Miller, Lucille Lucille Bee Green Miller ROY - Bee Miller, passed away Friday, April 1, 2005, at McKay-Dee Hospital, just one week prior to her 91st birthday. She was born April 7, 1914, in Syracuse, Utah, to Carl B. and Pearl Barber Green. On December 4, 1936, Bee married J. Earl Miller in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She has resided in Roy since 1941. Bee was very talented at oil painting. She had a great sense of humor even until the end of her life. She is survived by her husband, Earl; three daughters, Judy (Wil) Moyer, Roy; Pat Saunders, West Haven; Dixie (Bruce) Jarman, Clinton; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Melba Duncan, Medford, Oregon; and a brother, Carl Dern Green, Clinton. Bee was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Van Green, and a son-in-law, R. Lyle Saunders. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Mower, Horace Horace Mower CLINTON - Horace Mower, 80, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in Pleasant Grove, Utah following a year long battle with bladder cancer. He was born July 1, 1924 in Roosevelt, Utah, a son of Jesse Lee and Emily Evelyn Farr Mower. He was the sixth of their seven children. Horace moved to Taylor, Weber County when he was two years old. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in the Taylor/West Weber area. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War obtaining the rank of Electrician's Mate, Second Class. After returning home, he attended Weber State College. He married Wanda Jennie Sharp in June of 1947. They divorced after many years of marriage. He married Venice G. Edmunds in 1993, and they also later divorced. Horace was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in the Roy 2nd and Clinton 15th Wards. He began a career as an electrician at the Naval Depot in Clearfield. He later transferred to Hill A ir Force Base and worked in various positions. He retired in 1979 with 35 years of combined military/civic service. Horace enjoyed water skiing, camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. His homegrown popcorn was relished by family and friends. Surviving are his sons, Bruce K. (JoAnn) Mower, Florence, OR; Monte J (Cynthia) Mower, Pleasant Grove; four grandchildren, Michelle (Shawn) Hunter, Corvallis, OR; Diane Mower, Honolulu, HI; Tara Mower and Branden H. Hansen, both of Sandy, UT; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Kaye F. Mower Morton, Sherwood, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Ruth Mower, LaPrele Hoffman and Francise Mower, and his brothers, Dale Lorin and LeeRoy F. Mower. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton 25th Ward Chapel, 2841 West 1300 North. Nelson, 48, died Friday, March 25, 2005 at his home in Ogden of heart disease. He was born July 12, 1956 in Ogden, a son of Laraine and Vonda Creger Nelson. Dale married Abbie E. Valdez on June 27, 1987 in Washington Terrace. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dale served his country with the United States Navy. He worked for Enable Industries for many years. Dale liked to be active. He enjoyed getting out of the house and walking. Surviving are his wife Abbie, and one son Joshua Ernie Dale Nelson, both of Ogden; one brother and one sister, Gerald (Orma) Bischoff, Marriott; Gwen (Dennis) Thompson, Springfield, VA. He was also loved by his many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Sullivan Hollow 2nd Ward, 33rd Street and Jackson Avenue, with Bishop Murray Meszaros officiating. (Finacom) Van Batenburg, 84, died at Life Care Center of Auburn on March 31, 2005. She leaves four sons, Scott Van Batenburg of Kirkland, Wash., Craig VanBatenburg of Worcester, Ray W. Van Batenburg of Northbridge, and ClayVan Batenburg of Berkley, CA; two daughters, Cynthia Plitnick of Oxford,and Darcy Adshead of Holden, ten grandchildren, Christopher, Tristan,Aneiage, Damian, Adrian, Will, Mike, David, Daniel, and Joshua, two sisters, Rosemary Bouley of Colorado, and Julie Bouley of Oxford, and two great-grandchildren. Born in Worcester, daughter of Edward and Mary Frances (Skinner) Finacom, she was a devoted Mother, graduate of Classical High School, Salter Secretarial School, and became an executive secretary at State Mutual of America. She was married in 1946 to Raymond Van Batenburg, of Ogden Utah, who died in 1971. She worked at Hill Air Force base in Ogden. She volunteered at the Auburn Senior Center for ten years, and al so at St. Joseph's Thrift Shop and St. Vincent Hospital Gift Shop. She was a member of Adams Square Congregational Church, where she sang in the choir. A funeral service will be held at 11 am. Tuesday April 5, 2005 in United Congregational Church 6 Institute Rd. Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 pm. Monday April 4, 2005 in Caswell-King Funeral Home 474 Grove St. Worcester. Ret.FARR WEST - Albert Sidney Willis, 87. Our dear father passed away Thursday, March 31st, 2005 after a short illness. Born February 26, 1918, in McKinney, Texas to James Ernest Willis and Rachel Emily Johnson, one of eight children. He was educated in Texas and joined the USAF, as a private, retiring 20 years later as a Lt. Col. He served in WWII, the Berlin Airlift, and was stationed in Germany, France, and many states in the U.S. He also served in the Korean conflict, and was stationed in Seoul, Korea and Japan. He enjoyed a honorable service career and earned the Bronze Star and many other decorations. He moved his family back to Utah where he started a 42-year career with Volkswagen. He was employed at Cutrubus Motors in Layton, at the time of his death. An avid golfer, he enjoyed playing golf at Riverside Golf Course until 2004. He loved camping, family vacations, yard work, and serving his fellow man. Dad joined the LDS Church in 1963, and was sealed to his sweetheart and family in 1964, in the Logan LDS Temple. He served in all auxiliaries, but loved serving as the first Bishop of the Farr West 4th Ward. Our father was a hard-working, service giving neighbor. He touched many lives, and will be deeply missed. He leaves his eternal wife of 62 years, Belle Willis. His children Johnny and Debi Willis,West Point, Sydney Willis of Farr West, Gene Ann Tanner of Farr West, and Mary and Kent McMillen of Ogden. He leaves 17 wonderful grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren with three more on the way. Also, his sisters Rachel Ray, Faye (Lyle) Brewster of Texas and his brother Jim Willis of California, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Don Michael Willis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at the Farr West Center Ward, 2123 North 2000 West, Farr West, conducted by Bishop Wynn Wright. Viewing will be held Monday, April 4, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
