Dutson Friday, August 26, 2005 CLEARFIELD Eldon V. Dutson, 93, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005. He was born April 27, 1912 to Columbus Dutson and Nellie VanLeuvan Dutson in Grover, Wyoming. He married Helen Jurasck on October 6, 1934, she later died on June 17, 1991. They had four children, Donna, Joann, Bob, and Dick. He married Elaine Perkins Roberts on February 12, 1993 in the Ogden LDS Temple. Eldon was always happy. He had a wonderful disposition, was kind, thoughtful, helpful and compassionate. Eldon is survived by his wife Elaine; sister, Ruby Cornell, Clearfield; sons, Richard (Judy) Dutson, Jig Harbor, WA, Bob (Alice) Dutson, Arlington, WA; stepson, Keith Roberts, Ogden; daughters, Donna (Norman) Beesley, Port Orchard, WA, and JoAnn (Arther) Sampson, Fruitland, WA; step-daughters, Susan (Thayle) Anderson, Fruitland, ID, and Amie (David) Carrick, Huntsville; 35 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lyman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 8th Ward Chapel, 275 N. 200 W. Lorenzo "Shavy"Francis Argyle Friday, August 26, 2005 RIVERDALE - Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital surrounded by his family. Shavy was born September 20, 1920 in Lake Shore, Utah, to Joseph L. and Serina Annie Argyle. He attended schools in Lake Shore and Spanish Fork. He married Lois Harper on January 15, 1941 in Spring Lake, Utah. They raised three children, Janet, Kent and David. Lois passed away February 19, 1975. He married Mona L. Burks on March 19, 1976 and inherited two children, Judy and Jim. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Shavy began his career at the Ogden Arsenal. Later he worked for the Ogden Post Office for 37 years. He worked his way up from parcel post to Vehicle Maintenance Superintendent. He finished his career as Officer in Charge. He was a member of the "41 Duck Club" where he served as president for several years. He was also a member of the F.O.E. Shavy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Riverdale 8th Ward. He loved hunting and fishing. He always had a beautiful flower and vegetable garden which he loved sharing with family and friends. He traveled extensively with his grandchildren when they competed in high school and college rodeos. He loved spending his summers in the canyon at the Eagles Park and his winters in Arizona and Mexico. Shavy is survived by his wife Mona and children: Janet (Robert) Petersen, Ogden; Kent (Judy) Argyle, Hooper; David Argyle, Layton; Judy (Kent) Argyle, Hooper; Jim (Dr. Bette Pappas) Burks, Rockville MD; his twin sister Lanora Mott, Spanish Fork; seven grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, three great-greatgrandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lois, brothers Evan and Rell Argyle and sisters Leah Tolman and Norma Schroader. Lois Jane Heitz Friday, August 26, 2005 OGDEN - Lois Jane Hovey Heitz, 90, a longtime resident of Ogden, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2005 of natural causes. Lois was born November 15, 1914 in Millville, Utah, the daughter of Leslie and Estella Johnson Hovey, the oldest of five children. She was raised and educated in Logan where she graduated from Logan High School. Lois attended Utah State Agricultural College, where she served in the Women's R.O.T.C. Sponsor and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Following college she married William S. Heitz on December 25, 1937. Their first home was in Cody, Wyoming where her husband was employed by The Indian Services as a civil engineer. Following World War II, Lois and Bill moved to Ogden where they raised two sons. Lois was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Highland Ward for 55 years. She had been active in Primary and Relief Society for many years. Lois was active in the Aglaia Social Club, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Sego Lily Camp, and Lady Lions. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to South America, Europe, Russia and Asia. Surviving are two sons and their wives, William H. and Diane L. Heitz, Glen Ellyn, IL; James R. and Barbara N. Heitz, Laguna Niguel, CA; two grandchildren, William Clay (Leslie) and Nicole Lisa, and one great-grandchild, William Hunter Heitz. Lois is also survived by two younger brothers, Paul L. (Kate) Hovey, Idaho Falls, ID; Harold A. (Phyllis) Hovey, Ogden. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Max and Boyd Hovey. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 12 noon at the Logan City Cemetery with her brother, Paul Hovey, officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Nancy Vivian Barnes Higgs Friday, August 26, 2005 LAYTON On August 24, 2005 Nancy Higgs, age 69 passed away after struggling for many years with health problems. Our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend will be missed by all those who knew her. Nancy was born July 9, 1936 to Charles and Vivian Ivie Barnes in Heber City. She married Clarence William Higgs, Jr. on June 28, 1954 in the SLC Temple. She loved the Lord and her family and friends. She had six grandchildren. Nancy is survived by husband Clarence of Layton; brothers, Robert Barnes of SLC, Jerry Barnes of SLC, Charles Thomas Barnes of Butte, Montana; her sons, Larry (Janet) Higgs of Sunset, and Tim (Vesta) Higgs of Moab. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sister, and a grandson. Nancy was known for being loving and very helpful and caring to others, even after her health made it hard for her to do much. She will be missed very much but is now able to rest and she will no longer be in pain. Thank you to all of the healthcare professionals who helped her. Spencer Panter Friday, August 26, 2005 PLEASANT VIEW- Lorin Spencer Panter, 64, former Thatcher, Idaho resident, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at his home in Pleasant View. He was born November 13, 1940, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Lorin John and Lola McGregor Panter. He married Gay Johnson on August 21, 1959, in Grace, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on Nov. 13, 1961. He worked at Monsanto for sixteen years and he also farmed. He was employed for ten years at Thiokol and retired from Autoliv after ten years of employment with them. He loved to golf and spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Gay Panter of Pleasant View; two daughters and two sons, Penny (David) Jenkins of N. Ogden, Utah; Lori (Rik) Troyer of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Scott (Sue) Panter of Preston, Idaho; Charles (Andraya) Panter of Preston, Idaho; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and by a brother, LaMar (RaNae) Panter of Thatcher, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Thatcher Ward Chapel with Bishop Steven Smith conducting. Patty Larkin Friday, August 26, 2005 LAYTON - Maria Patty Gutierrez Larkin, 69, "eternally 29" died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Ogden Regional Medical Center from complications of pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis. She was born June 1, 1936 in Gallup, New Mexico, a daughter of Higinio and Monica Cordova Gutierrez. On May 15, 1958, Patty married Louis M. Larkin in Winslow, Arizona. Louis preceded her in death November 15, 1996. Her early years were spent in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Winslow, Arizona. As a new bride she joined her husband in England. Dianna, their first child, was born there. Two years later Kelly was born in Arizona. They moved to Oregon, Texas and later settled in Ogden where Patty Lou was born. Patty was raised Catholic and later joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in the Young Women's organization and served as Ward Librarian. Patty was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed quilting, was famous for her pies, and oil painting. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and had a special love for her darling dog, "Dolly". Surviving are three daughters, Dianna (Robert) Lindquist, Ogden; Kelly (Lyle) Waters, Layton; Patty Lou Olguin, Ogden; her grandchildren, Jasmine, Tionna, Bobby, Amanda, Brian, Benjamin, Kelsey, Brooke, Halston, Drew and Devin; and four great-grandchildren, Skyller, Bryson, Bailey and Andrew, and her special nephew Walter Forgacs. Patty also leaves behind her mother, Monica, Arizona; four brothers, Higinio, Andrew, Gill, and Lorrie, two sisters, Linda Eberhard and Ramona Forgacs, and many neighbors and friends. Thanks to the physicians and nursing staff who cared for her. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Carl Allen Lawson Friday, August 26, 2005 Eternal Companions CLEARFIELD Carl Allen Lawson, 91, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died peacefully on August 23, 2005. Carl was born May 3, 1914 in Fielding, Utah, the son of William Henry Lawson and Birdie Alice Cannon. He was a resident of Ogden, Utah most of his life and graduated from Ogden High School in 1933. Carl worked at Hill Air Force Base, Tooele Army Depot, and the Ogden Defense Depot from which he retired in 1972. Following retirement he was involved in volunteer work and enjoyed golfing. Carl married Irene Alice Leach on July 15, 1939. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Carl and Irene were married for 62 years. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2001. They are now together. They had two sons, Carl F. and Gary A. Lawson. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Ogden Third Ward Bishopric and Sunday School Presidency. He is survived by sons, Carl F. (Jacque) Lawson, Parker, Colorado; Gary A. (Wendee) Lawson, Kaysville, Utah; sisters, Doris McPherson, Washington; Alice Anderson, California; and Ann James, Logan, Utah; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by brothers Richard Lawson, Donald and Tillman Fowers; and by a sister Velma Fowers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., where friends may call on Friday night, Aug 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Aug 27 from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery. Wilks Friday, August 26, 2005 SYRACUSE - Fontella A. Wilks, 87, died Monday, August 22, 2005 at home, surrounded by her loving family in Syracuse. She was born November 23, 1917, on Thanksgiving Day, in Brigham City, Utah, a daughter of Lester and Cleopha Johnson Anderson. Fontella married Osborne (Tobe) Wilks on January 11, 1943 in Ogden. He died October 5, 1985. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was raised and educated in Ogden. She graduated from Ogden High school and also from Stevens-Henager Business College. Fontella was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She especially loved teaching in Relief Society. She worked for Marriner S. Browning and later for his son, Matt and his wife, Bobbie for over 30 years. She was the Office Manager and a very close friend of the Browning family. Fontella loved to travel. She traveled throughout the world and especially loved China and Jerusalem. She survived a typhoon while visiting China. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Winn, Syracuse; grandson, Jeff Winn, Roy; Also surviving are her two loving dogs, Buddy and Beasley. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
