She was born June 25, 1925, in Hooper, Utah, to Orson and Zina Garner Cottle. On April 26, 1944, Della married Stanley Dahl in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Stan preceded her in death on April 21, 1989. Della was always known for being a hard worker, never stopping until her work was done. She kept an immaculate home and beautiful yard. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in various callings. She was most recently a member of the Roy 2nd Ward. Della had been employed by the Davis County School District and Weber Memorial Care Center as the Director of Volunteers until her retirement. She was very crafty and she loved to decorate her home and make many homemade gifts, such as dolls and afghans, which she loved to share with others and give away. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their sporting events. She loved ce lebrating special occasions with her family. Della is survived by her children, Gene (Sandra) Dahl, Ogden; Colleen (Earl) Gardner, Cheyenne, WY; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sisters, Angie Francom, Norma Bambrough and Gennivee Hancock. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Davis, Leroy James BRIGHAM CITY - Roy James Davis, 83, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 from heart failure. He was born April 10, 1921 in Brigham City, UT the son of Vinson F. and Naomi Faulkner Davis. When LeRoy was only five his mother passed away. Later, his father married Louise Oyler and together they raised him along with other siblings. He married Diane Knudson on January 7, 1948 in Brigham City, UT. LeRoy and Diane were sealed for eternity June 2, 1972 in the Ogden LDS Temple. LeRoy served in the U.S. Army in the China Burma Theater during World War II. He enjoyed farming and retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1986. After retiring, he continued to farm until his health would no longer allow. He is survived by his wife, Diane, one daughter, Julie (David) Reich, Sandy, UT; three brothers, two sisters, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gregory, and two sisters. His family has many good memories of life on the farm with him that they will cherish forever. He will be greatly missed. Green, James David CLEARFIELD - Our cherished Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend, James David Green, was called home to referee that Big Game in the Sky after a courageous battle with cancer on April 8, 2005. Dad was born September 17, 1957 to Curley and Frankie Green in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up and attended schools in the Ogden City area and was a proud Ben Lomond Scot. One of his biggest accomplishments was being awarded High School Basketball Official of the Year. My father was a proud member of the Big Sky Officiating Crew and also a long time employee of Utah Power. He is survived by his only child, daughter, Jenelle and grandson Nautus Knot-Head Semaj Green. Also surviving is step-mother, Doris Green; identical twin John PB Man; brothers Curley Jr., Marc, Jason, Eddie and Scott; sisters Rhonda and Teri; and by his special Aunt, Mayso Fields. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 1 p .m. at the Second Baptist Church, 227 27th Street, Ogden with Reverend Petty officiating. Published in the Standard-Examiner from 4/10/2005 - 4/12/2005. Jackman, Gail N. RIVERDALE - Gail Naomi Jackman, 89, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at her home in Riverdale of causes incident to age. She was born December 22, 1915 in Salem, Idaho, a daughter of George Dewain and Lillie May Smith Peterson. On May 31, 1938, Gail married Perry F. Jackman in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Perry preceded her in death on April 13, 1987. She was raised and educated in Salem, Idaho graduating from the Salem public schools. Following her marriage she lived most of her life in Nephi. She lived the past 15 months with family members in Riverdale. Her granddaughter, Teresa, wants everyone to know what a privilege it was to have Grandma Gail in her home and to be able to care for her. Gail was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings throughout her life and served two missions, one to New York and the other to Oregon. One of her greatest joys in her later life was working in the Manti Temple. She worked at the NRP Rubber Plant in Nephi retiring after 25 years of service. Gail loved to sew and crochet and was a wonderful cook. Her favorite thing to do was to be surrounded by her family. Surviving are one son, Ferron (Valear) Jackman, Chester, UT; one daughter, Lynda Daras, Murphy, NC; 34 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Zola McClain and Gerri Smith, both of Marino Valley, CA. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, one son Dewain, siblings Eugene, Coral, and LaRue, one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Nephi 8th Ward Chapel, 222 South 100 East in Nephi, Utah, with Bishop Sam Memmott officiating. Leonhardt, Fern Elizabeth Providence - Fern Elizabeth Hulse Leonhardt, 87, passed away Monday, April 11, 2005 at her home. Taylor, Darwin Wayne OGDEN - Darwin Wayne Taylor passed away on Friday, April 8, 2005, surrounded by his angel and his loving family, at McKay-Dee Hospital from a subdural hematoma. He was born October 24, 1927 in Preston, Idaho, a son of Ervon Thomas and Alice LaVon Bonnie Cole Taylor. He graduated from Logan High School and LDS Business College with a degree in business. On December 1, 1950 he married Neelyne Corbridge, his angel on earth, in the Logan Temple. Darwin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ogden 67th/Canyon Hollows Ward. He served full time in the Spanish American Mission. He served as Stake missionary, Stake clerk, Ward clerk, Stake finance clerk, devoted home teacher and in the Sunday School presidency. He retired from HAFB as a Digital Computer Programmer Specialist. He loved country music, he liked Weber State basketball, worked hard in his yard, was an avid reader and did genealogical research. He never spoke a bad word about anyone and never met a person he didn't like or befriend. His family was his life and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed walks in the mountains and loved his cowboy boots and hats. His heart was in ranching and farming but heart trouble kept him away from it. He is survived by his wife, Neelyne of Ogden; three daughters and one son, Vickie (Jim) Urry, serving as Mission presidents in the Brazil, Sao Paulo East Mission; Marcia (Stan) Gardiner, Roy; Lori (Tim) Reeder, Farr West; and Kevin (Kim) Taylor, Roy. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with three on the way; one sister, Evona Wells, Idaho City, ID; and one brother, Norman D. (Dorothy) Taylor, Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents, two great-grandchildren and two brothers, LaMar and Lewis Taylor. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thornton, Lila Child Ogden - Lila Child Thornton passed away April 9, 2005 at the age of 80. She was born on October 1, 1924 in Ogden, Utah a daughter of Jane Tracy and Henry Guy Child. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Lila married William Thornton on May 20, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple. She was reared and educated in Ogden. Lila had been a volunteer for the Weber County Nutrition Program. She enjoyed planning and participating in the activities at Union Gardens where she resided before she became ill. Lila enjoyed listening to her (oldies) music and making beautiful ceramics. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her siblings. Many thanks to the staff at the Infinia Health Care Center for the love and kind tender care they extended to Lila.
