She was born on January 11, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to Lorin Woodruff and Norma Jones Norseth. Mary was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1947. Mary was married to Robert W. Wayment on October 10, 1947 in Evanston, Wyoming, who preceded her in death on October 4, 1982. She then married David R. Anderson in January 1995 in Ogden, Utah. She worked for many years for the Weber School District. Mary enjoyed her family and family activities. She loved to support her kids and grandkids in their school events. She loved music and singing with her music group, and had a beautiful voice. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions and especially enjoyed her calling as an Ogden Temple Worker. Mary loved animals, gardening and doing service for others. She is survived by her husband, David, her sons, Scott (Jeanne) Wayment, Kim (Ilene) Wayment, daughter Teri (Bob) Bartruff, nephew K.C. (Judy) Norseth, two stepsons, Jeff (Sharleen) and Rob (Sharrie), and stepdaughter Susan Wright. Also surviving is her brother, William (Barbara) Norseth, and sister Barbara (Darrell) Hincks, 28 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lloyd, Don, and Keith Norseth, one granddaughter Kelly Brooke Wayment, and one great-grandson Cy Robert Bartruff. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Bailey "The Best Dad Ever" OGDEN - Sam died way to soon at the age of 45 at his home early Tuesday morning. He was born January 4, 1960 in Ogden, UT. He leaves behind his two daughters, Misty Bailey and Cherry Bailey; one stepson, Michael Kruitbosh; three beautiful granddaughters, Madison O. Bailey (Misty), Acacia J. Bailey (Cherry) and Alayna Kruitbosch and also his new found love and soul mate Pamela Vaughn. Also surviving him are his mother, seven sisters, three brothers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome C. Bailey; his brother and best friend, Scott B. Sprunt; his sister, Mary E. Smith and his niece Diana Droesbeke. Sam was a single father and raised his two daughters as best he could, we struggled through some bad times but gained the good times that are now memories never to be forgotten. He was the best dad anyone could ask for. Misty and Cherry were his entire universe and loved them so much and then he was given the most beautiful two grandbabies that he adored and admired so much. Madison and Acacia were the apples of his eyes and they were more than he imagined or hoped for, he loved being their "Papa". Sam had many close friends but he considered them family more than just friends, he loved and cared for them very much. He was the most unselfish person you'd ever meet, he would always lend a helping hand to anybody who needed it, it didn't matter what the circumstances were he was always there. Sam touched the lives of everyone he knew and loved and meant a lot to everyone who was able to know him and have him a part of their lives. Sam was a very special man to everyone that knew him; he was a very rare type of person, the kind you only meet once in a lifetime, He loved everyone and never judges anyone or had anything negative to say about someone. He just had a very open heart and mind that made him very unique. He meant a lot to the people close to him and he will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be conducted at Myers Mortuary in Brigham City, Utah, Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Honeyville Cemetery. Lee was born on January 18, 1933, in Honeyville, Utah, to Ray and Alice Boothe. He graduated from Box Elder High School where he was an outstanding athlete and received the Ogden Standard-Examiner Player of the Year athletic award. Lee was awarded an athletic scholarship to Utah State University, played basketball and football, and earned his degree in physical education. He began coaching high school football and basketball in Ely, Nevada. Following four years in Ely, he moved to Merced, California, teaching physical education and coaching for 35 years. Lee concluded his career as the head coach of the University of West Georgia's men's and women's tennis program. Since leaving the coaching ranks, he was an active m ember of the West Georgia Braves Booster Club, and was elected to a seat on the club's Board of Directors. Lee also served on the Merced Parks and Recreation Commission and as president of the Merced Community College Quarterback Club. He was a member of the Carrollton First United Methodist Church. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Alice Boothe, his sister, Delores Bourne, and his son, Steven Lee Boothe. Lee is survived by his wife, Diane; three sons, Jeff (Sherry), Don, and Jesse (Julie); and four stepchildren, Michelle Caspary, Dan Caspary, Melissa Caspary (Mark Poucher), and Scott (Alye) Caspary; brother, Merrill Boothe, 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Goodell, George Everett SOUTH OGDEN - George Everett Goodell died peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at Ogden Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born August 6, 1932, in Ogden, Utah, to Everett M. and Sarah Burton Goodell. On June 3, 1956, George married Lida M. Christensen. They had two sons, Gregory and Michael. They were later divorced. On November 18, 1982, he married Georgia Stratford. George enjoyed a wonderful and fulfilling life. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force. After the war, he was the administrator of the Weber County Hospital from 1965 to 1977, and until his retirement in 1998, George enjoyed many years working in the hospital administration field. In 1994, he put his administrative skills to work as the Mayor of South Ogden City, serving two terms. During that time he was chairman of the Central Weber Sewer District and was vice chairman of the Weber Consolidated Dispatch Board. He als o served in the Weber/Morgan Health Board and the Ogden Area Community Action Agency Board. George was an excellent cook and loved cooking for his friends and family. His grandchildren were the sunshine of his life. He was a complex, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and is sorely missed. George is survived by his wife, Georgia, sons Gregory and Michael (Sheri), his grandchildren, Bailee, Maggi, Dallas, and Gretchen. Also surviving are one brother Jay R. (Claudia) Goodell and sisters Beverly (Melvin) Schroeder, Carol (Larry) Gardiner, Karen (Lynn) Rasmussen, and Janice Summers. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Doctors Jeffrey Abel and Chris Anderson and the staff of Ogden Regional Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care during his many hospitalizations. Hansen, Johannes Hubertus Johannes Hubertus Jacobus Jan Hansen HARRISVILLE - Our beloved husband, father, and Opa, 81, passed away peacefully August 11, 2005. Jan was born on October 30, 1923 to Willem Joseph and Maria Cornelia Houben Hansen in Brunssum, Limburg, the Netherlands. He married Maria Regina Schutt on May 21, 1947. After working 22 years in the coal mines, he moved with his wife and two children, Anna Maria and Bill, to Ogden, Utah in 1958. Jan worked very hard for nine years as a building engineer for Ogden High School. In 1968 he started his own business, Superior Tops, building custom cabinets and countertops, which he operated until his retirement in 1985. After retirement, Opa and Oma enjoyed their time traveling together with their family from Holland. Jan was an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. His accomplishments were amazing and numerous, yet his greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his family. Jan is survived by his wife, daughter Anna Maria (Francis) Remkes, Ogden, UT; son Bill (Barbara) Hansen, Riverdale, UT; sister Gertha Kisters, brothers Joseph (Annie) Hansen and Gerardus Hansen, and sister-in-law Lenie Hansen, all of Brunssum, Limburg, the Netherlands. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, who dearly loved him. Opa had a wonderful sense of humor and was our patriarch and our rock. He is very much loved and will be missed by many. Higley, Ansta Lucile ROY - Ansta Lucile Dawson Higley passed away on August 9, 2005 at the Heritage Park Care Center in Roy. She was born to Fannie and John Dawson on December 11, 1919 in Clinton, Utah where she grew up working alongside her eight siblings on the family's Farm and orchard. Ansta was a very hard worker and contributed much as a valued employee in several positions over the course of her lifetime. After graduating from Weber High School she began working at the shipyard in Oregon, then later at the box factory in Ogden, the Arsenal and finally at Hill Air Force Base. Ansta married Clarence Higley on August 26, 1944 in Ogden, Utah. They settled in Roy where they raised three children Keith, Marie and Janette. Ansta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family very much. Her siblings remember the many family reunions that she planned and organized and that she was a great cook. Ansta was also an excellent driver and enjoyed going on road trips with her husband and sisters to Salt Lake, Las Vegas and Wendover. She loved going to see movies and gardening with her husband and was always sharing the bounty of their garden with family and neighbors. Ansta was a most kind, gracious and friendly person who gave everything that she had to others. It was an honor to know her and she will be greatly missed. Ansta is survived by three grandchildren Keith Higley and Rachel and Sarah Collmeyer, three sisters Norma Cragun, Lois Geddes and Virginia Kaser and two brothers Joseph and Wilbert Dawson. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence and her three children Keith and Marie Higley and Janette Collmeyer. Hitt, Ford Joseph SYRACUSE - Ford Joseph Hitt, 52, entered the Promised Land Wednesday, August 10, 2005. He was born November 7, 1952 in Oneonta, New York, the son of Ford and Marjorie Hitt. He married Donna Genung, October 16, 1971, in New York Mills, New York. He served in the United States Air Force for four years and was a Vietnam Era Veteran. He graduated from Riverside School of Aeronautics in Utica, New York. He attended numerous schools of technology and received several distinguished graduate awards. He graduated from Weber State University with a B.S. Joe was very passionate about aircraft and loved working as an aircraft mechanic. He attended Woodstock and loved both Bob Dylan and The Boss. Music was his passion. He was a very compassionate, deep, and artistic soul - a huge dreamer. As a father he taught his daughters culture and had a spiritual connection with his daughter Brandi that was very special to them both. A devoted husband, son, brother, father, humorous friend and host, he loved hiking, gold mining, and entertaining friends and family. He coached both AYSO soccer and a men's softball league. He also created Syracuse City's slogan Looking to the Future. He especially loved biking and playing with his grandchildren - Brayden, Jenna, and Megan. He is survived by his wife Donna and his two daughters Dana Pledger, Riverdale; Brandi Hitt-Bergevin, Clearfield; his parents Ford and Marjorie Hitt, New York; and twelve brothers and sisters: Doug, Theresa, George, James, Lavina, Rosemary, Jean, Kathy, Sally, Mary, Donna, and John. He was born December 21, 1936 in Portland, Oregon, to Theodore H. and Emma G. Justice Puckett. Rod married Joanne Porter on July 26, 1958 in Carson City, Nevada. They made their home in Ogden, Utah for 35 years and then moved to St. George, Utah spending many winters at their home in Quartzite, Arizona. Rod served with the United States Air Force. Dad was a talented craftsman in both metal and wood. He enjoyed designing, creating, building, and tinkering with his many projects. He enjoyed traveling to various destinations in the United States, Canada and Europe with his wife Joanne and their family. He never liked to travel the same road twice. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, St. George; their three children, Rodney Allen (Lisa) Puckett, Peggy Sue (Scott) Muir, Brenda Kay (Jeff) Sappington, 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his brother, Edwin Puckett. Rees, Charlene W. ROY - Charlene Whitaker Deem Rees, our dear Mother, returned to Our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 10, 2005. Mom was born the third child of Lewis Eugene and Emma Charlotte Cole Whitaker on November 27, 1916 at the home of her Grandparents in Willard, Utah. Mom was raised in Promontory, Utah, on the family's dry farm. As a teenager, Mom spent the school years living with families in Brigham City, working her way through high school. Mom graduated from Box Elder High School in 1935. Mom married Justin Kimball Deem on November 21, 1935. They spent 37 years together before he passed away on October 14, 1972. They lived in Ogden, Utah; Idaho; California; Oregon; Colorado; and returned to Utah in 1946 settling in Willard, Utah. Mom always felt Willard was home and kept in touch with friends there after she moved to Roy in 1993. Mom married John Hansen Rees of Willard in Elko, Nevada on March 6, 1978. Mom and John enjoyed each other's company and traveled every winter to Arizona; California, and Mexico prior to settling in Circle City, Arizona and then in St. George. John passed away July 28, 1995. Mom started working at the Willard, Utah Post Office as the Clerk in 1959 and was appointed Post Master May 1, 1973, serving in that position until her retirement August 10, 1979. Mom was a very strong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught us through her example, to love the Lord and be thankful for his love and blessings. Mom spent over 25 years serving in the primary, many years in the Relief Society and was a visiting teacher for almost 50 years. One of Moms greatest joys was attending the Temple which she did on a regular basis. Mom's life was full of service to others. She was always the center of her family and her family was the center of her life. Mom had a gentle, sweet sprit - it was a joy to be with her. Mom is survived by her family of sons and daughters-in-law, Glen W and Karen Deem of Huntsville; Laren J and Leah Rae Deem of Bicknell; J Klaren and Bonnie Deem of St. George; Rodger W and Judy Deem of Fallon, Nevada. Also surviving are her daughter and sons-in-law, Marla and James Spear of Hooper and G. Blake Mortenson of Hooper. Mom was very proud of her 37 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, each knew they were Grandma's favorite. Through life, some of us were lucky enough to gain children through marriage and each and every one of these additions was fully counted as a member of Mom's family. Mom's heart was big enough for all of us. Mom is survived by her brothers, sisters, and in-laws Lilly Whitaker Littlefield of So. Jordan; Arnold Whitaker of Bear River City; Maxine Nelson of Layton; Norma and Harold Larsen of Brigham City; Darwin and Arloa Whitaker of St. George; LaVar and Colleen Whitaker of Concord, California; Florence Whitaker of Farr West; Lucille Deem of Huntsville and her numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, h usbands Justin and John, her son Curtis L, her grandson Jeffery Lynn Deem and her brothers Edward and Jarvis Whitaker. Mother was a very independent lady and she lived alone taking care of her needs almost to the end of her life. Each of us wanted Mom to come and live with us, but Mom would say; that's not my way - I need to stay home as long as I can. We love you Mother and miss you already. We would like to very sincerely thank those who took such wonderful care of our Mother, Dr. Gary Christensen, whom she adored. The wonderful people at McKay Dee Hospital; Moms grandson-in-law Dr. Robert Ziegler, Dr Milavetz, Dr. Baumann, her nurse Jeff Goss, and social worker Brandy. Willis, Eric Lynn Eric Lynn Willis 8/29/69 - 8/11/2005 Our darling Eric was born in Ogden, Utah to parents Fred Leon Willis and Donna Ann Gordon. Eric passed away on August 11th in Pueblo, Colorado. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. Eric worked at Western Zirconium and Bug Craft, and he was currently attending Pueblo Community College. Eric loved to camp and fish and spend time in the mountains. Folks who knew Eric will agree that he knew how to have a good time. He was a talented and loving person who laughed easily and often. He enjoyed family and friend gatherings; he also enjoyed cooking and was very good at it. Eric is survived by his parents, son Eric Michael Willis, brothers Scott Willis and Daniel Willis, aunts Janis Johnson and Michele Johnson, uncle Donald C.
