She was a loving and giving wife, mother, and friend to all who were blessed to know her. She was born September 28, 1957 in Annapolis, Maryland to Emil and Gloria Hill. She was married on June 6, 1995 to her soul mate Andrew Atkinson and resided in Layton, Utah. All through her life she participated and excelled in all her endeavors. She was active in several school clubs and activities. She was a member of the Masons Rainbow Girls organization where she was a Jobs Daughter. She was also one of the first women to graduate from the Operating Engineers Training Course in California. But in her eyes, her greatest accomplishment was to bring five beautiful children into this world. She was preceded in death by her parents Emil and Gloria Hill and her daughter Heather Schachton. She is survived by her children Jayson Cooper, Cahlan Ferrere, Chantel Ferrere, Corey Ferrere, A.J. Atkinson, and Ashley Atkinson, sister LaVernia Hill, and brother Darrell Utter. A gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 16, 2005 from noon to 2:00 pm at the LDS chapel at 505 S 1000 W, Layton, Utah. Carr, Viola Taylor Linford RIVERDALE - Viola Marie Taylor Linford-Carr came into the world on February 25, 1908 the twelfth child of Joseph and Sarah Barker Taylor. Viola lived 97 years. She had resided at Stoney Brooke in Riverdale for three years. She left this world to join her Heavenly Father and her loving family on April 13, 2005. Viola grew up in the north end of Ogden, nestled in a neighborhood of aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Mound Fort Elementary and Jr. High and Ogden High School. After high school she worked in the office of Drs. Dixon and Barber as their assistant. Viola married her sweetheart George Linford on April 14, 1932. Viola and George were high school classmates and they began courting after he returned from an L.D.S. mission. Viola and George had 52 great years together. In 1984 he died following an accident. Viola and George had four children, VaLois, Gerald, Sharol and Jon. She was a stay at home mom until the 2nd World War when she worked at Utah General Depot until after the war. She again entered the work force when in the mid 1950's she was employed by Gramercy School as an aid in the physically handicapped division. Viola was a temple worker in the Ogden Temple for 17 years. She enjoyed her associations there and she thoroughly loved the work. During this time she and George traveled. Viola always had an appreciation for the beauties of the world and she enjoyed having the opportunity to see more of it. Viola took a number of art classes over the years and was an accomplished artist. Many of her paintings hung on the walls of her room at Stoney Brooke. Viola loved visiting with her friends and relatives and her home was always open to them. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and great grandma and she loved each of her family unconditionally, this love was returned in kind. All of her family have fond memories of the excellent Sunday pot roasts, particularly her most delicious gravy. After five years of widowhood and w hen Viola was 82 she began dating Gallard Carr whom she had met in the Temple, they were married shortly thereafter. Gallard passed away in January of 2002. Viola is survived by her children, Gerald W. (Joanne) Linford, Sharol (Cleve) Waddoups, and Jon T. Linford; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings, her husbands George Linford and Gallard Carr and her daughter VaLois. We want to thank the staff at Stoney Brooke for the tender loving care they provided the past three years and to Vista Care Hospice for the wonderful care they have provided the past few months. Christopherson, Tanner Michael LAYTON - Tanner Michael Christopherson, age 1, returned home to his Heavenly Father April 12, 2005, at Primary Children's Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah. Tanner was born April 6, 2004, the son of Michael and Cynthia Christopherson. We are grateful to our Heavenly Father for the privilege and blessing of having Tanner in our lives for 1 year. Tanner's happy disposition and love for life was an example to all he came in contact with. He touched the lives of everyone he knew. Epperson, Leslie Livingston BRIGHAM CITY - Leslie Livingston Epperson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 from natural causes. Leslie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on December 16, 1924, the daughter of ElIa Ivory and Joseph Livingston. She graduated from East High School, and had many fond friends and memories of living in the Salt Lake City area. She lived the majority of her life in Brigham City, Utah, where she raised her family, along with her husband Elbert. Together, they had four children, Sandra, Dwight, Mark and Eric. Her most defining qualities were her never- ending love for family, her work ethic, her sensitive spirit, and her selfless, giving approach toward life. She was a member of the Brigham City Third Ward for the past 30 years, and the Brigham City First Ward prior to that, where she had many supportive friends. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Some of her most enjoyable years in the workplace were spent at Morton Thiokol, where she was a well-known librarian for 13 years. Surviving are her husband, Elbert of Brigham City; Sandra (Ron) Fenske, Gilroy, CA; Dwight (Jillyn) Epperson, Natichitoches, Louisana; Mark Epperson, Boise, ID; Eric (Diana) Epperson, Murray, UT; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. After 72 of marriage, Michael Durfey Ericksen waited only one month to the day since the passing of his wife Marian Leishman before joining her in a much better place. He had a wonderful 97 years and was the ideal example of enduring to the end. He was born June 30, 1907 in Beaver Dam Utah to Michael Cal Ericksen and Ethel Durfey the fifth of 12 children. He was raised on the farm and rode a train to school in Brigham city and graduated from Box Elder High. He went on a mission to Denmark in 1929. He returned and married Marian on September 22, 1933 in a double wedding with Joe and Anna Durfey in the Logan LDS temple. They made their first home in Beaver Dam. He started working for Utah power and light and lived in Idaho and Salt Lake before returning back to the Beaver Dam area. He retired from Utah power and light at Cutler Dam as superintendent. They then made their home in Beaver Dam planting their garden, tending their yard and shoveling snow until finally at age 91 they moved into the Country Pines Retirement Community of Clinton in 1998. He has always been first to give selfless service. He combined this with his love of cars to be the neighborhood's favorite "pay me when you can" mechanic. He was patient and hard working, was a good electrician and above all a great husband, father and grandfather. All who knew him were touched in some way to make their lives better. They were parents to five children: Michael Robert (deceased), Tonia (Pete) Christiansen of Bear Lake, Karen (Lee) of Logan, Chris Ericksen soon to be from Australia, and Corey (Liz) from Layton. They have 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. Of the 12 siblings only one sister, June still lives. Mike has always been active in the LDS church and has held numerous ward positions. He served faithfully for years in the Logan Temple. His favorite hobby was trading cars, his favorite vacation spot was Yellowstone Park and his favorite pe rson was his lifetime companion, his wife. He loved his family being around him. His last few years were physically a lot more difficult and we thank Hospice Alliance and especially Patty and Angie for their devoted and faithful service. We especially thank the family at Country Pines Retirement Community for all the wonderful care and love that they gave him. Myrna, Penny and John, Anna, Shelly, Shane and all the others. He could not have had a better home for his final years. We will miss him. A viewing will be held Sunday April 17 from 6 to 8 pm at Country Pines Retirement Community. Bob was born July 24, 1933 in Boise ID to Phillip J. Graham and Bonnie O. Coggnurn Graham. He was reared and educated in Boise, ID. He was married to Geraldine A. Cotton, February 28, 1951. They later divorced. He married Anna B. Wilson on Sept. 17, 1977. Robert retired from Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic, with 27 years of service in 1990. He served in the US Air Force from March 1951 until Nov. 1959. He is survived by his wife, Anna of Kaysville, UT; two sons, Michael D. Graham of Magna, UT, Carl W. Graham of Kaysville, UT; two daughters, Valerie A. Perkins of UT and April A. Scherer of Denver, CO. and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bud W. Garham and Carl C. Hinkson Jr. and one daughter Paula Illene Graham. William Herman Green, Jr., passed away on April 12, 2005. He was born in Hooper, Utah, 17 February, 1919 to William H. Green and Minnie Irene Parker. He married Naida Mae Nye on 12 January 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was raised in Kanesville, Utah and graduated from Weber County High School, Weber College and Brigham Young University. Attended University of Utah. He served as an LDS missionary from 1940 - 1942 in the Northern States Mission. He taught for two years in the Ogden City Schools. Entered the U.S. Army in 1951 as an LDS Chaplain with assignments in California, Colorado, Texas, Korea, Japan and Germany. Member of the Utah Symphony Orchestra, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Colorado Springs Symphony and the Monterey Bay Symphony Orchestra. He was a supervisor at the Utah Disability Determination Services in Salt Lake City. He served on the Weber Stake High Council, Monterey Bay, California High Council, Branch P resident at Killeen, Texas and Baumholder, Germany and District President of the Servicemen's district in Japan and many other callings. He is survived by his wife, Naida and daughter, Marcia Gunn of Gig Harbor, WA; Bradley H. of Santa Fe, N.M. and Wayne C. of Mountlake Terrace, WA; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother Stanley of Centerville and sister, Luana Richards of Bountiful, Utah. James, Kathleen Lois OGDEN - Kathleen Lois James, 50, passed away peacefully at her home in Ogden on Tuesday April 12, 2005. Kathy was born on February 13, 1955 in Salt Lake City to Floyd E. and LuJean Heslop James. She was raised on her grandparents, Austin and Lottie Heslop's dairy farm in West Weber. She graduated from Weber High School and later from Weber State College with degrees in computer science and radiology technology. In 1976 she married Randy Greer. They later divorced. Later she married John Fox and together they had one son, John Kristopher Fox. They divorced. In 1987 she married Rowlan Armbruster. Rowlan adopted Kris. They divorced in 2001. Kathy worked as a radiology technician at the Brigham City Hospital for several years before obtaining a computer science degree. Her work as a computer programmer took her many places including Dayton, Ohio, and San Mateo, California. She was currently employed at Convergys as a network specialist. She enjoyed learning and upgrad ing her computer skills. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was working towards her goal of going to the temple. She is survived by her son Kris Armbruster, her mother LuJean James, and brother Gordon (Ina) James, all of Ogden; her father Floyd (Joy) James and sister Pamela (Ron) Parker of Roseville, CA; and stepchildren Louis Armbruster and Dorothy Stott. She was very appreciative of the help she received from her Aunt Jo Manning. Messervy, Fontell Hebdon CLEARFIELD - Fontell Clifford Hebdon Messervy, 85, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005 at Rocky Mountain Care Center of causes incident to age. Fontell was born April 3, 1920 in Menan, Idaho, a daughter of Albert Nephi Clifford and Alice Ann Alder. She married Eldon I. Hebdon on January 9, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was killed in 1945 during World War II. They had one son, Randy I. Hebdon. She later married Don Carlos Messervy on March 31, 1948 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had one daughter, Sandra. Don died July 1, 1995. Fontell was raised and educated in Idaho and taught school in the Idaho and Utah education system for several years. She received a B.S. degree from B.Y.U. in Recreational Leadership and Music; a composite M.S. degree in Psychology and Counseling, a graduate degree in the Performing Arts, Theater Production and Management, and earned a professional certificate to become a Master Teacher. While living in Rexburg, she served a s the Assistant Dean of Women at Ricks College, as head of the Dance Department and also director of the Program Bureau. In 1961, her family moved to Brigham City, Utah where she worked at Box Elder High School as the theater teacher. In 1970 and 1971, she was chosen to travel for the International Exchange School to perform with selected students in Greece, Italy, Switzerland, France and England. She and her husband were awarded for their educational work in European Theater. She was listed in the "Who's Who in American Theater" and was thrilled when many of her students received scholarships to colleges and universities around the Western United States. She was the founder of the "Palace Playhouse" in Brigham City, and will be fondly remembered for her 20 years of teaching in that community. Fontell retired form the educational system in 1978 after 39 years of dedicated service to the teaching profession. Fontell loved restoring and costuming dolls from periods as early as the 1920's. She had one of the largest doll collections in the area. Fontell was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and worked as a Temple Worker for many years with Don in the Ogden LDS Temple. Fontell loved her life and people. Her influence was great in the lives of many. An eternal optimist, she was happiest when helping others and always eager to get the job done! She is survived by her son, Randy I. Hebdon (Sharon) of Sunset, Utah; Sandra (Paul) Norris of Sierra Vista, Arizona; her granddaughters Shelly Stiffler (Robert) of Eagle Mountain, Ut; Andra Thorne (Ryan) of Clearfield, Ut; Cynthia Norris of Sierra Vista, Arizona; her grandsons Sean Hebdon of Sunset and Dan Norris (Shannon) of Connorville, Indiana and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan I. Hebdon, her parents, both husbands, four brothers and three sisters. Parks, Alma Seppi OGDEN - Alma Seppi Parks, 93, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005 of natural causes. She was born April 16, 1911 in Leadville, CO, the daughter of Fred Seppi and Mary Maccani Seppi. Alma married Robert L. Parks on November 7, 1936 in Ogden, Utah. Her schooling was in Sunnyside and Ogden, Utah. She was a homemaker until her family was raised and then went to work in retail sales and retired as manager of Books and Records Department at J.C. Penney's in 1976. She was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Her main interest was her family whom she cherished with all her heart. Alma is survived by her daughter, Carol Lee (Maurice) Krug of Sarasota, FL; One brother, Fred L. Seppi, who loved and cared for her the last years of her life; three grandchildren, Todd C. Lane, Stephanie Jean Lewis, and Robert Tracy Parks; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Parks Sr., one son, Robert L. Parks Jr., two sist ers, Stella (Robert) McAuliffe, Erma (Harley) Christofferson. Reid, Blanche Geana Carson EDEN - Blanche Geana Carson Reid, 97, died at a local care center on April 13, 2005, of cause's incident to age. She was born August 26, 1907 in Payson, Utah, the first child of Alvin Carson and Dora Maud Memmott. She married her high school sweetheart, William Eugene Reid, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 30, 1927, and went with him to New York City where he pursued his music education at NYU, and where she studied voice, and ballet under Annette Gottlieb. She had lived in Ogden since 1938, when her husbands teaching career brought him to Weber County High School. She had been a vocal soloist with the Ogden Tabernacle Choir. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, formerly of the Ogden 33rd and 47th wards. She had been a teacher in Relief Society, and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She is survived by one daughter, Connie Huggins of Eden; eight grandchildren; Wendy (James) Howard of Washington Terrace; Gaye Hogge and Rebecca (Kimbal) Hale of Eden; Reid (Marlo) Hess of Riverton, UT; Deborah (Edward) Hess Caine and Michael (Peggy) Hess of Phoenix, AZ; John Earl (Marla) Hess of Victorville, CA; Michelle Hess Nelson of Coalville, UT; 24 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one half-sister, Lorna (Eldredge) Searle Carter of Springville, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, LaJean Reid Hess and Lynnette Reid; two brothers, Lee and Ralph (Buss) Carson, and one sister, Mabel Carson Vest. He was born June 26, 1922 in Ogden to James A. and Clara Virtue Orton Spackman. He married Iris Stephens on March 1, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1994. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945. John was a member of the No. Ogden 11th Ward. He was active as Executive Secretary, YMMIA, Athletic Director for Ogden Region and Utah North area, High Priest, Home Teacher, and Temple worker in the Ogden Temple. He had been a member of the North Ogden 1st Ward and Fruitland Ward. He was a member of the Cherry Days Committee and organized the softball tournaments. He was a professional referee for 35 years. He may have thrown you or one of your friends or relatives out of one of the local ballparks or gyms and then seated you at one of Weber State's ballgames. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Bruce (Frances) Spackman, No. Ogden; Ted (Debbie) Spackman, So. Taylor, Kent Leroy BRIGHAM CITY - Kent LeRoy Taylor, 44, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005 after a long struggle with brain cancer. A very kind husband, father, and servant to all. He was born in Salt Lake City on September 26, 1960 a son of Lila C. and David S. Taylor. Kent married Traci Craner from Corinne, UT in the Logan LDS Temple, on February 14, 1986. Kent was honored by the Utah State Dept. of Health as the Paramedic of the year, in 2004. He was a paramedic/firefighter and owned the Keyhole Lock business in Brigham City. At the time of his medical retirement Kent was a member of the Ogden Fire Department. He had previously worked with the Thiokol, Garland and Weber District Departments. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas Mission and enjoyed his years of church service with the scouts and elders. He had a great love for mankind, animals, the outdoors and sports. Many thanks for the wonderful brotherhood of paramedics and firefighters. These good people gave many hours of time and means to Kent and his family. We can't say enough about these public servants. We also express our love and appreciation to the many neighbors who helped the Taylor family through the difficult times. Thanks to Dr. Lish, Dr. Blumenthal and Nurse Diedra, and the kind staff at the Huntsman Cancer Center and the University Hospital, Micki Olsen and Sherie Carter of Hospice. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Traci, and six children; Austin, Cassi Jo, Ashlee, Morgan, Zachary and Colton, his parents, and six brothers and sisters; Jeanette (Paul) Throndsen, David Jr. (Paula), Ann (Mark) Bowen, Carolyn (Spencer) Christensen, Laura (Diego) Alvarez, and Ronald (Alex). Traci's parents, LeRoy and Connie Craner gave countless hours of care to the Taylor family. Friends may call on Sunday, April 17, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, and on Monday from 10 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church. Fu neral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 14th Ward Chapel, approximately 950 E. 650 N. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
