OGDEN - Effie Laurine Watson Boswell, 78, died peacefully on Monday, January 10, 2005 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 28, 1926 in Park City, a daughter of Ollie and Lillian Brennan Watson. She was raised and educated in Park City and a graduate of Park City High School Class of 1944. On March 16, 1946, Effie married Herbert LeRoy Boswell in Ogden. Herbert preceded her in death on May 27, 1993. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a two year Stake Mission and as a Primary President for many years. She also served in the Young Women's organization. She worked at Hill Air Force Base retiring in 1987 following 28 years of service. Effie volunteered every Thursday at the YCC with her best friend Jean, and enjoyed the company of the staff and clients. She made beautiful porcelain dolls and also enjoyed bowling, crocheting and dancing with her husband. Effie was a loving mother and grandmother. Surv iving are four children: Dennis L. (Kris) Boswell, Peronia, AZ; Cheri L. Hart, Ogden; Kevin L. (Dixie) Boswell, Ogden; Bradley L. (Caron) Boswell, Riverdale; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, one sister and three brothers. Busby, Florence Florence Busby On January 9, 2005, our dearly loved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma went to join her husband, parents and friends. Florence was born on January 31, 1920 in Pocatello, Idaho. She later married Wayne C. Busby on June 7, 1941, where they then began their family. Florence enjoyed camping, gardening, crocheting, and cooking for her family. She has made a remarkable impact on the lives of those who have had the pleasure of loving her. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Harry) Cure; Carolyn Thomson; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Coleman, Michael Chris Michael Chris Coleman, 38, died January 9, 2005 in the mountains he so loved. He was born April 11, 1966 in Salt Lake City the son of Sherwin W. and Lola Coleman. Michael married Jennifer Anderson on January 20, 1996 in Ogden, Utah. He served a LDS mission in Japan Tokyo North. Surviving are his wife, Jennifer, children, Joshua (14), Kayleigh (12), Nicholas (11), Sydney (5), mother, Lola Coleman, brothers, Clair (Patti) Coleman, Kent Coleman, Craig (Kristie) Coleman and sister, Patricia (Ken) LeLaCheur. Dalton, Jeffrey L. Jeffrey L. Dalton passed from this mortal life on January 8, 2005. He was 51 years of age. He was born on May 23, 1953 in Provo, Utah to Gerald J. Dalton and M. Joyce Wilson Dalton. His early education was attained in the Kaysville and Burton elementary schools, Kaysville Jr. High, and Davis High School. He attended Weber State for a while but decided to take a brick laying course and become a brick mason and has made his living in construction projects mainly throughout the Ogden Valley. His musical talents were recognized early on and he began taking piano lessons at age eight and continued on through high school. He became quite accomplished and enjoyed playing for people and at one time played with bands. He also learned to play the drums and played in the junior high school band. He enjoyed all kinds of music and continued to play keyboards throughout his life. Jeff met Jan Luzenski, the love of his life, in 1995 and they enjoyed a beautiful marriage for eleve n years until the time of her death. Jeff always loved the open spaces, and fishing, camping, and golfing. Jeff is survived by his son Ian Scott Dalton (the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division at Fort Bragg, NC) and a daughter Krystal Leigh Dalton, Honeyville, UT, from previous marriages; and two stepsons, Jason Robert (Melissa) Luzenski, CA; Jeremy Luzenski, Ogden; his mother, Joyce Eldredge and stepfather, Andrew Eldredge; one sister Annette (Marc) Mayer, Fort Collins, CO; and two grandchildren and three nephews. OGDEN - Arthur Eugene Goss, born on April 10, 1932 in Actworth, Georgia; son of Melvin and Mary Milam Goss, passed away on January 6, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. Art lived life to the fullest, even while spending the last two years battling cancer. He married Ottline Denton and from that marriage was born a daughter, Margaret Marie Goss of Birmingham, Alabama. They were later divorced and he married June Lloyd. From this marriage two daughters were born, Sharon (Gary) Howell of Sunset and Tamera (Billie) Ward of Layton. Arthur was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. He served as a U.S. Marine, and was a former member of the Ogden and Roy Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) He worked for Southern Pacific R.R. and retired from the Union Pacific R.R. in 1995. He is survived by his life companion and caregiver June Goss, his 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren (Marissa, Sarah and Michael Howell of Sunset; Eric (Brittany) Cooper, Kole Coope r, Crystal and Antonio Sacco, Micale and Bridger Ward all of Layton) and 2 great grandchildren (Madison and Bren Howell of Sunset). Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters (Frank (Helen) Goss, Florence, SC; James (Sheila) Goss , Lancester, CA; Betty Cope, Ogden, UT; Rosemary Ewing-Hadley, Taylor, UT; and Madelyn McLeod, Cartersville, GA). Hamblin, Leda Lavon Jones CLEARFIELD - Leda Lavon Jones Hamblin, age 91, passed away January 11, 2005 peacefully at her home. She was born June 17, 1913 in Roy, to Arthur George and Julia May Garner Jones. She married Peter Richard Hamblin, on August 28, 1929, in the Salt Lake City, LDS Temple. She was a member of the LDS Church in the Clearfield 1st Ward. She served many years in temple work at the Ogden LDS Temple, compassionate service in Relief Society. Throughout her life she enjoyed ceramics, quilting, writing, poetry, and spending time with her family. She is survived by two sons, Lloyd and wife Wilda Hamblin, Salt Lake City; George and wife Marian Hamblin, Syracuse; two daughters, Norma and husband Larry Ashdown, Sunset; Kate and husband Paul Hutchison, Clearfield; 15 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Grant Jones, Ogden; and sister, Cora Coxey, Ogden. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandchildren, thre e sisters and one brother. Hayward, Karen Karen Hayward Ogden, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully went to join her parents and loved ones on January 5, 2005 at Infina Care in Ogden after a battle with illness. Karen was 61. Karen was born April 3, 1943 at Dee hospital in Ogden to Willis Ivan Lowry, and Ruth Marchant Lowry. Karen was married in September 1960 to Robert Alden Hayward; they were later divorced, but never far apart. Karen raised her 2 children in Farmington, Utah. Karen worked for many years in restaurants in Davis and Weber County. Karen was very proud of having gone back to school to finish high school, and then received her degree from Salt Lake Community College. Karen worked for Salt Lake Community College for 14 years. Karen most recently worked at Kings in Layton. Karen did ceramics and even taught a class for a while at the deaf and blind school in Ogden. Karen used to bowl, she went with her children to ADBA dog shows, and she liked miniature s. Karen will be dearly missed as she was taken too soon. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Willis Ivan Lowry and Ruth Marchant Lowry, and her younger brother Milton Lowry. Karen leaves behind her ex-husband Robert Alden Hayward (Clearfield), one daughter Delores (Hayward, Doney) DeVaul (North Ogden), one son Ricky Allen Hayward (Clearfield), five grand children Tisha Doney(Ralph) Wallace (Tremonton), BillJo (Jessica) Doney (Magna), Bruce DeVaul (Clearfield), Brett DeVaul (Orem), Mary Hayward (Spokane, WA), six great grandchildren, 12 brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was born March 19, 1919 in Morgan, Utah to George Charles Turner and Lucy Malinda Robison Turner. She married Jesse Dean Wade, later divorced. Married LeRoy Smith, he preceded her in death. Married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple to A. Arnold Hunt, he also preceded her in death. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in many positions. She was a long time member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She is survived by daughters and son, Diane ( David) Dangerfield; Suzanne (Craig) Jensen, Fred (Angela) Wade, Jeralynn (Bruce) Dunn, Janet Smith; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. She was born June 10, 1928 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of LeRoy Albert and Margaret Rita Nelson Wilson. Margaret married Maxwell Pohl. They were later divorced. She had lived in Salt Lake City, Ogden, South Ogden, and in 1998 moved to Everett, Washington. She was a graduated of Weber High School. Margaret was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Ogden 14th, 38th and 58th Wards. She had worked at Defense Depot Ogden and Hill Air Force Base. Margaret had always been a pet lover of dogs and cats. Surviving are one son, Douglas Pohl, Everett, WA; and one grandson, Philip Nelson Pohl, Seattle WA. Margaret is also survived by one brother, L.A. Bert Wilson, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents. Roush, Matthew Bruce Matthew Bruce Roush, 41, died suddenly January 8, 2005, in Cancun, Mexico, of a heart attack. He was born on October 21, 1963, in Ogden, Utah, to Robert R. and Jerrilyn K. Roush. Matt was raised in Ogden, graduating from Bonneville High School in 1982. He was the Seminary Student Body President, First Team All-State Defensive End in Football, and the State Sterling Scholar in Science. Matt served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala. While attending Brigham Young University he was a member of the BYU football team. After his graduation from BYU in 1987 he attended medical school at the University of Utah graduating in 1991. He completed a three year residency in family practice in Phoenix, Arizona. Matt combined his love of sports and medicine by completing a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana in 1995. After his medical training, he took a position as co-director of the fellowship in Muncie. He loved working with all of his patients in his Family and Sports Medicine clinic during the eight years he practiced in Indiana. As much as he loved medicine, his heart was always with his family. He married his wife of eighteen years, Tiffany Ann Barlow on August 7, 1986 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with six wonderful children. They resided in Muncie, IN from 1994 until 2003. They moved to Provo, UT one year ago where he has been the Sports Medicine Fellowship Director at Utah Valley Sports Medicine and a Sports Doctor for BYU and UVSC. Matt's other great love was service in his church; including the young men's program, the bishopric, the high council and a home teacher. His favorite church calling was that of a teacher, especially with the young men, where he served in various capacities and was a great leader and example. Matt had a passion for missionary work and loved to talk about the gospel wherever he went. He approached everything he did with his full heart and intensity. He loved people and he loved life. He left his children and all those associated with him a noble legacy. At the time of his death, Matt had brought his family back home to Utah, was serving his beloved BYU and had even watched the Red Sox win the World Series. He is survived by his wife, Tiffany; his six children, Benjamin, 16, Eli, 14, Caleb, 11, Madison, 8, Brittany, 5, and Samuel, 18 months; parents, Robert and Jerrilyn Roush; siblings, Timothy R. Roush (Laura) of Rochester Hills, MI, Kimberly R. Shields (Scott) of Mesa, AZ, and Andrew G. Roush (Jennifer) of Syracuse, UT; Tiffany's parents, Myron and Nancy Barlow; his grandmother, Geraldine K. Gunn of Highland, UT; and by many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins. Whitesides, Rita CLEARFIELD - With Family beside her, our angel Rita Fay Whitesides at the age of 62 passed away peacefully, and was finally released from her pain, on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. She was born June 15, 1942 in Bisbee, Arizona to Arthur David Tidmore and Elsie May Gammon Tidmore. She married Gerald Zabel in January 1960; they later divorced. She married Craig Whitesides in September 1974; they later divorced. Rita's first love was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the holidays with her family. She was a wonderful seamstress and the Utah Jazz's 1 Fan. She also enjoyed horses and was a member of the Boots & Saddles Riding Club. She worked many years as a waitress. Her last job was at Denny's in Ogden, UT. She enjoyed and loved all the people she worked with; her beautiful smile touched everyone around her. She will be remembered for her strong unconditional love for every one. Survived by her tw o daughters and their husbands, Robyn and Kevan, Sherie and Kevin; one brother Carl Curtis and one sister Naomi. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Justin, Misty, Kasey, Shantelle, Camie, Kristin; Four great-grandchildren, Carlee, Alexis, Elizabeth, Collin; and was looking forward to the arrival of two more great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her companion, Tipsy the cat. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Wanda.
