He was born October 9, 1919, in Paris, Idaho, a son of Mark Austin and Gertrude Granshaw Austin. He graduated from East High in 1937 and attended LDS Business College. On December 24, 1941, Roy married Phyllis Jacob. The marriage was solemnized June 26, 1958, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and served as a home teacher and in the scouting program. Roy served in the Army Air Corps in the U.S. and Asian Pacific during World War II. In 1950, he began work for the Basin Land and Livestock, where he became manager, secretary and part owner. In 1973, he became President of Basin Land Development Company and developed Causey Estates in Huntsville, Utah. He served as a director of the Utah Wool Growers Association and on the board of directors for the Golden Spike Livestock Show. He was an active mem ber of the Weber County Trails Committee, a racing member of the American Power Boat Association and a member of the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association, flying small aircraft for 35 years. He helped organize the Ogden Boat Club in 1967. He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, skating, boating, swimming, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, flying, photography and traveling. Roy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis; three children, Roy A. (Marlene) Austin, Westford, MA; Phillip I. Austin, Virginia Beach, VA; Cheryl Howe, Roy; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His brother, Laurence Rollo Austin, preceded him in death. She was born November 30, 1938, in Ogden, Utah, to Jesse and Hanna Stalling Rose. On December 12, 1958, Patricia married Allan Carlyle "Whitey" Berry, in Elko, Nevada. She was raised and educated in Ogden, where she has lived her entire life. Patricia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the Ladies Home Builders, Riverdale Ladies Club, Little League Booster Club and President of Riverdale Jayceett's. She had been employed JC Penney, Hill's Furniture and Sam's Club. Her favorite pastime was shopping with her daughter. Patricia is survived by her husband, Allan; her children, A. Todd (Lenore) Berry, Ogden; Ryan (Pamela) Berry, West Weber; Matthew Berry, Ogden; and Michael Berry, Salt Lake City; Marcie (Tod) Bell, Roy; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy (Clyde) Smith, Ogden. Brown, Genevieve Bond Genevieve Bond Brown OGDEN - Genevieve Bond Brown, 85, compassionate servant, passed away peacefully in Roseville, Minnesota, on April 14th 2005. She was born March 26, 1920 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho to Fred and Clara Bond. "Gen" graduated from High School and soon married Lee Daniels Brown on December 13th, 1930, for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Her favorite place on earth was in Pine Mountain Lake, California. There, she and Lee built their dream home, where they spent many long and happy years together. Gen loved to do many things from gardening to traveling, although her favorite pastime was dancing with Lee. Over her 85 years of life, Genevieve committed countless random acts of kindness from picking up trash during her morning walks, to volunteer teacher's aid at a local kindergarten and visiting and chauffeuring her senior friends to their doctor's appointments. Gen deeply loved her church, where she spent many years serving in Primary and Relief Socie ty and many other compassionate service roles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Clara Bond, three brothers Fred, Howard and Paul, her sister Violet, her son Mickey and her husband Lee. She is survived by her three sisters Florence, Margret, and June, brother James, her sons Dan and Steve, daughter Jill, nine grand children, and two great-grandchildren - all whom she loved deeply. She was born August 5, 1938 in Gunnison, Utah the daughter of ODean and Isabell Nester Caldwell. Joyce attended Murray High School and graduated from Weber State University with a BS Degree in Gerontology and Anthropology and a minor in Sociology. She worked at Hill Air Force Base. She married Dale E. Christensen on January 17, 1955 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1970. Joyce was an active faithful member of the LDS Church and was sealed in the Bountiful Temple in August of 2000 to her loving companion Dale Christensen. She loved to crochet, read and ride motorcycles. Surviving are her son, Dennis (Pam) Christensen, Philipi, WV; two daughters, Debra (Kevan) Clearfield; Stephanie, Layton; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, siblings, Pat Hakala, Sandy; Leland Hawker, Henderson, NV; Vicky Olivas, Albuquerque, NM; Wilma Vinton , Fairbanks, Alaska; and Sherry Alexander, Salt Lake City. Cline, Remo Sterling Remo Sterling "Bud" Cline 1927 - 2005 BOUNTIFUL - Remo Sterling "Bud" Cline, born July 20, 1927 to Remo Sterling Sr. and Bessie Pearson Cline, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 21, 2005 with his loving family by his side. Born and raised in Draper, Utah, he frequently spoke of the wonderful rural atmosphere, one which he loved having shared many stories about growing up there with his brothers and sisters. Sterling married Carole Deane Sylvester on May 4, 1946. On August 18, 1946 they were sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were blessed with three daughters. Carole passed away at a young age leaving her young family. Dad later married his wife of 42 years, Kathleen St. Jeor on November 2, 1961. That marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Dad was a kind and compassionate man blessed with an endless dose of genuine optimism. He supported his family as a contractor and was quick to offer a job to most anyone in need. He gave his love equally to each family member and no one ever felt slighted. That love extended to friends, neighbors, co-workers and all others who were fortunate enough to have known him. Dad spent countless hours with his grandchildren and was loved and adored by all of them. He had a wonderful way about him and would eagerly help anyone in need. Dad was a friend to all and all were his friends. He truly was a man without guile. He served in many callings in his Bountiful Val Verda ward serving faithfully to the end. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and freely shared it with all. He leaves behind four daughters, Elaine Mills (Alan), Diane Beasley, Sheri Graham (Terry), Jill Hemsley; along with three sons, Jeff Springer (Vickie), Dan Springer (Mary), Brett Cline (Kattia); two brothers and three sisters. Grandpa was blessed with 27 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Remo and Bessie Cline; his beloved first wife, Carole Deane Sylvester Cline; and recently by his second wife, Kathleen Wilkinson Cline. He was a much beloved letter carrier for the U.S Postal Service in California for 37 years. He later moved to Roy, Utah and worked part time for the city. He could always be counted on for a joke or to lighten the day. He was a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church. He married Charlene, the love of his life on May 24, 1987. He was a wonderful husband, care taker and best friend. Minardi, Dorothy Ruth Stone Dorothy Ruth Stone Minardi ROY - Dorothy Ruth Stone Minardi died peacefully at her home with loving family members by her side early Thursday morning, April 21, 2005. She left us with the same dignity and grace that she lived each day. Ruth was born May 27, 1923 in Ogden, Utah the fourth of six children, to Seth Joseph Bottomley and Sylvia Marie Jensen Stone. Her entire childhood was spent in Ogden where she attended Ogden City schools, graduating in 1942 from Ogden High. After working briefly in California and Ogden, Ruth married the love of her life and soulmate, Eugene S. Minardi, on June 9, 1948. Together they created a home for their children filled with unconditional love, laughter, optimism, care and support. On June 9, 1970 Ruth and Gene solemnized their marriage in the Logan LDS Temple. As a devoted member of the LDS Church she served faithfully in various capacities throughout her life. Before she became ill, a favorite outing for her was to attend the temple with her husband. After her kids went to school, Ruth worked many years, first with Weber County School District, then ZCMI, and finally Sears, retiring in 1983. Her hobbies included traveling, reading novels, painting, ceramics, and playing Gin Rummy with anyone who dared to play her. But to Ruth, nothing was more important to her than family. She loved family vacations, family reunions, family holiday parties, and family barbeques on the back patio surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an elegant, hospitable, wise and charitable mother and friend that will always be loved, remembered and forever missed. Ruth is survived by her two sisters, Mildred Stone, Layton and Alice (Eugene) Mallory, North Ogden; her devoted husband, Eugene, Roy; three children, Debra (Curtis) Campbell, Ogden; Gary (Pam) Minardi, Roy; Blake (JoAnn) Minardi, Ogden; and a stepson, Paul (Mary) Minardi, West Jordan; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Collette, Shannon, Ashley, Shanae, Brian, Michael and Aa ron; seven step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. Natalie graduated from Davis High School and then graduated from Travel School and Davis Area Vocational Center. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant. Natalie was a faithful member of the LDS Church Kaysville 5th Ward and recently the Hobbs Creek Ward in Layton. She loved the Lord and especially her family. She had a quiet, loving personality. Natalie is remembered for her years of service to her mother Kay, prior to her death in 1999. Among her greatest joys in life were her brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vicki was born on October 18, 1934 to Fredrick and Ethel P. Julian in Sage, Wyoming. She graduated from Cokeville High School where she was active in FHA, Glee Club, and Basketball. She married Vern Garland Noland in 1953 in Cokeville, Wyoming. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Vicki was a full-time homemaker and devoted her life to being a wife and mother. She moved with her husband and family several times before they settled in Morgan in 1974, She has been active with the 4-H program, and has especially enjoyed her work in the reading program for the past twelve years at Morgan Elementary. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in various church positions throughout her life. She is survived by her children: Brian Vern (Lisa) Nola nd, Colorado Springs, CO; Michele Kim (Bruce) Coleman, Pleasant View, UT; Gregory Allan (Diana) Noland, Morgan, UT; Jeffrey Jon (Jennifer) Noland, Ogden, UT; Susan (Gary) Weitzeil, Morgan, UT; Benjamin David (Heather) Noland, Salt Lake City, UT. She has 22 grandchildren, 2 1/2 great-grandchildren, and five step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one son-in-law. He was born December 17, 1924, in Cullman, Alabama, to Albert Marx Payne and Sallie Viana Denson Payne. On June 12, 1947, William married Edna Newey, in Ogden, Utah. He was raised and educated in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School. He has also lived in Hooper, Fresno, California, and Roy. During World War II he served as a Seabee and returned home to his life's work of construction. He was a member of the Operating Engineer's Union Local # 3. William was a long time member and Elder of The First Christian Church of Ogden, which he joined in 1934. He was the chairman of the board six times. He was always surrounded by his loving family and enjoyed camping, working in his yard, playing with his dog, and was an avid sports fan. William is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Edna; two daughters, Penny (Paul) Burnett, Layton; Susan (Lowell) Hadley, Bountiful; one son, Claude (Cathy) Payne, Ogden; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Anderson, Taylor; and a brother, Junior A. Steed, Larry Duane Larry Duane Steed, 71, passed away at his home in Ridge Crest, California on April 14, 2005. He was born in Ogden on February 8, 1934 to Raphael and Maybelle Steed. He attended Ogden City Schools. He worked in Ogden at Carpenter Paper, Defense Depot, and then went into the printing business with his father-in-law at Printing Service, Inc. He married Carol Van Drimmelen November 20, 1953. They were later divorced. In 1969 he moved his family to California, where he continued working in the printing industry. Larry is survived by his children, Larry Scott (Cheri), Ricky Lynn (Peggy), Randy Lee (Donna) and Diane; his grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley and Shelley; his brother, Marvin (Shirley) and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his long time girlfriend, Debbie Cook, who was by his side at the time of his death. Larry was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister, Darlene Harbertson Arrington. He requested to be cremated and his remains buried in Ogd en with his mother. She was born February 26, 1942, in Richfield, Utah, to Dewey and Crystal Jorgensen Sampson. She married Roy Dale Strawn, in Waipahu, Hawaii, on August 31, 1971. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1986. She is survived by her children, Rodney Dale (Cindy) Strawn, Altamont; Robert Henry (Ericka) Strawn, Washinton; Mary Ellen Strawn, Spanish Fork; Crystal Louise Strawn (Jared Adam) Walter, Orem; and Lyle Dewey Strawn, Richfield; grandchildren, Calista Strawn, Dale Strawn, Melissa Strawn and Randy Strawn, all of Altamont; sisters, Nola Lou (Lerue) Winget, St. George; and Carol(David) Hansen, Ely, NV; brothers, Richard (Betty) Sampson, Salt Lake City; Jay Ballard (Dalene) Sampson, serving a mission in Nigeria; David (Jane) Sampson, Richfield; John (Barbara) Sampson, Ogden; and Craig (Marla) Sampson , Payson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; parents; brothers, Joe and Donald; and sister-in-law, Louise Bryan. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, Richfield. Zufelt, 60, died Monday, April 18, 2005. He was born December 8, 1944 in Ogden, a son of Dick and Ruth Parker Hanson Zufelt. As a young boy, Todd moved into the Utah State Developmental Center until 1991 at which time he moved to Kaysville, and then lived in Roy and Clearfield. Todd loved to look out the window and look at magazines. He loved to tease people and enjoyed being around people of all ages. He liked art and sitting outside on the porch. Surviving are his uncle, Gerald Hanson, Bountiful; sisters, Anne Green, Alabama; Gwen McMahon, California; brothers, Kurt Zufelt and Brad Zufelt, both of California.
