She was surrounded in love by all her children, grandchildren, friends and family. Janice was born September 22, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lyman Edgar Becker and Hilda Marie Kasten. There, Janice was raised and received her education. She has one brother, Dennis Becker, and three sisters, Joan Boehm, Kathleen Wehrhahn, and Doris Durffee. Janice attended Brigham Young University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. One week after her graduation she married Jack Jr. Alberts. Janice spent her professional career as an RN working at the Dee Hospital, the McKay-Dee Hospital, the Weber County Hospital, and retired after working for many years at the Weber Human Services Division. She enjoyed working with and helping other people . Janice and Jack were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS temple on June 12, 1959. They were blessed with four children, John, Michelle, Diane, Lynette and a Lamanite daughter, Charlene Begay Tyler. Each of the children are now married and raising their families. Janice and Jack have 11 grandchildren. She loved her children and enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren, having sleepovers, attending ball games, recitals and school functions. Janice was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When she was 17 years old she received a 5-year pin for teaching Primary. She served as teacher in Primary, Sunday School, Young Women and Relief Society. She was the Ward Chorister for many years; served as Relief Society president; and has been very involved in Family History as the Ward Family History Specialist as well as working on her own. Janice is remembered as a patient mom, a kind neighbor and a loyal friend. She touched countless live s with her kindness, friendliness, and giving spirit. She is temporarily leaving behind her husband Jack and four children, John (Kaylee) Alberts, Michelle (Keith) Pitchford, Diane (Todd) Bliss, and Lynette (Francisco) Quezada; 11 grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Andrea, Katelyn, Keegan, Hunter, Kylee, Daniel, Emily, Camilla and David; her brother Dennis, and sisters, Joan, Kathleen and Doris. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. A viewing will be held Thursday, August 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary located at 5865 S. 1900 W. in Roy. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5th at 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel located at 4900 S. 2000 W. in Roy. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Butcher Born April 5, 1966 to Carl R. and Carrie Mikkelsen Butcher. Died July 31, 2005 at 4:20 p.m. after a valiant struggle with a terminal illness he has returned to the hands of the Lord. Campbell, Beth NORTH OGDEN - Beth Nelson Campbell, 70, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at Infinia Care Center in Ogden. She was born January 29, 1935 in Salt Lake City to Rasmus K. and Zula Jensen Nelson. She married LaVere Bud Arlie Campbell on June 5, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Beth was a member of the North Ogden Civic League, and had been an election judge. She was also a member of the North Ogden 21st Ward. She served in the Relief Society presidency, worked in the Young Women's organization and was a visiting teacher. Surviving are her husband, LaVere Bud A. Campbell; two daughters and one son, Colynn (Jack) Hamilton, Colorado Springs, CO; CindyAnn (Clair) Madsen, Riverton, UT; Neil A. (Ayesha) Campbell, North Ogden, UT; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Gibson, Dee Edgar OGDEN - Dee Edgar Gibson passed away July 29, 2005, two days after his 88th birthday. He was born July 27, 1917 in Ogden, UT. A son of Alfred and Jen Mae Shupe Gibson. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Bell on March 13, 1941. They had two sons, Gary ( Dixie) Gibson, South Ogden and Brent (Sandy) Gibson, Riverdale. He worked for O.U.R. & D and Union Pacific Railroad. He retired after 41 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and gardening.He is survived by his wife, sons, five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. At Dee's request there will be a gathering of friends, from 1:30 to 3 :00 p.m. Wednesday August 3, 2005 with entombment services at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Leavitt's Aultorest Mausoleum 836 36th Street. Hayes, 75, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Ogden Regional Medical Center. She was born October 21, 1929 in Paris, Texas, a daughter of Styles Eliza and Cora Pauline Davis Gunn. On September 19, 1947, Frances married Bruce Allen Hayes in San Diego, California. Bruce preceded her in death on August 20, 2002. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Women's Auxiliary. She loved crafts, sewing, and needlework. Frances was extremely devoted to her family. Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Cadell, Dayton, OH; Katherine (Bill) Roche, Ogden; Jane (Mike) Barnette, Norco, CA; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents and two brothers. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Lindquist's Crematory. Leyva, Medina Lorraine Medina Lorraine Leyva Sept. 9, 1961 - July 31, 2005 "Old Bat" Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, and friend passed away July 31, 2005. She was born September 9, 1961 in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the toughest little girl in the world. She overcame a tremendous amount of adversity in her life. She loved camping, snowmobiling, the great outdoors, and spending time with her grandson, Jordan. She had a laugh that is unforgettable and a sense of humor that kept you in stitches. She loved to talk and visit with all her friends and family. She also loved spending time in her vegetable garden which she planted every year and enjoyed tending to her roses in her front yard. She dearly loved her three children and wanted them to have a happy and good life and she adored her first grandchild Jordan. She is loved by so many people that will miss her dearly and never forget the person she was and joy she brought to so many lives. She is survived by three children, daughter, Amber Leyva and two sons, Eric Leyva and Tyson Leyva; one grandchild, Jordan Leyva; ex-husband and father of her three children, Eusevio Chesty Leyva and son-in-law, Darnell Williams. Also surviving are her father, Brent Weaver; mother, Heleme Davenport; three sisters, Shannon McGee, Michelle Polatis and Brooke; brother, Roy Layne Monson; sister-in-law, Julie Moffitt and nephew, Darren Murray; also six remaining brothers, Dean Cropper, Shawn, Shea, Joel, Brady and Tyler Weaver and many, many friends who love and miss her. Nielson passed away peacefully at Heritage Park Care Center in Roy. He was born November 22, 1928 in Roy, Utah to Gladys Francom and Elmer Nielson. Lyle married Dorothy Neal in 1950. They raised three children together, Kathy (Charlie) Chandler, Steve (Les) Nielson and Kurt (Kim) Nielson. They divorced in 1975. He then married Rhea Anderson Aven on July 30, 1975 and helped raise her three children Bobbie Jean and (Marlan) Allen, Michael (Pattie) Aven, Linda (Don) Lindsay, He has 13 grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren. Lyle took great pride in his family. We always knew we were loved by Dad. His sense of humor and fun loving personality will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII. The Korean War and the Bay of Pigs. He served in the reserve with the 313th Fighter Bomber Squadron and with the 419th Fighter Bomber Squadron. He was honest and forthright and an exceptional man. He was a hero to his family and a brave man who battled for our freedom. His favorite place of refuge was his cabin in Sun Ridge. His favorite hobbies were pheasant hunting, pheasant hunting, and pheasant hunting. He is survived by his wife Rhea of 30 years and children, sisters Peggy, Jolene, Jean and a brother Karl. Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, one brother-in-law, niece and nephew. The family would like to thank Vista Care Hospice for their loving care. Pettry, Avril Thornton ROY - Avril Thornton Pettry, 82, passed away July 31, 2005 at her home after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born in Plymouth, Utah on March 19, 1923 a daughter of Violet Christensen and Vern Thornton. Avril married Eugene Victor Pettry and between them enjoyed two sons. Avril is survived by her two sons, Von E. and Trent L. (Tracy), seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers Jack Thornton, Hal (Lila), Ross (Cheryl) two sisters Dorcus (Doyle) Christensen, Myrna Arudea and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brother Claire and sister Jerry. Avril had many occupations in her life and retired from IRS. She died from complications of pneumonia at the Ogden Regional Hospital. Dee was born on December 20, 1934, the daughter of Kenneth and Elizabeth Fortney. She married James Ricord on August 15, 1958. Dee graduated from Wichita State University in 1959, later she earned an accounting degree from Weber State. Dee taught school for several years and then worked at IRS Service Center for 30 years, retiring in 1995. She held a private pilots license and was active in the International Organization of Women Pilots (99s). Dee was a very active lady. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR). She was active in the Community Presbyterian Church of Brigham City where she held many offices locally and state wide. Dee was an active member of the Ogden Opera Guild and past board member. She was an organist and active in that group. She was a volunteer during the 2002 Olympics in the ice skating venue. Dee was a lifelong quilter and made many beautiful quilts. Dee is survived by her loving husband of 47 years; Jim, her brother, Kenneth (Deanne) of Wichita, Kansas, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT. Friends may call on Monday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the Mortuary. VanderWerff, Reinder ROY - Reinder (Rein) VanderWerff, age 77, passed away August 1, 2005 at home. Rein was born December 18, 1927, in Rotterdam, Netherlands to Pieter and Johanna (Schnyder) VanderWerff. At age 15 Rein joined the Air Raid services serving as a Messenger Boy. In 1944 he joined the Resistance and went underground into espionage. Rein attended Maritime College for four years then went into the Merchant Marines where he served 8 1/2 years with the rank of Deck Officer Second Mate. Rein spoke four languages, English, Dutch, German and French fluent. It was between his high school and college years he met Liz (Elisabeth) DeRoo. On October 18, 1951, Rein and Liz were married. Their first son was born in 1953. A few months later Rein and Liz emigrated from the Netherlands to America and began their journey in Salt Lake City, Utah. During their journey three additional children were born (two sons and one daughter). In 1959 Rein started his career with Jetway in Ogd en. After 18 years of service Rein quit Jetway moved to California to pursue his own company - Structural Steel Drafting and Design. In 1992 he retired and in 1999 relocated to Roy, Utah, moving to Apple Blossom Subdivision. Surviving are two sons Ronald/Ron (Jana) VanderWerff of Farr West, Utah and Reinder/Roc (Terry) VanderWerff of Perris, California as well as five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Rein is preceded in death by his parents, brother (Pieter), sister (Elley), daughter (Karen VanderWerff), son (Pieter/Pete VanderWerff) and grandson (Dustin VanderWerff Christensen). In honor of Rein's wishes there will be a graveside service on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, where he will be laid to rest with his two children (Pete and Karen VanderWerff) and wife Liz.
