Winder, 90, our role model for so many years, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 11, 2005. He was born September 4, 1914, in Ammon, Idaho, a son of Nathaniel Winder and Mary Emma Croft Winder. On December 7, 1934, Arvel married Nellie Dean Travis in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She preceded him in death on September 15, 1990. He worked various jobs including cement worker, baker, farm worker and sheepherder in his early years. He worked at Model Laundry for 34 years before retiring in 1976 at the age of 62. Arvel was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His interests were his family, his yard, fly-fishing, bowling, playing pool at the Golden Hours Center, and watching sports, especially the Utah Jazz and Atlanta Braves. Pop led a simple life and lived by simple rules; responsibility for your actions, and respect for others. He was proud of his family, and enjoyed being with them for any occasion. His sense of humor was qui ck and brought smiles to those who knew him. He had a sense of humor to the very end. In addition to his wife, two sons, Travis Lynn and Neal Eugene Winder, a grandson, David Scott Allen, four brothers, Nathan, Lloyd, DeVere and Blaine Winder, and a sister, Myrle Russell, preceded him in death. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Ethan and Arvella Allen, Ogden; Cecil and Deanna Powell, Lake Havasu City, AZ; Roger and Margaret Winder, Ogden; Frank and Julie Winder, Hooper; and a daughter-in-law, Donette Winder, Ogden. He has 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Russell, Dubois, Idaho; and Veda Driscoll, Idaho Falls, Idaho. We are blessed to have had Dad for so many years. His smile and humor will be missed, but we know he has joined all those that he loved and that we will be together again in the future. The family wishes to give special thanks to the many kind folks at Vista Care Hospice and Cre stwood Care Center for the loving care that was given to our dad the last months of his life. Especially, Nicole Thompson, who loved our dad as we did.
