He was born on September 4, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to DeLane and Anna Marie Neilson Johnson. He married LesLee Dawn Wood on February 14, 1987, which was later solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They were later divorced, but during their marriage a beautiful daughter was born to them on June 8, 1989 - Lindsey was her father's whole life. Laney was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was dedicated to sharing the gospel. He served in many capacities of the church including ward missionary leader. He was unable to walk and talk for 10 years, but this never stopped him. Laney's love of Jesus Christ and his faith in the LDS Church gave him the strength to bear such a crippling disease. Always willing to endure to the end, Laney accomplished more in his 12 years of sickness than most people do in a lifetime. Laney has always made us proud, whether he was on the wrestling mat or being the World's Greatest Dad. His example has given us all hope, and we will carry his memory with us as a reminder to live life passionately and full of love. He is survived by his daughter, Lindsey Rachelle Johnson; brother, Jeffrey Johnson; sister, DeAnn (Russell) Holm all of Milford, Utah; sister, Debra (Jose) Garcia of Elko, Nevada; and his special angel Bonnie (Dennis) Hardy of Milford, Utah. Laney is also survived by 15 neices and nephews and 10 great-neices and nephews. Laney loved his family and friends and looked forward to each of their visits. He was preceded in death by his sister, Laurie Johnson; and his nephew, Casey DeLane Moody. Funeral services will be held at the Milford Stake Center on Monday, September 26, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.. Viewings will be held on Sunday, September 25, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, September 26, from 11:00 to 12:30 a.m. both at the church. Interment will be in the Milford Cemetery.
