She was born Dec. 31, 1943 to James W. and Marie Helen Larsen Redford. Helen married Jerry Judkins; they later divorced. She married James Johnson and later was sealed in the Oakland Temple. They were later divorced. She married Ben Arementa, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Helen had many talents and was a gifted artist. She loved her family so much; they were her life. She was blessed with five children, LeRoy (Deanna) Johnson, Matthew (deceased), Shane Johnson, Christopher Johnson, all of Willows, CA; Michele Sipes of St. George, UT; five grandchildren, Tabitha, Zachary, Mathew, Brendan, Jaydain. Helen is survived by ten brothers and sisters, Gene (Janet) Keene, James (Lillian) Redford, Neil (Sarah) Redford, Laree (Don) Clark, Ruth (Gene) Dalpez, Fl orence (Bob) Koster, Ina (Gary) Marcus, Julie (Grant) Young, Sharol (Calvin) Pack and Linda Schade. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Matthew and several nephews and nieces. In memory of Helen's life friends and family can pay their respects to Helen Monday, April 25, 2005 at the church in Willows, CA. A tribute to Helen's life will be on August 6th, at the Redford Family Reunion, Crystal Springs, Honeyville, UT. Special thanks to LeRoy, Deanna and Chris for taking care of their mother. Broadbent, Belva Belva Wilson Broadbent Our beloved mother and grandmother, Belva Wilson Broadbent, 93, passed away peacefully following a lingering illness in Layton, Utah on April 21, 2005. Belva was born on August 31, 1911 in Midway, Utah to James Brigham and Lota Eliza Huffaker Wilson. She married Dee A. Broadbent, December 21, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in 1996. She graduated from Wasatch High School and earned a Normal Certificate in Education from Brigham Young University. Belva and her two daughters graduated at the same time from Utah State University in 1958. She enjoyed her associations at the University as she supported her husband in his many positions at USU. Belva's greatest loves were her husband and family. Dee and Belva raised their family in Logan, Utah where they resided for over 60 years. She had a strong faith in the gospel and a real zest for life. She gave many years of service to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband served two mission s in San Diego, California and Atlanta, Georgia. She enjoyed art, writing, drama, and particularly creating children's books for her family. She enjoyed sharing her home and cooking for friends and family. Her final five years were spent at Apple Village Assisted Living Center in Layton, UT where she provided a great deal of service to her fellow residents. She truly demonstrated how to endure to the end and make life pleasant in the process We send a special thank you to Hospice Alliance for their loving care. She is survived by her children: Vay (Clive) Walker, Temple, TX; Allene (Ramon) Stucki, Pocatello, ID; David J (Kaye) Broadbent, Smithfield, UT; Curtis (Marilyn) Broadbent, Logan, UT; and Kent (Margaret) Broadbent, Layton, UT. She has 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters: Blanche Pryor, Sandy, UT; Margaret (Jack) Turner, Midvale, UT; and brothers: Emer Wilson, Midway, UT; Vern (Kathleen) Wilson, Payson, UT and Brice (Carolyn) Wilson, Mesquite, NV. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Grant Thomas Broadbent, and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Forest 2nd Ward, 2250 East 2300 North, Layton. Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan, UT and Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS Church. Christensen, Joyce Maxine Joyce Maxine Christensen LAYTON - Joyce Maxine Christensen, 65, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Davis Hospital. She was born August 5, 1938 in Gunnison, Utah the daughter of ODean and Isabell Nester Caldwell. Joyce attended Murray High School and graduated from Weber State University with a BS Degree in Gerontology and Anthropology and a minor in Sociology. She worked at Hill Air Force Base. She married Dale E. Christensen on January 17, 1955 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1970. Joyce was an active faithful member of the LDS Church and was sealed in the Bountiful Temple in August of 2000 to her loving companion Dale Christensen. She loved to crochet, read and ride motorcycles. Surviving are her son, Dennis (Pam) Christensen, Philipi, WV; two daughters, Debra (Kevan) Clearfield; Stephanie, Layton; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, siblings, Pat Hakala, Sandy; Leland Hawker, Henderson, NV; Vicky Olivas, Albuquerque, NM; Wilma Vinton , Fairbanks, Alaska; and Sherry Alexander, Salt Lake City. She was also survived by two very special friends Woody Whitlock and Greg Nolan. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Larry Peterson and Kelly Caldwell. Goehring, Mary Michele Needham Mary Michele Needham GoehringOGDEN - Mary Michele Needham Goehring, 52, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005 at her mothers home surrounded by her family of a valiant fight against cancer. Michele was born March 15, 1953 in Ogden, UT to Jess and Edna (Shupe) Needham. On August 18, 2000 she married Dean Goehring. She was employed as a seamstress for Coleman's. She loved doing crafts for her family. All of her nieces and nephews were her children. She loved being with her family and having our yearly Christmas party and family reunions. Michele is survived by her mother, Edna; her husband, Dean; four sisters, Janie (Dave) Watson, LaRae (David) Kite, Cheron (Rick) Martinez and Gae Davenport (Ron Tesch); four brothers, Bill (Lois) Needham, Duke (Billie) Needham, Bud Needham and Ed (Tamra) Needham; 20 nieces and nephews, 35 great nieces and nephews and five great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Jess G. Needham Jr. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Roy City Cemetery. Leigh, Leonard Ray 1969 - 2005 Leonard Ray (Lenny) Leigh CLINTON - Leonard Ray (Lenny) Leigh, 35, cherished father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, climbed out of his wheelchair, into his truck, and with a smile on his face, drove off into the horizon, crossing the finish line of life on April 18, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, never complaining about his lot in life. Lenny was born September 7, 1969, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Merlin Ray and Lorna Sue Duffin Stoddard. When Lenny was six, his mother married LeGrand B. Leigh. One year later, Lenny was adopted. He grew up in Plain City, and graduated from Weber High School in 1987. Lenny was a very loving person, who would do anything for his family and friends. His friends were his life and he loved spending time with them. He enjoyed bike racing, the sand dunes, working on cars, and painting. He was a talented artist, who specialized in fine airbrush work. He is survived by his daughter, Shalane Holm, his parents LeGrand and Lorna Leigh of Clinto n, his grandparents, Ray and Edith Stoddard of Idaho Falls, six brothers and sisters, Rick (Marj) Leigh, Craig (Marie) Leigh, Melanie (Trent) McDonald, Daniel (Mandy) Leigh, Kara Bosgieter, and Amber (Jacob) Olney, and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Ermine Duffin. Lenny requested that no formal service be conducted. A private family memorial was held on April 18th. There will be a memory exchange at 2 p.m. on April 23, 2005, at Sandridge Park, 2100 W. 4400 S. Roy, Utah. Friends and family are invited to gather and share experiences in honor of the life Lenny lived. Stories of Lenny's life will be welcomed and greatly appreciated. Casual dress is requested. Since one of Lenny's greatest desires was to set a new speed record in his truck, his ashes will be scattered over the Bonneville Salt Flats, at a date yet to be determined. Minardi, Dorothy Ruth Stone Dorothy Ruth Stone MinardiROY - Dorothy Ruth Stone Minardi died peacefully at her home with loving family members by her side early Thursday morning, April 21, 2005. She left us with the same dignity and grace that she lived each day. Ruth was born May 27, 1923 in Ogden, Utah the fourth of six children, to Seth Joseph Bottomley and Sylvia Marie Jensen Stone. Her entire childhood was spent in Ogden where she attended Ogden City schools, graduating in 1942 from Ogden High. After working briefly in California and Ogden, Ruth married the love of her life and soulmate, Eugene S. Minardi, on June 9, 1948. Together they created a home for their children filled with unconditional love, laughter, optimism, care and support. On June 9, 1970 Ruth and Gene solemnized their marriage in the Logan LDS Temple. As a devoted member of the LDS Church she served faithfully in various capacities throughout her life. Before she became ill, a favorite outing for her was to attend the temple with her husband. After her kids went to school, Ruth worked many years, first with Weber County School District, then ZCMI, and finally Sears, retiring in 1983. Her hobbies included traveling, reading novels, painting, ceramics, and playing Gin Rummy with anyone who dared to play her. But to Ruth, nothing was more important to her than family. She loved family vacations, family reunions, family holiday parties, and family barbeques on the back patio surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an elegant, hospitable, wise and charitable mother and friend that will always be loved, remembered and forever missed. Ruth is survived by her two sisters, Mildred Stone, Layton and Alice (Eugene) Mallory, North Ogden; her devoted husband, Eugene, Roy; three children, Debra (Curtis) Campbell, Ogden; Gary (Pam) Minardi, Roy; Blake (JoAnn) Minardi, Ogden; and a stepson, Paul (Mary) Minardi, West Jordan; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Collette, Shannon, Ashley, Shanae, Brian, Michael and Aa ron; seven step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Iris Miller and Josephine Rawson, and a brother, Donald Stone. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. John Friden and the staff at Legacy Hospice for the wonderful love and care they gave mom during her time of need.
