Born in Bradfordsville, Kentucky, on May 13, 1939, to Frank and Pearl Price, she was raised by her mother and her loving stepfather, Myron Wade, in Ogden, Utah. She was a life-long member of the L.D.S. Church, and it was an important part of her life. Evelena is survived by her loving sister, Corrine Smothers, and her children, Ronald Howell, the eldest, followed by Pamela Young, Kenneth Howell, Beverly Reynolds, John Howell, Michael Howell, Karen VanHulten, Carrie Lund and Paul Howell. She has 33 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who were the center and light of her life. She is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her older brother, Alden Price, both her parents and stepfather. Evelena loved to cook, camp, watch movies with her grandkids, and loved to beat them all at Chinese checkers. She loved to sing at church and with her kids, and welcomed everybody into her heart. Evelena lived most of her adult life in Ogden, Utah, followed by a few years in Bountiful, and several years in Salt Lake City. She had recently moved to Roy, Utah, to be closer to her family. Services under the direction of Leavitt's Mortuary will be held at the Country Meadows Ward in West Haven, Utah, at 3628 South 2700 West on Wednesday, February 23, 2005. There will be a viewing at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Evelena will be interred at Ogden City Cemetery at 1875 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Carver, Vivian Herrington Vivian Herrington Carver KAYSVILLE - Vivian Herrington Carver, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on February 20, 2005, surrounded by loving family members. Vivian was born November 3, 1919 in Ogden, Utah to Marshall and Lottie Herrington. Vivian grew up in a loving family of five brothers and sisters. She fell in love and married Truman H. Carver in the Salt Lake LDS Temple September 9, 1938 for time and all eternity. When she got married she quit her job as a dental assistant to devote her time and life to her husband and children. Vivian's dedication to her husband, children, and grandchildren guided her through out her life. Vivian was known for her cooking skills and her love of sweets especially chocolate. Vivian was an active member of the LDS church and served in the Primary, Relief Society, MIA as well as a Temple worker. Her true love was teaching Jr. Sunday School. Throughout her life she had an unfaltering testimony of the gospel. V ivian is survived by her husband Truman H. Carver and her two sons, Truman R. (Kathy) Carver, Kaysville; Michael J. Carver, Bountiful; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister, Beverly (Fred) Honing, Stevensville, Montana; and sister-in-law, Barbara Herrington, Las Vegas, Nevada. She was preceded in death by one son, Brent L. (Carol) Carver, Eden; her parents, brother, Kenneth Herrington, Ralph Herrington, Glen Herrington and sister, Thelma Carey. Clark OGDEN - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, 74, passed away with many loved ones by his side, peacefully Saturday, January 29, 2005 of complications due to cancer. He was born January 27, 1931, in Wellsville, Utah, the son of Hugh Clark and Zella Hoskin Clark. He graduated from South Cache High School. He honorably served an LDS mission in Ontario, Canada. He attended Utah State University before meeting his eternal companion Lola Gemar. They were married on November 14, 1958 in the Logan LDS temple. After retiring from Hill AFB in 1986, Rulon started a furniture manufacturing business with his son Doug, named "The Pine Factory". Rulon loved the opportunity to talk to customers and was very proud of the business. He worked until three weeks prior to his return to God. Rulon's first love was his family and friends. He enjoyed music, playing the piano, cooking, gardening, fishing, and laughing, and was an avid Weber State University Wildcat fan. He serve d as asst. Ward organist and in various other callings. He attended North Ogden 16th Ward. He was most happy helping others; wanting nothing in return. He was like a father to all that crossed his path. Rulon is survived by his wife Lola; four sons, Richard, Steven, Douglas (Wendy), and Mark (Victor); nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lila Rae (Bill) Jones, Dean (Norma) Clark, twin brother Calvin (Arlene) Clark, Carol (Doyle) Hansen, Linda (Terry) Barnard; and many other "adopted" sons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece. She married Thomas A. Corbett on August 30, 1945. They had two sons. Fern worked at the Ogden Defense Depot as a clerk typist during WWII. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Fern was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Stephen, a grandson Tom, and five sisters. Davis, Owen Wesley Owen Wesley Davis OGDEN - Owen Wesley Davis, beloved son, brother, and uncle, returned to his heavenly father on February 19, 2005, at the age of 57. Owen was born May 16, 1947 in Ogden, Utah, to Orval and Mary Ruth Davis. He grew up in Ogden and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Ben Lomond High School where he lettered in track and swimming as well as played trumpet in the band. He attended Weber State College before serving in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, and a Vietnamese campaign medal for his injury while serving his third tour of duty. He spent the remainder of his life in the care of his mother Mary Ruth and for the last two years, Jeremy Loftus, a special caregiver. He enjoyed watching TV, telling stories and taking long walks with his mom. He was preceded in death by his father Orval, and his sister Marilyn Rhead. Floyd, Sam Sam Floyd ROY - Our father, Sam Floyd, was reunited with our mother, Carol, in Heaven, Saturday, February 19, 2005. He was born in Myrtle, Mississippi on April 22, 1932. His parents, Mack and Emma Sue Floyd and our sister, Sandra Kay, were anxiously awaiting his arrival. Also, there to greet him were his nephews, Dean and David and many other loved ones. Those of us left behind: his daughter, Annie (Peter), son, Sammy (Rebecca), Grandchildren, Jake, Teal, Dezi, Trever, Logan and Zoie; Sam's sisters, brothers-in law, nieces, nephews and countless friends. Sam served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 on the U.S. St. Paul as a GM-3 during the Korean War. His absence will impact us all deeply. He touched so many with little effort. Lee Sr., James 1908-2005 James Roy Lee, Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 19th, 2005 in Layton, Utah. Born in Marion, Utah, on Oct. 28th, 1908 to Joseph McComas Lee and Lucy McCormick, Roy attended Salt Lake City schools, the Heneger Business College, and LaSalle University. While in the 8th grade he began working to support his mother and sister, Audrey (Wise). He was a member of the LDS Church. Roy served during WWII in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in India after which he returned to his job as a supervisor at Western Union where he met and married his sweetheart, Violet Elaine Thompson (McNair). He later worked for the U.S. Postal retiring in the early 1980's. Roy and Elaine enjoyed a rich and rewarding life together raising and showing dogs. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, wife, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children, James R. (Debra) Lee, Jr., Thomas I. (Travis) McNair, Peggy M. She was reared and educated in the Philippines. Teodora married Francisco Lopez on October 12, 1944 in Sison, Philippines and has lived in Layton for the past 20 years. Manning, William Wayne William Wayne Manning OGDEN - Our beloved father and grandfather William Wayne Manning, 79, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born November 9, 1925 in Evanston, Wyoming, a son of Jennie Eloise Fowles and Wallace G. Manning. Wayne enjoyed playing sports in his younger years and he played softball in his early adult years. He managed Little League Football and enjoyed coaching soccer. He also loved to hunt, fish and camp out. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served aboard a destroyer in the Pacific - (U.S.S. Hale DD642). It was the first warship to fire on the Japanese mainland. He was involved in five major Pacific battles, among which were Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Philippines, and Marianna's. He was also in the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea. Our dad was a very courageous man who was very loyal and devoted to his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all of us. He was known for his quick wit, good humor and his ability to relate countless fascinating stories of his varied experiences here and abroad. Dad is survived by his children Viola M. Pinkston of Layton, Bill Manning of Sunset, Gary L. (Debbie) Manning of Syracuse and Aric (Melony) Manning of North Ogden. He was born October 1, 1931 in Marvel, Colorado, the son of Jose and Eufemia Martinez. He married his sweetheart, Roberta Ruth Benton, on July 6, 1956 in Butte, Montana. Vernon was a veteran of the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he worked and retired from Hill Air Force Base as a civil servant doing aircraft and maintenance repair. He loved the outdoors and often went fishing and hunting. Vernon was loved by all. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Mason, Icel Roseborough Icel Roseborough Mason OGDEN - Icel Roseborough Mason died on February 19, 2005 following an extended illness. She was born December 27, 1921 in St. Anthony, Idaho. The daughter of Irl Roseborough and Arvilla Cotterell Roseborough. She graduated from St. Anthony High School and attended L.D.S. Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Weston Mason on September 27, 1941. After World War II they resided in Trinidad, Denver and Fort Collins, Colorado where she worked as a secretary for the Department of Agriculture and an insurance company. In 1952 they moved to Ogden, Utah and she began a 35-year career with First Security Bank. The last seven years of that employment were in the corporate offices in Salt Lake City, where she retired in 1987 as Administrative Assistant to the President of the Corporation. During her working years she served as Secretary and then as Chairperson of the Women's Committee for the Northern Utah Chapter of the American Institute of Banking. She was active in both Red Cross and Muscular Dystrophy drives, served on the Board of United Fund of Ogden and was secretary of Wasatch Snowmobiler's Assn. While working in Salt Lake City she was secretary to the Wasatch Group National Association of Bank Women and was an auxiliary member of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce. She served on the committee for the Gina Bachauer Piano competition. After retirement she took care of her ill husband until his death in 1989. She then took up stamp collecting and learned to play the organ. These hobbies brought her great pleasure. She loved people and spent much time looking after the needs of some shut-ins. Her strong philosophy of life was, "If you can't have what you want, then want what you have!" Surviving are her beloved daughter Carolyn and son-in-law William Christian of Santa Fe, New Mexico; two step-brothers, Gerald Clark of St. Anthony and Junior (Darleen) Clark of Rexburg, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by he r parents, step-mother, two brothers and a step-sister. Everyone who knew Icel loved her and will miss her very much. She made friends wherever she went with her sparkling humor and her love of life and of people. Naylor, Wanda Fae Haskell Wanda Fae Haskell Naylor1935-2005 FRUIT HEIGHTS - Our beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, 69, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on February 18, 2005 after a courageous struggle with cancer. Born November 29, 1935 in Payson, UT to Arnold Elonzo and Ida Harward Haskell, oldest of three children. She spent her summers growing up on Antelope Island and moved to SLC in 1950. She graduated from West High School. She was married and later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple to Duane Clark Naylor, April 19, 1952. They lived in South Salt Lake and moved to Fruit Heights, UT in 1966; they were later divorced. Wanda worked at Hill Air Force Base (FMS) Air Logistics Center. Retired after 35 years in 2002. She visited 54 countries. She is an active member of the Fruit Heights 5th Ward in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Savior and has a strong testimony. She had many church callings and persevered to the e nd. Wanda has nine stars recognized on her mothers Eagle Scout neckerchief and has proudly watched five missionaries return with four grandsons currently serving missions. As a loving mother, there is simply none better. Her life was centered around her children, extended family and the Gospel. Pech SOUTH OGDEN - A sadness was cast over our hearts with the death on Sunday, February 20, 2005, of our husband, father, and grandfather, Richard William Pech. He was a very loving, kind, and caring man. He will be greatly missed. For nearly five years, he fought the devastation of cancer with dignity and now is living his eternal reward in Heaven. Dick was born February 14, 1937 in LeMars, Iowa to George and Ruth Marx Pech. On May 8, 1965 he married Sue White and they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. To their marriage was born three children: David R. Pech, Jacque A. Russo and Christopher M. Pech. He worked as a computer engineer with Control Data Corporation for many years and was in management for Control Data Corp, Bell Atlantic Corporation and Decision One. He retired when he was diagnosed with cancer on April 1, 2000. Dick is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, David (Gina) Pech, Jacque (John) Russo, and Christopher (Ste phanie) Pech, eight grandchildren, Braydon, Madison, Isabella and Braxton Pech, Mitch and Josh Russo, and Jackson and Rylee Pech, his mother, Ruth Pech, his brothers Robert Pech and Randy Pech, and his two sisters JoAnn Leek and Linda Cosden. He was preceded in death by his father, George Pech and his father and mother-in-law, William and Bonnylin White. The family would like to express thanks to all of the compassionate and devoted caregivers that attended to his every need, including Dr. Leslye Ingersoll and Dr. Wolfram Samlowski. Their love and attention will never be forgotten. All of our many friends and family who cared for him so much, and who assisted him during the course of his illness have been the source of our strength. Reeve, Ina Fay Skinner Ina Fay Skinner Reeve "Parted No More" SUNSET - Ina Fay Skinner Reeve, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2005 having said her goodbyes to the family earlier in the day. She staged a brief but valiant battle with cancer. She was born January 9, 1929, Provo Bench, Utah, a daughter of Alfred and Rosy May Buckler Skinner. She married Dale B. Reeve, November 19, 1952 in the Manti Utah Temple; he passed away November 12, 1979. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a Sunday School and Relief Society Teacher, a lifetime Visiting Teacher and a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers. She served an LDS mission in Houston, Texas, was a Relief Society President, Primary Chorister, in the Stake Relief Society Presidency, and numerous other callings. She is survived by her two sons, Brent Reeve, Sunset, UT, Robert (Laurie) Reeve, South Jordan, UT, a daughter, Annette Reeve, Salt Lake City, UT and a son-in-law, Paul (Janet) Waite, Layton, UT; a brother, L yman Skinner, Orem, UT and a sister, Ruby Gull, Orem, UT and nine grandchildren. Shelton, Ethelyn Maurie Murdock OGDEN - Ethelyn Maurie Murdock Shelton, 76, passed away Friday, February 18, 2005 , at her home. She was born January 19, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Harold Dewey and Juanita M. Backer Murdock. On September 18, 1948, Ethelyn married Don Ray Shelton in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. She was raised in Ogden, attended Weber High and remained in Ogden for most of her life. Ethelyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as Primary President, Counselor in the Relief Society and Compassionate Service Leader. She was an active member of the PTA, volunteered for The Red Cross for several years and was President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Roy Chapter, in 1974. Ethelyn had many friends, she loved dancing and roller-skating and had a passion for gardening and flowers. She always enjoyed her great friendship with her mother. Ethelyn was a fantastic cook, she made wonderful pies. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and was an excellent seamstress and had a great sense of humor. She had a special love for animals of all kinds. She especially loved her grandchildren and was a favorite aunt of many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Rick (Maxine) Shelton, Ogden; Diane (Lou) Brown, Farmington; and Kay (Kevin) Knowlton, Sunset; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Ethelyn was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Carl Wallis.
