank Riggs and Anna Charee Harris Mecham. Benjy spent his early years in Wichita, Kansas, Parowan, Utah, and Sandy, Utah, but home to Ben was always Parowan. He has been a resident of St. George for the past several years. Benjy had a child-like passion for life. He loved discovering and learning new things. Those things in life that many take for granted like the beauty of nature, the joys of family togetherness, the smiles and laughter of children were valuable treasures to him. He was deeply grateful for any kindness extended to him and made dear friends of everyone he met. Ben was known to make selfless sacrifices for those he loved, revealing the beauty that was in him. He spoke often of his love for those he met through the Southwest Center in St. George. His life was enhanced by the relationships he developed there. Benjy was a talented finish carpenter. He loved his trade and felt reverence for his God-given talent. Benjy faced challenges in life that would have humbled the greatest of men. He fought a 17-year battle, searching for the peace that constantly eluded him. Despite his trials, he was always drawn back to the faith of his fathers. "Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy." (Matt. 5:7) He was loved in life by many and will be missed dearly in death. He is survived by grandparents, Richard "Tom" (Carol) Harris of Parowan, Utah, Neoma Mecham of Gilbert, Arizona, brother, Joshua Mecham of Salt Lake City, Utah, sister, Chari (Shane) Prisbrey of Cedar City, Utah, step-sister, Tammy (Jared) Rickett of West Valley, Utah, step-mother, Colleen Mecham Eugster of Evanston, Wyoming, nephews, Nash, Murphy, Kirby, nieces, Jayde and Kensley. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandmother, Beverly Harris, and grandfather Gerald Mecham. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Rock Church. Reed was born in Logan, Utah November 17, 1906, the fourth child of Mary Hendricks and Herschel Bullen Jr. Reed married Kathryn Bowen on March 31, 1939. Their children include Mary Ann (Grayson S.) Wright Salt Lake City, Utah, Brooks (Dr. F. Zane) Jessen Ogden, Utah, Dr. Reed & Terri (Duran) Bullen, Logan, Utah, Jonathan William & Julie (Harris) Bullen, Rancho Sante Fe, California, Kathryn Louise (Mark B.) McEvoy Dammeron Valley, Utah. Reed had 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Herschel Keith, Lavona, Helen and Thurlow (Tad) Hendricks Bullen. One surviving sister-in-law, Marjorie Q. Bowen lives in Logan, Utah. Reed was an eternal optimist and had a very positive outlook throughout his diverse and industrious life. In addition to his many achievements he loved to fly fish, dance, garden, support Aggie athletics and play golf. He had a long and productive career in business, civic and church work. Reed along with his father brought radio broadcasting (KVNU 1938) to Cache Valley. He later brought cable television (North Utah Community TV) to Cache Valley in 1971. Reed as "Man on the Street" was recognized and well known for interviews and editorials about many issues concerning Cache Valley. Reed had 58 years of continuous service in broadcasting (KVNU & KVFM) and was inducted into the Utah Broadcasters Hall of Fame, (1985). Reed served six terms as a senator in the Utah State Senate, (1955-76). He distinguished himself as whip, majority leader and president (1963) and served three terms as chairman of the Legislative Higher Education Committee. He was a member of the Logan Rotary Club (1943-2006) and a lifetime member of the USAC Alumni Association. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, a charter member of Gamma Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi at USU (1925), a charter member of Round Valley Development Association, (1938), and an Honorary Colonels of the Utah National Guard, (1965). A lifelong loyal Aggie, Reed graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1929 with a degree in business, received the Distinguished Service Award (1977) and was awarded an honorary degree as Doctor of Business in 1999. He also did postgraduate work at the University of Utah and Stanford University Law School and later served on the USU Board of Trustees. Reed served as bishop of the Logan Eleventh Ward (1951-1958), Stake President of the USU first stake (1959-1972), Stake Patriarch (1972-1978), and Logan Temple President (1978-84). Reed fell in love with his beloved wife Kathryn in 1937 and continues loving her and his family each and every day. While he traveled the world there was no place he would rather be than in his much loved Cache Valley. Reed's strong belief in the Gospel guided his life of faith and service to his Church, family and community. We will miss him and celebrate his example of a wonderful life lived very well indeed. A viewing will be held Friday Oct. 14th from 6-8PM at Allen-Hall Mortuary 34 East Center Street in Logan and on Saturday Oct. 15th at 10AM at the church. Funeral services will begin at 11AM on Saturday Oct. 15th at the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward chapel at 1260 North 1600 East in Logan, Utah. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Reed Bullen Scholarship, College of Business at Utah State University. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
