Lyman was born August 1, 1910 on Wilson Lane to Joseph and Florence Sewell Anderson. Lyman attended Weber High School where he served as Junior Class President for the Class of 1928. In 1929 Lyman met and married Violet Berry. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. During their 61 years of marriage Lyman and Violet were an incredible example of love and devotion to all who knew them. They were blessed with two daughters, Dolores and Shelley and a son, Lyman Kenneth. In his early years Lyman worked at Mack Robinson's garage and was a manager at the Pepsi Cola Bottling Works. Lyman began his career as a railroad engineer with the OUR&D in 1929. Lyman served as a union representative for many years. Through his work with the union and all of his associations with fellow employees he was known as a man of great integrity and fai rness. Lyman was known throughout his entire life as a gentleman. Lyman was a member of the Ogden 15th Ward for over 60 years. During many of these years he enjoyed working in the genealogical name extraction program. Lyman was a member of Woodman of the World for most of his life. Lyman and Violet enjoyed many good times and exhilarating vacations with their Woodman friends. In later years, as one of only a handful of surviving members and the last surviving male member of the group, Lyman always made an effort to keep the group in touch. Lyman was an incredibly hard worker and could work a man a third his age into the ground. Through hard work and tender loving care Lyman and Violet created their own little piece of heaven on earth on their Back Achers on West 2nd Street. Their home was an inviting haven with a lovely garden, sumptuous berry patch, beautiful flowers and of course the horses which Lyman kept clear into his 90's. Lyman resided for three years at the Gardens Assisted Living Center and spent the last six months at the Wasatch Care Center in Ogden. The family thanks the wonderful people from the Gardens, Wasatch and IHC Hospice who did so much to make Lyman's last years pleasant. Lyman is survived by his two daughters, Dolores (Glen) Myers, Ogden; and Shelley (William) Hart, Harrisville; daughter-in-law Darla Iba; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six 3/4 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Florence Becraft and Mickey Fox, both of Roy. He was preceded in death by his son, Lyman Kenneth, his wife, parents, and one brother Kenneth.
