She was born April 3, 1916 in Ogden, Utah to Albert Franklin Wade and Berendina Vogelzang. She grew up on a farm in Warren, Utah - the oldest of seven children. Her own mother was in poor health and passed away when Lorene was 15 after which she took on many of the duties of raising her younger brothers and sisters. She graduated from Weber High School in 1934 where she was active in debate and was editor of the school newspaper. She thereafter worked her way through Weber State College receiving an associate degree in business in 1936. During her time at college she met Lynn T. Farr through mutual friends starting a lengthy courtship culminating in their marriage on June 20, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three children together and their home became the gathering place for the Farr and Wade clans. Their family was the pride and joy of t heir lives. After graduation she worked at Metropolitan Life until the birth of her first child in 1942. Later she returned to Metropolitan, retiring in 1981 with 31 years of service - the last 15 as office manager. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings - especially in the Young Women's organization. She and Lynn were great examples in reaching out to neighbors who came to Utah from other cultures and had many friends. They were active in the Knife and Fork Club, Exchange Club, and square dancing. Lorene was active in the Lady Lions, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Altruist Club, and Literary Questers. She enjoyed gardening - earning her Master Gardner certificate from the USU Extension Service and thereafter conducting lectures and demonstrations at their horticulture center. Lorene was widowed in 1990. Two years later she married Elmer H. Barlow. With Elmer she tried many new things - traveling the back roads of th e west, living out of a camper, and becoming snowbirds in Quartzsite, AZ until his passing in 2002. Lorene is survived by her children, Fred (Bonnie) Farr, Stephen (Judy) Farr, Deanne (Carl) Smith; sister, Isabel Merrell; brother, Harold R. Wade; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her English daughter, Shelagh Cobb. She was preceded in death by her husbands; brother, Robert Wade; and sisters, Rae Neilson, Donna Brown, and Carol Mouser Wilson. OGDEN - Dorothy Lucille Anderson Christensen "Grandma Cookie" 87, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 17, 1917, in Shelley, Idaho, a daughter of John Arthur and Ellen Ingelstrom Anderson. She was reared and educated in Shelley, Idaho. Dorothy married Erick James Christensen on August 29, 1934, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Branch. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, being with her family and friends, helping others, playing pinochle, going to Wendover with her daughter Jean and sister Myrtle, visiting Ross and MaryLou in Arizona, talking to her sister Violet, and eating out at Kay's Noodle Parlor and The Dragon Restaurant. She had worked as midwife, took in laundry, and worked at the Canning Factory in Ogden. Her favorite thing was being a homemaker and mother, which she excelled at. Surviving ar e one son and two daughters: Brent Erick (Kathy) Christensen, Clearfield; Mrs. Charles (Jean) Dunaway, Farr West; Mrs. Ross (MaryLou) Pearce, Mesa, AZ; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Jose (Violet) Baker, Renton, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband Erick, and by their daughter Sharon Ellen Christensen, two brothers and three sisters. OGDEN - James Uno McKinley, 71, died Monday, January 10, 2005 at his home in Ogden. He was born April 16, 1933 in Atchison, Kansas, a son of Wallace C. and Charlotte Butler McKinley. In 1969, James married Truong Thi Ty in Vietnam. He was a maintenance management specialist working for Hill Air Force Base for 35 years. James loved to write. Surviving are his wife, Truong, of Ogden; two sons, Phillip McKinley, Ogden; Steve McKinley, Cedar City; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Earl McKinley, Ogden; and Chuck McKinley, Sunset. Preceding him in death were his son Doug, his parents, one brother Rolland and sister Sybil. Stallings, Lowell G. EDEN - Lowell G. Stallings, 85, died peacefully at home Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 holding his sweetheart's hand. He was born in Eden, Utah to Elizabeth Ann Carver and George F. Stallings on August 8, 1919. Six adoring sisters welcomed him to the family. He worked on the family farm with his father and always had amazing energy and stamina. he graduated from Utah State University, then called the Agricultural College. One of the highlights of his life was serving an LDS mission to the Japanese people in Hawaii from 1939 to 1942. He cherished the many friends he made there. He married Margaret Grow in 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September. Lowell's Holstein dairy farm was one of the finest. After he retired from dairy farming, he raised alfalfa and barley, doing most of the irrigating himself until this past year. He loved to work and was happiest on his tractor. His flower garden and the birds that visited the fe eders in his yard were a joy to him. He loved sports, although he had little leisure time to spend on them, and he was adventuresome enough to learn to water ski at 62. He was Director of Weber Central Dairy and active in the Farm Bureau and president of the Weber County Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He was Director of the Eden Irrigation Company and active in the Soil Conservation District for 10 years. He served as bishop of the Eden Ward, a high counselor in the Ogden Stake, and as a counselor in the Huntsville Utah Stake Presidency, as well as many other callings in the LDS Church. He especially enjoyed working in the Ogden Temple. We will miss his hand-dipped chocolates and eating ice cream with him. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Eden; sister Marion King of Garland. Children: George of Eden; Jan Wight (Richard), Ogden; Sharon Vause (Brad), Eden; and Sandra Jenkins (David), Eden; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sist ers: Inez Brown, Zenia Gardner, Doris Ferrin, Ortell McKay and Lila Shupe. Stites, Oral Mae Together Again OGDEN - Oral Mae Asay Stites, 85, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at a local care center. She was born March 17, 1919 in Kanna Creek, CO, a daughter of Isaac Allen and Emma Lucinda Gillespie Asay. She lived most of her life in Ogden. On February 2, 1935, Oral married George Stites in Wellington, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. George preceded her in death on December 10, 2002. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission with her husband to the Dallas, Texas Temple in 1985. She returned to Ogden to serve as a temple worker in the Ogden Temple. Oral worked as a cook and manager for the Ogden City Public Schools, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Woodsman of the World and Good Sam Camping Association. She loved to bowl with her husband and had won many trophies. She also loved to camp, hunt, work in her yard in her flowers gardens, and loved doing thing s for other people. Surviving are three sons, Harold (Valerie) Stites, Ogden; Wesley Stites, Ogden; Allen (Diane) Stites, Roy; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Simpson Stites, Roy; 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mona Ellis, Ogden; and Lola Kennedy, Portland, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Linda Nichols, one grandson, one great-great-granddaughter, and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Stromberg passed into Heaven on January 10, 2005, where he waits for his loving wife of over 64 years, Katherine M. Stromberg. Mr. Stromberg was born in Hunstville, UT on June 19, 1916 and spent most of his 88 years in Ogden, UT, where he worked as a carpenter with his brother, Elroy. He and his wife moved to Virginia almost five years ago to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Bob Pomietto. He was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden from 1936-39, an experience he loved and talked about his whole life. He married for time and all eternity on May 22, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. This loving, humble man will be sorely missed by those who loved and survive him: his wife, Katherine; two sisters of Odgen, Elma Clarke and Mildred Harrop; a sister-in-law, Martha Stromberg of Ogden; a son, Dave Stromberg of Spokane, WA; a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Mary Kaye Stromberg of Murray, Utah; Bob and Mary Beth Pomietto of Dumfries, VA; grandchildren, Brandon and Suzie Stromberg of Jacksonville, FL; Blakely and Lincoln Pomietto of Virginia; Debbie Rosenberg of Portland, OR; two great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2005, at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd, Dale City. Wayment, Russell WARREN - Russell Wayment, died Sunday, January 9, 2005, at his home in Warren, Utah. He died of natural causes. He was born December 19, 1910 in Warren, Utah, to William and Elsie Wade Wayment. Russell married Florence Flowers on March 25, 1938. She passed away 27 years ago. His children are Glynn F. (Chyrrl) Wayment, Stanton Wayment, Dr. Lowell (Linda) Wayment, John (Carrie) Wayment, and Joan (Dr. David Hatt, deceased) Hatt. His son Stanton preceded him in death. Russell has 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Russell was a dairyman and farmer all of his life. He took great pride in his herd of dairy cows. He loved working in the fields raising hay, grain, corn, tomatoes, and sugar beets. Russell loved being involved in the community. He served on many committees, some of which included the Farm Bureau, Weber River Water Commissioner, and Beet Growers. Weber County Zoning Board was one of his favorite committees. Russell loved to play baseball. He play o n school team and participated with the Old Timer's baseball team. One of the highlights of his life was the opportunity to represent the United States on a people to people mission to Russia, Czechoslovakia, and six other European Countries. He loved meeting with the agricultural representatives. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was also very important to Russell. He served in many leadership capacities. He enjoyed the opportunity to support missionaries as they served the Lord. Russell loved being with his children and grandchildren. He continued to be a part of their lives until his death. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Warren Ward Chapel, 900 North 5900 West. A viewing will be held Friday at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel from 10 to 10:45 a.m. He will be buried in the Warren Cemetery next to his wife Florence, and his son Stanton.
