She married Merritt Dailey Beard February 19, 1955 in Milford, Utah. She has lived most of her life in Milford. She got her degree in college in Botany. She loved to travel and collect things, especially seashells. She was a good cook and was a very loving and giving person.She was member of the LDS Church and served in many positions in- cluding going on a mission. She is survived by her husband Merritt of Milford, one son David Beard of St George. One broth- er, Arthur Hansen of Kansas and two sisters, Connie Borrowman of Bountiful and Rhoda Miller of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was pre- ceded in death by a son Dan Beard and a brother Alvin Hansen. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2005 at 3:00PM at the grave side at Milford Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. GEORGE - Catharina Wilhelmina Day, age 82, died August 31, 2005 in St. George, Utah. She was born July 27, 1923 in S'Hevtogenbosch, Netherlands to Johannes W. Geyen and Henrica Geyen (Mulder). She married Joseph A. Day in Maastricht, Netherlands on April 6, 1945. Catharina was raised in Maastricht, Netherlands. She attended 13 years of school. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. She has lived in the Netherlands; Ramah, New Mexico; Orem, Utah; and St. George, Utah.She enjoyed shopping, RVing, reading, needle point, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband; Joseph A. Day of St. George, UT, children; Henrica (Russ) Os- tler of St. George, UT, John (Michael) Day of Manteca, CA, grandchildren; Toby Ostler, Tracy Crane, Michele Day, Lanette Day, Jennifer Day, six great- grandchildren, four siblings, and nephew Martin Brouns. She was preceded in death by four siblings. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 19399 E. Highway 120, Ripon, California, 95366. Visitations will be on Saturday, September 3, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, UT 84770 and in California on Wednesday, September 7, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to services at the Church. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Es- colon, California following services. Larkin, 64, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 at UMC of Las Vegas. Verl and Merl, his twin brother were born June 20, 1941 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Merlin and Iola Sherratt Larkin. Verl married Joanne and they were later divorced. He married Hazel, she died in August of 1998. He married Billie Jo McDaniel on January 12, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Billie Jo Larkin of Mesquite, NV; a daughter, Tammy (Kerry) Suess; three sons Terry (Ramona) Lar- kin; Earl (Sharon) Larkin; and Mitch (Karen) Larkin; a stepson Patrick (Kelli) Perkins; a stepdaughter Kim Perkins; 15 grand- children, Nathan, Amanda, Mike, Kristen, Ryan, Haley, Amber, C.J., Kyle, Jorea, Destiny, Autumn, Paula, Niel, Nieca; and two great grandchildren, Spencer and Abby. Verl is also survived by four brothers, Frank (Gusti) Lar- kin; Bob (LaVerne) Larkin; Merl (Carol) Larkin; and Kenneth Lar- kin; two sisters, Naomi (John) MacArthur; and Nancy (Paul) McKay. Verl was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Iola, two brothers Ron and Lamoin. Funeral services will be held Sat-urday, September 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Whipple Chapel, located on Arrowhead Lane. A viewing will be held Friday, September 2, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Virgin Valley Mortuary, located at 320 East Old Mill Road, and again Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the chapel. GEORGE - Kennith LeRoy Preston age 73, passed away peacefully September 1, 2005 at his home after a short battle with cancer. Ken was born on July 28, 1932 in Declo, Idaho to Clifford and Oneata Preston. He married KayLene Farnes on September 4, 1959 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Ken served his country in the Army in 1953 and 1954 as a tank commander in Germany. Ken and KayLene opened R & K's Bookstore in November of 1976 and operated it until July of 2005. Ken loved raising his family in the book business and appreciated the many loyal friends and customers that he had the privilege of knowing over his 28 1/2 years in St. George. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was blessed to serve in many callings. Ken grew up on the farm and never lost his love for working the soil. He loved working on his ranch in Enterprise. He loved to have his grandchildren with him and taught them all how to drive his Allis-Chalmers tractor. His family came first and could be considered his primary hobby. Ken is survived by his eternal companion KayLene Farnes Preston of St. George, Utah, chil- dren Richard (Ember) Preston of St. George, Utah, Kyle (Marlena) Preston of Enterprise, Utah, Kenna (Kevin) Bowler of Brookside, Utah, Kayla (Travis) Alldredge of Diamond Valley, Utah, 15 grand- children and 4 step grandchil- dren. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, two children: Kellene Preston and K. Lynn Preston and five brothers. Services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at 11:00 am in the St. George 2nd ward main street chapel. Friends and family may call on Friday eve- ning, September 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Heideman Mor- tuary 170 South Mall Dr., St. George, Utah and Saturday, September 3rd from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the Main Street Chapel. Internment will be in the Enterprise City Cemetery immediately following the service. Arrangements are made under the direction of Heideman Mortuary.
