BRIGHAM CITY - Harriet Woolf Balls, 95, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2005 of causes incident to age. She was born August 15, 1909 in Hyde Park, Cache County, UT a daughter of Catherine Nyman and Archibald Woolf. She was raised in Hyde Park. She married Arden C. Balls December 29, 1927, in Ogden, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on April 1, 1963. Arden died April 22, 1975. She has always been an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in civic club work and also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In 1983 Harriet was honored by being chosen Mother of the Year by the Ladies Community Club and Civic Club. Harriet enjoyed being a homemaker, canning fruits, vegetables, meat and fish. She also enjoyed sewing, dressmaking and doing arts and crafts. She loved playing cards for years with her friends and family. She enjoyed going camping with her husband and friends in their trailers a fter Arden retired. After becoming a widow, she did a lot of traveling with her other widowed friends. She is survived by three daughters: Renee (Earl, deceased) Olsen, Barbara (Dwight) Holman, both of Brigham City; Margene (Bud) Siegfried, of Bountiful. She has ten grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Harriet was also preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arden Jodie Balls a son who died at the age of eight, her two brothers and her three sisters. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brigham City 8th Ward Chapel, 139 E. 300 N., Brigham City, UT. OGDEN - James Lawrence Ford, Jr., 70, died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at his home. He was born October 9, 1934 in Ogden, a son of James Lawrence Sr. and Katherine E. Lafreniere Ford. On April 20, 1956, James married Doris Prawitt in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a lifelong resident of Ogden and a graduate of Ogden High School. James was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many, many callings and loved the Scouting program. His most rewarding calling was that of Bishop. He began the James L. Ford Construction Company and worked as a contractor for many years. James loved the time he spent at Sourdough. He had a great love of animals, especially his dogs, Ginger and Gretchen. He enjoyed camping, fishing, the outdoors, spending time with his grandkids, western history, and he is still looking for the Rhodes Gold Mine. Surviving are his wife, Doris, of Ogden; one daughter and two sons, Jody (Ma rshall) Drake, West Point; Larry Ford and James Ford, both of Ogden; and five grandchildren, Nathan (Autumn) Drake, Spencer, Morgan, and Hollie Drake and Preston Ford. Forsberg, Gregory SALT LAKE CITY - Gregory Lynn Forsberg, 54, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2005 in Salt Lake City. He was born April 6, 1950 in Ogden to DuWayne and Doris Howe Forsberg. Greg was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1975. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors. Hof, Fred Delbert CLINTON - Our devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at his home on January 7, 2005. He was born April 18, 1947 in Madison, South Dakota, to Fred William and Viola Hof. He was the oldest of five children. He was an honorable MSGT in the United States Air Force and served for 21 years. He married Norma Jean Croson March 1968 in Pappilion, Nebraska. They had three children; Fred Robert, Russell Wayne, and Michelle Rene Hof. They later divorced. He married Ubon Kranrod June 21, 1978 in Roy, Utah. They had two children; John Allen and Krisana Ann Hof. As a father he enjoyed camping and fishing with his children. His hobbies in life included photography, collecting sports cards, antiques and genealogy. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and sharing stories with his Dad. He is survived by his wife Ubon Hof, sons; Fred Robert, Russell Wayne (Kerry), John Allen (Randa), daughters; Michelle Rene Inman, Krisa na Ann Preston (Matt), his grandchildren; Christina, Matthew, Cody, Brandon, Russell, Katherine, Justin, Tana, Tiffany, Jasmine, Nevaeh, Izabella and Kaiden. She was born December 12, 1923 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Burton G. and Pearl F. Hardy Wood. Cora was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a pianist for the church and worked at the Ogden Temple. She loved crocheting, reading, was a great cook, collected bells and tea cups. She retired from 3M. Surviving are three sons: Ronald L. (Robin) Jones, Huntington Beach, CA; Richard W. Jones, West Haven, UT; Robert L. (Mary Joe) Jones, Farr West, UT; niece, Betty (Larry) Skoglund, Corona, CA; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Della Qualls, Kent, WA. Killebrew, John John Lincoln Killebrew 1922 - 2005 On January 7, 2005, our dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and brother finished the race and is now home with Jesus. He was born February 22, 1922 in Canadian, Texas to Simeon Jackson Killebrew and Mabel Simmons Killebrew. John served his country as a service member in the U.S. Navy with the U.S.S. Oconto and retired from many years of civil service with the U.S. Air Force. He worked hard, loved life and made friends everywhere he went. He visited two coffee shops before 5 a.m. every morning to trade stories with his old cronies. Jay loved a great garage sale, the swap meet, metal detecting and traveling. He had a wonderful sense of humor which he used to tease his loved ones mercilessly. His family and countless friends will all miss him very much but also take comfort in knowing he is resting in Jesus' arms. We are so thankful for the strength and grace given him to face his last days with courage. Thank you Daddy and Grandpa for all you taught us. Thank you, LORD for blessing us with him. McCrary, Don NO. OGDEN - Don Cleve McCrary was mercifully called home on Thursday, January 6, 2005. His mind and body were peacefully put to rest after a struggle with the fast-accelerated deterioration of Lewey Body Dementia. Don served his country during the Korean War. He was stationed in Colorado, Texas, and Sacramento California. He was also stationed in Japan during the war. He married Margaret Jane Elswood in 1952 in Reno, Nevada and they were later sealed in the Logan Temple. He was left a widower with two young children following her untimely death due to complications of childbirth. He later married Patricia Ann Jacobs in 1961 in the Idaho Falls Temple and they were blessed with five children and their family was one. He spent most of his life in retail working for Payless Drug Stores. He was in management and was transferred frequently. He worked in many areas including, central California, Redmond Oregon, Boise Idaho, and here in Ogden where he retired in 1996 after over 34 y ears in management with Payless Drugstores. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, among which was Bishop in Bakersfield, California and a counselor in a Stake Presidency in Clovis, California. He loved the Lord and served well. He is survived by his wife Patricia and seven children: Donald (Abby), Hanford, California; Kathy (Bob) Whitezell, Bakersfield, California; Karen (Roger) Moore, Roseville, California; Robert (Maria), Bakersfield, California; David (Susan), Rocklin, California; John (Carolyn), Elk Grove, California; and Amy (Nick) Baird, Rexburg, Idaho. He is also survived by one sister Beverly (Jerry) Timmons, Nampa, Idaho; and a brother Boyd, Portage, Utah. He is survived by 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Margaret Elswood, and infant daughter Margaret, his brothers Robert and Farrell, and his sisters May Larsen and Cleo (Chase) Nielsen. He was a good, kind, mild mannered man, and hard worker. He took pride in his home and yard. He was always there for others, helping wherever he could. He would and could fix almost anything. He was a loving father, brother, husband, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed. He will be laid to rest on what would have been his 74th birthday, Tuesday January 11, 2005. Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond Stake Center located at 3610 N. 650 E. Miller, Kraig L. ENTERPRISE, Utah - Kraig L. Miller, age 55, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2005, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born August 22, 1949 in Ogden, Utah, a son of Kenneth and Betty Jean Pefley Miller. Kraig married Geraldine "Geri" Marburger on September 23, 1984, in Layton, Utah. Kraig was born, raised, and educated in Ogden, Utah, where he graduated from Weber High School. After graduation, he worked as the Supervisor of Catering at Hill Field in Layton, Utah. He later drove delivery trucks for Meadow Gold Dairy and Pepsi. He and Geri managed apartments for the next 15 years in Salt Lake City and Clearfield, Utah, and Wendover, Nevada. In 2003, Kraig temporarily retired, and they moved to Enterprise, Utah. At the time of Kraig's passing, he and Geri were both employed at Wal-Mart. A man of many interests, Kraig enjoyed hunting, fishing, exploring ghost towns, playing golf, yard work, and most anything else that he could do outdoors. He was an a vid basketball and football fan, especially when it came to the Utah Jazz and Denver Broncos. Kraig was very devoted to his family and he loved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was gruff, but gentle, a big "Teddy Bear," but definitely a man's man. Edith graduated from Morgan High School. She married Eddie Peterson on August 20, 1934. He passed away on March 31, 1979. They were the parents of three children; one son and two daughters. She was a school lunch manager in the Ogden School District for 23 years, most of that time at the Lewis School, where her reputation was such that the district officials would very often conduct their meetings at her school just to partake of her lunches. She was an active church worker serving 35 years in the Primary, including 12 of them as president. Edith was a very dedicated temple worker in the Ogden Temple. She was an Ordinance Worker for many, many years and also spent many hours as a Patron doing Temple work for others. The greatest joy of her life was her loving and devoted family and the exemplary lives they lived. Surviving are her son, Roger (Kathy) Peterson of South Jordan and daughter, Diann (Sharm) Christensen of Layton. West, Janice Cook Brimhall Janice Cook Brimhall West passed away January 7, 2005 in Roy, Utah at the age of 75. She was born October 25, 1929 in Orem, Utah to John McKinley and Chloe Susan Reynolds Cook. She married Wendell Roland Brimhall; they later divorced. She married Clifford Jack Everest West July 2, 1958. He preceded her in death in August of 1977. Janice was very gifted with her hands and used them all her life to create handiwork. For many years she was employed at various sewing factories where her skills were admired by many. Janice's most treasured hobby was that of making and teaching the art of porcelain dolls. She was a loving mother and caring grandmother. She deeply loved her siblings and enjoyed family time with them. Janice will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
