Bindrup, Lela Eliza Nye LOGAN - Our blessed 97 year old mother, Lela Eliza Nye Bindrup passed away peacefully on April 11, 2005. She was born on August 13, 1907 in Lehi, Utah, the daughter of Laura Hannah Mary Knudsen Nye Beddo and Ephriam Alfred Nye. She was the eldest of three deceased siblings - Earl Nye, an infant sister, and Cleora Nye Anderson. Her parents also preceded her in death. She married Leland Samuel Bindrup on January 6, in the Logan Latter-day Saint Temple; he passed away in 1989. Leland and Lela were the parents of six children, Inez L. Bindrup (Fredricksburg, Virginia), Col. LaVere W. Bindrup Army - Retired (Patricia Barber), Beverley (W. Scott Hansen), Donna Loy Gossner - Kirby (Gordon; Edwin O. Gossner - deceased), Judy Sozio Hoffineister (Alan; George Sozio-deceased), Jay L. Bindrup. There are 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Much of her life was spent comforting, and assuring us that all would be well if we said our prayers and stayed close to the Lord. In Lela's early years she became a hairdresser, she was in great demand because she could marcel a woman's hair that would stay in for one month. She was a perfectionist in many ways - she kept the mens' hair cut and the girls' in ringlets. As children, our memories of mother were thoughtful ones as she was always busily engaged in taking care of us, our father, and all the neighbors. No one escaped her willingness to do their ironing, tend their children or share the veggies from her beautiful garden. She loved her flowers and could hardly wait each spring for the planting of her most favorite semi-annuals. Her vegetable garden was said to have been one of the most orderly and creative; summers were spent in this garden until she was well into her 90's. Mother was a wonderful seamstress - anyone visiting her was taught to sew or crochet. She completed gorgeous Afghans for each child and grandchild and was working on great-grandchildren when she had her first stroke. She never gave up and tried repeatedly to complete to complete this task. was the best cook in the land - her homemade breads and pies were prepared with skill and would have received first-place in the county fair. Mother loved music and tutored us in our first piano lessons. She loved to read and taught us at an early age the appreciation of reading good books, especially those stories about the Savior, Jesus Christ whom she loved and trusted always. She served in many capacities in her religion - her favorite was Primary President because she was surrounded by children. To this day her Primary children greet her with hugs and sweet tales of yesterday. She loved visiting Relief Society sisters and singing in the ward choir. I've heard it said that she was the "Ward Angel". She stayed in her little white house as long as she was physically able. Her wonderful, caring neighbors were partly responsible for her long life. Whenever shecalled, they were there to care and love her. Alp ine Home Care-Hospice Dr Robert Hyldhal, many nurses and aids at Logan Regional Hospital, Sunshine Terrace personnel are lovingly thanked for their never-ending care of mother. She is now with her Heavenly Father, her husband, mother and father, and all those she never ceased to remember and tell her family about Mother. We will now be telling our children about you. Mother - softly goodby until we meet again. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2005 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St., Logan.
