He was born on April 21, 1957 in Cedar City, Utah to James Elmer and Leona Brooks Hardy. Roger was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Leona Brooks Hardy of Las Vegas, Nevada, brother, James (D.D.) Hardy of Las Vegas, Nevada, and sisters, Caroline (Grant) Lang of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jane (Warren) Hughes of Cedar City, Utah, and Jaunita (Chuck) Mannie of Las Vegas, Nevada. Roger is preceded in death by his father James Hardy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon, September 3, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the West View Ward building located on Hwy 56 in Cedar City, Utah. Family and friends may call on Saturday, September 3 at 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the church. Interment will be in the LaVerkin Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to our website at www.sumfamily.com Originally published September 3, 2005 Jack Pettingill HURRICANE - Jack Pettingill, age 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005 in St. George Utah, of heart related issues. His wife and children were at his side at his passing. Born Sept 12, 1921 in Rigby Idaho to John Ulysses and Armeda Josephine Johnson Pettingill, he was the fifth of six children. After Graduating from Rigby High School he joined the Army to help with the war effort in World War II. Upon returning from his Army service Jack started a business in Pocatello, Idaho where he met and married Phyllis Jean Ward on September 29, 1945. In 1959 Jack and Phyllis moved their family to Yakima Washington where they lived until Nov 2005, at which time they moved to Hurricane Utah. Jack worked for Prudential Insurance for 30 years until he retired in 1984. Jack and Phyllis were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Utah, LDS Temple in Feb. 1972. Jack was survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters Margot (Gary) Thornton of Bothell Washington, Cindy (Ron) Sanislo of Moses Lake Washington, Linda Pettingill of Hurricane Utah, son Rick (Marilyn) Pettingill of North Salt Lake Utah, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and his brother Dean Pettingill of Thayne, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Joseph and Vern and two sisters Glenda Geisler and Rhea Covington. Jack was very proud of his children, their spouses and his grand children. He loved them all greatly. Jack will be missed by all, but mostly by is his companion of 60 years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept 3rd at the North Salt Lake Parkway Stake Center, 55 East 350 North, North Salt Lake Utah at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Lakeview Memorial Garden, Bountiful Utah. Originally published September 3, 2005
