He was born September 23, 1936 in Santa Fe, NM. Johnny married Viola Vigil January 19, 1957. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Viola Armigo; three daughters, Debi Armigo, Kari Wood Fox and Shelly Gormley; two son-in-laws, Frankie Huerta and Scot Wood; one and only granddaughter, Krista Huerta; two grandsons, Ryan John Huerta and Daleson John Gormley; two great-granddaughters, Alexxis Castillo and Sarraya Lobato. Johnny was known for being one of the best salesmen. He was #1, and the best of the best. He spoiled and loved his family dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Teofila Duran; stepfather, Leo Duran; a sister, Teresa Cofield and son-in-law, Dale Gormley. Bailey, Thomas Osborne Thomas Osborne Bailey CORINNE - Thomas Osborne Bailey, 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at his home in Corinne. He was born on April 9, 1927 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of Pope and Lue Ella Merchant Bailey. Tom married Renee Nelson on December 21, 1959 in Wyoming. She preceded him in death on September 27, 2003. He served in the U.S. Army retiring in 1969. Tom then worked for Thiokol and retired in January 1992. He liked to go camping, fishing, reading books and playing sugar loft machines. Surviving are five sons and two daughters, James Bailey, Willard; Howard (Nina) Bailey, Atlanta, GA; John Bailey, Thomas J. Bailey and Ron Dee Bailey all of Corinne, Barbara Jean Bailey and Caleen Bailey both of Tennessee; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Blood, Katherine Spanos Katherine Blood OGDEN - Katherine Spanos Blood, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and child of God, passed from this mortal existence April 19, 2005, surrounded by her loved ones. Kathy was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who devoted her life to bringing light to those around her. She was born in Park City, Utah on April 13, 1938. A gentle and loving soul, she is survived by her children Jacob Blood and wife Cynthia; Kristine Wilkerson and husband Mark; Ross Blood; and Thad Blood and wife Dyana. She is also survived by her siblings Mike Spanos and wife Fern, Joann Sweatfield and husband Kenny, Mary Arnold and husband Kay, Tony Spanos and wife Ruth, and Jerry Spanos and wife Kim. She was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother and had many loving nephews and nieces. Kathy's extraordinary bravery and courage in her yearlong battle with illness is a testament to her faith. Her boisterous laughter and zeal for life inspired all who knew her. BrownHYDE PARK, Utah - DeAlton Thomas Brown, 88, passed away on April 20, 2005 in Logan, Utah. He was born January 6, 1917 of goodly parents, Ira and Emma Lyman Brown. De married Elsie Seamons in the Logan Temple on August 4, 1938. They shared 62 happy years together until Elsie passed away on May 23, 2000. Throughout his life De exemplified the value of hard work and had worked various jobs, but his life's main vocation began in 1949 when he and Elsie began their own mink ranch in Hyde Park. De was an excellent and successful rancher and took great pride in his work, winning several prestigious awards during his career. After 37 years De retired in 1985. Surviving De are his two sons, Russell (Betty) of Ripley, West Virginia, and Carlton (Yasuko) of Hyde Park; and one daughter, Deanna (Stan) of Ogden; his ten grandchildren and three great- grandchildren; two brothers, Marriner (La Verle) and Frances (Loa); and two sisters, Lois (Max Hess) and Edith (Vernon Christensen). De w as preceded in death by his cherished companion, Elsie; his parents; brother, Edward, and sister, Clarice. He was born September 29, 1933 in Downey, Idaho, a son of Clarence Arthur and Violet Dean Davis. On September 27, 1952, Val married Dolores Tidwell in Ogden. He was a lifelong resident of Ogden. Val was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Val retired from Hill Air Force Base as a supervisor in Air Force Logistics Command. He enjoyed golfing and coffee with friends. Surviving are his wife of Ogden; one son and two daughters, Robert Davis, Angela (Patrick) Tehero and Janette Davis, all of Ogden; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and one brother. Hansen, Jr. SALT LAKE CITY - Bertle Daniel Hansen, Jr., a powerhouse of a man, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 in Ogden. Bert was born July 15, 1922 in Park City, Utah, a son of Bertle D. Sr. and Ida Catherine Sultzer Hansen. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Carter, on March 16, 1940. Helen preceded him in death on April 1, 1976. Surviving are his children: Bertle III (Susan), of California; Jeffrey (Pat), of New Mexico; Pamela Clemens, California; Roger (Billie) of North Carolina; Kevin of Arizona; Christine (Bill) Ashworth, of Utah; Lee (Jude) of Utah; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, one infant son, one brother Russell and two sisters Adele and Doris. Leigh, Leonard Ray 1969 - 2005 Leonard Ray (Lenny) Leigh CLINTON - Leonard Ray (Lenny) Leigh, 35, cherished father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, climbed out of his wheelchair, into his truck, and with a smile on his face, drove off into the horizon, crossing the finish line of life on April 18, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, never complaining about his lot in life. Lenny was born September 7, 1969, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Merlin Ray and Lorna Sue Duffin Stoddard. When Lenny was six, his mother married LeGrand B. Leigh. One year later, Lenny was adopted. He grew up in Plain City, and graduated from Weber High School in 1987. Lenny was a very loving person, who would do anything for his family and friends. His friends were his life and he loved spending time with them. He enjoyed bike racing, the sand dunes, working on cars, and painting. He was a talented artist, who specialized in fine airbrush work. He is survived by his daughter, Shalane Holm, his parents LeGrand and Lorna Leigh of Clinto n, his grandparents, Ray and Edith Stoddard of Idaho Falls, six brothers and sisters, Rick (Marj) Leigh, Craig (Marie) Leigh, Melanie (Trent) McDonald, Daniel (Mandy) Leigh, Kara Bosgieter, and Amber (Jacob) Olney, and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Ermine Duffin. Lenny requested that no formal service be conducted. A private family memorial was held on April 18th. There will be a memory exchange at 2 p.m. on April 23, 2005, at Sandridge Park, 2100 W. 4400 S. Roy, Utah. Mattson, Kyle Logan Kyle Logan Mattson PLEASANT VIEW - On April 19, 2005, Kyle Logan Mattson, 54, beloved husband, father and son, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Kyle was born October 13, 1950 to Logan C. and Carol Teuscher Mattson. He was raised and educated in Utah. On October 13, 1978 he married Leisa Harris of Logan, Utah in the Ogden LDS Temple. Kyle received his undergraduate degree from Weber State University, masters degrees from Syracuse University and Utah State University, and doctorate from the University of Kentucky. He taught finance in the College of Business at the University of Wisconsin and at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and returned to his beloved Weber State University as a faculty member in 1996. Kyle was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of the Pleasant View 10th Ward. He served in the France-Belgium mission and various organizations in the church including scouting, and several years as prop m aster for the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra, New York. Kyle is survived by Leisa, his wife of 27 years; their children, Blaire of Dallas, Texas, and Devin Kyle, currently serving an LDS mission in Norway; parents and brother Rand (Cynthia). He was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Harris Mattson. Morris, Atha May Carter Freeman Atha May Carter Freeman Morris SOUTH OGDEN - Atha passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 following a short battle with breast cancer. She was born May 21, 1923, in Brigham City, a daughter of Simeon Frederick and Edna Melissa Wright Carter. The family moved to Perry, Utah when she was five years old. She attended Perry Elementary School, Box Elder Jr. High and High School. She continued her education at Ogden Business College and later at Weber State University. Atha married her high school sweetheart, Alf Donald Freeman, on September 29, 1944 in Amarillo, Texas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Don passed away April 21, 1984. She married Steve R. Morris, of Syracuse, on June 26, 1987. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed many callings, especially those where she was called to teach. She recently completed requirements to graduate from the LDS Institute of Religion at Weber State University. Atha worked for the Stat e of Utah Marriage Counseling Service, Mountain Fuel Supply Company, Thiokol Rocket Operation Center and Weber State University. While at Weber State University, she was Executive Secretary for Presidents William P. Miller and Joseph L. Bishop. She retired from the university in June of 1987. Surviving are her husband Steve, South Ogden; three children, Robert D. (Fern), Freeman, West Point; Richard C. Freeman, Washington Terrace; Ann (Steve) Stokes, South Weber; stepson, D oug (Jackie) Morris, Mesa, AZ; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Shirl F. (Wilma) Carter, Mission Viejo, CA; sister-in-law Ida Kimber Carter, Westminster, CA; brother-in-law Marlow D. Thorne, Urbana, IL; and stepmother-in-law, Kallona Freeman, Brigham City. Walker, Gladys W. Gladys W. Walker ROY - Gladys Wright Barton Walker, 93, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at a Heritage Park Care Center of causes incident to age. She was born Dec. 15, 1911, in Lindon, Utah, a daughter of Albert Henry and Annie Melissa Harper Wright. She married Howard S. Barton on June 2, 1936, in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He died on Aug. 17, 1965. She then married Rulon Walker in 1966 in Ogden. He died April 20, 1983. She graduated from Utah State University and taught elementary school, 3rd Grade, for 29 years in the Weber County Schools, teaching at Wilson, Pioneer, and Lake View Schools. Gladys was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, Country Meadows Ward. She had served in Young Women MIA, Relief Society teacher; Sunday School teacher, and was a visiting teacher for many years. She was a member of the of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She had lived in Lindon, Wilson, S outh Ogden and Roy, Utah. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Gladys was loved and will be greatly missed. Surviving are one son and one daughter, H. Spencer (Joye) Barton, Tremonton and Ruth (Ronald) Rees, Roy; one stepson and two stepdaughters, Mark E. Webb, Amy Gibby Amy Gibby Webb WEST POINT - Our beloved Amy Gibby Webb returned to her Father in Heaven Thursday, April 21, 2005. She was born February 27, 1969 in Logan, Utah to David and Ingelise Gibby, the third of eight children. She graduated from Bonneville High School and then attended Ricks College. Amy had an unusually close relationship with her sisters and brothers. Her soft-spoken nature created an atmosphere of peace and harmony. They thoroughly enjoyed their associations, and most of all loved singing together. Amy married her sweetheart Lance J. Webb for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple March 15, 1989. They were unified and devoted to each other. They made their home in West Point, Utah, surrounded and supported by wonderful friends. She is the mother of six beautiful children who learned each day by her example, and will forever be blessed by her teachings. She gave her children the gift of music and a deep love of the gospel. Her children were well rewarded by her ad venturous spirit and desire to make everything fun. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many capacities. At the time of her death she was the Primary President in her ward and will be missed by the sweet children she lovingly served. Amy is one of the noble and great ones, her faith and courage were the driving forces in her life. She exemplified the pure love of Christ and has tied our family eternally together through her work in family history.
