He was born August 20, 1922 in Cornish, Utah, the son of Ray E. and Hazel Cunningham Bingham. On November 27, 1946, Paul married Norma Peterson in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He honorably served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as a top turret gunner on a Mitchell B-25 with the 345th squadron. He also served with the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He retired from flight test as an Aircraft Mechanic, at Hill Air Force Base, after 32 years of service. Paul was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cedar Crest Ward. He enjoyed fishing and camping. His greatest treasure was his family and they will greatly miss his wit and words of wisdom. Paul is survived by his wife, Norma; two daughters, Paula (Ken) Bird, Roy; Sandra (David) Despain, El Centro, CA; eight grandchildren; four gre at-grandchildren; and a sister, Velma Wheeler, Preston, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roy and Don, and two sisters, Edith Pearce and Lucile Hebdon. Blackman, Barbara B. OGDEN - Barbara Beryl Blackman, 86, died Sunday, January 16, 2005. She was born in Ogden, Utah to Fred Browning Blackman and Ellen Jane Randall Blackman. She had lived her entire life in Ogden City. Both of her parents preceded her in death. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1936, Weber College in 1938 and the University of Utah in 1940. She also received a M.S. Degree in Psychology and Counseling from the University of Utah in 1956. She taught school at Lincoln School in 1940-41; Lorin Farr School 1941-46; Washington Jr. High School 1946-51; and Central Junior High School 1951-56. She became the Counselor at Central Junior High in 1956 and also the first woman counselor in a junior high school in Ogden City. She served a term as building representative to the Ogden Education Association from each school in which she taught. From 1970 until her retirement in 1976 she also served as Data Processing Coordinator at Central, as well as counselor. From 1944 to 1955 Barbara worked part time as payroll tax accountant at L.R. Samuels. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Queen Esther Chapter #4 O.E.S. She had also held membership in Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, Ogden Education Association, Utah Education Association and National Education Association, and the Utah Counselors' Association. Surviving are her cousins, Iola Wagner, Roy; Donna (Grant) McGill, Ogden; Mary Lou (Dale) Cowgill, Salt Lake City; Judy Waddups, Salt Lake City; Virginia Rozynek, North Ogden; and her close friend, Carolyn Jachim, Roy. Cardall, Marilyn Rae Marilyn Rae Cardall Our dear wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, stepmother and stepgrandmother, Marilyn Rae Beckstead Cardall, 47, returned home suddenly to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan 16, 2005. She was born May 24, 1957 in Casper, Wyoming. She grew up in Santaquin, Utah and attended Payson High School. She lived 5 years in Wichita, Kansas at which time she worked at Avcon as a sheet metal mechanic. She then moved back to Utah and enlisted in the Air Force and continued her profession at Hill Air Force Base where she was recognized and awarded the first female outstanding Airman of the Year award in 1982. She later accepted a medical retirement from Hill Air Force Base. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving the Lord. She loved attending the temple where she found great peace and strength. Marilyn was a loving and giving mother and grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her husband, Bill Cardall of Roy; four children, Shad (Rochelle) Jenkins of Roy; Jayson (Jacquie) Verbeck of Wichita, Kansas; Jarame Verbeck of Wichita, Kansas; Jandi Wayment (Aaron Ashby) of Ogden; five grandchildren, Clayton, Autry, Braxton Verbeck, Addison Verbeck and Quintin Ashby; her grandmother, Edna Robertson of American Fork; father, Don C. Kallmeyer, Thomas Edward OGDEN - Thomas Kallmeyer died on January 15, 2005 in Ogden, UT. He was born July 28, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Thomas Edward Kallmeyer and Helen Egbert Kallmeyer. After graduating from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in aeronautical engineering, he went to work for Lockheed Propulsion Company in Southern, California. He later obtained a masters degree in aeronautical engineering from USC. It was in California that he met and later married his wife, Christine Alford, in 1964. In 1972, the family moved to Utah, where Tom worked for Thiokol Corporation and retired as manager of Motor Performance in 1997. Tom enjoyed the open country of the West, hunting, camping, and building his dream cabin in Idaho. He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the world following his retirement. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Katherine (Ken) and his son, Alan (Angela) and by five grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at the Kall meyer residence at 4954 Partridge Way in Ogden, on Saturday, January 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. Friends are invited to attend. Medd, Michael OGDEN - Michael Jo Medd, at the age of 53, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005. He was born on March 27, 1951 in San Francisco, CA to William E. and Beatrice Lorraine Collins Medd. In his early 20's, he traveled around the world, playing in a jazz band which performed on a cruise ship and many night clubs. Later, he joined the U.S. Army, retiring with 16 years of dedicated service. His tours included the 82nd Airborne, Communications units, and signal units. He had been stationed in North Carolina, Germany, Maryland, and finally, Utah. He married Hilda Faye Felts on January 10, 1977 in Fort Bragg, NC. Michael enjoyed movies and books in the subjects of sci-fi and horror, computers, and sports. In Utah, his pastimes included hunting, fishing, and baseball. Surviving are his wife, Hilda Faye Medd, and his only daughter, Melody Nicole Medd of Ogden. Also, his only brother, Bill Collins of California, and his aunt and uncle, Betty and Wally Coulman of California. Cr emation was performed under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Ogden. Norman, age 75, passed away on Jan. 16, 2005. He was a native of Utah. Nichols Reynolds returned to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 on the anniversary date of being sealed for time and all eternity to her beloved husband Albert Reynolds. She was born on November 2, 1924 in Hamilton, Ontario Canada to Percy Pearson Nichols and Bertha Eaton. She married Albert Wright Reynolds on June 7, 1947 in Hamilton. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles, CA LDS Temple on January 18, 1969. She moved to Southern California, in 1957 with her husband and two daughters. She served faithfully in her church callings and enjoyed the opportunity of working with three Relief Society Presidencies as secretary. She loved reading, genealogy work, knitting, baking, and especially her family. Following her husbands death in 1989 she moved to Layton, Utah to live with her youngest daughter, Patti. She is survived by her beloved sister, Dorothy Mines, Ontario, Canada; daughters, Dianne (Bill) Strohfus, Alta Loma, CA; Patti (Greg) Hall, Layton, UT; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren with her ninth great-grandchild expected in May and many nieces and nephews. Smith, Malcolm S. Malcolm S. Smith "Smitty" HUNTSVILLE -, age 65 passed away after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer, On January 18, 2005. We all admire his strength and willpower throughout his life. If you could survive on willpower alone, he would have outlived us all. He was born in Portland, Maine on October 19, 1939 to John Stanley Smith and Arline Francis Jack Smith. He graduated in 1958 from Kent Hill Preparatory School. He joined the Coast Guard in 1958 and proudly served our country until 1964. He married Karen Lee Harbertson on September 17, 1966, they were later divorced. He had many occupations including working as a stage hand for many Hollywood TV shows such as Joey Bishop, Smothers Brothers, Mamas & Papas, Carol Burnett Show and other theatrical productions. He then moved to Huntsville, Utah where he managed the Red Rock Cafe in Southern Fork Canyon. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad, and Internal Revenue Service. He medically retired in 1989. H e was proud member of the Ogden FOE #2472, and a dedicated member of American Legion Post #129 where he served as a member of the honor guard. He had an immense love for his children and grandchildren. We will always have a great memory of him driving his truck with the dog's riding in the back. The saying "A Dog is a Man's Best Friend" was a true motto he lived by. He had a great love for horses and was a member of the Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed breeding his brood mares to his stallion and always looked forward to the spring to see the new foals. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed the summers at the FOE trailer park. He fulfilled his dream of buying a RV and traveling the United States. He was able to reconnect with his sister and nephews on the East Coast and revisit his birthplace. He is survived by two sons, Tyler (Mavanee) Smith and Lee (Colleen) Smith all from Roy, and six grandchildren, Kolton, Michael, Skyler, Tasia, Carlee & Caity. Also surviving is his best friend and onl y sibling Maggie Lohkamp (our Pillar of strength through this difficult time.) He also has five wonderful nephews; Mark, Joe, Rick (Jen), Dave (Robin), Bert (Kim) one grandnephew and five grandnieces. He was preceded in death by both his parents and one brother-in-law Robert Lohkamp. We would like to express thanks to the staff of Dr. Gray, Dr. Senekjian, Dr. Wood, Dr. Ingersal, Mckay Dee Hospital, U of U, National Kidney Foundation, the families of the two kidney donors who gave us an extra 15 years to spend with our dad and for him to know his grandchildren. She was born March 22, 1931, in Tilburg, Netherlands, a daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Blaauhuit Leenaards.. She married Sef J. VanderStappen on April 14, 1955, in Tilburg, Netherlands. He died Oct. 19, 2001. She had lived in Ogden for 50 years and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where she was active in the weekly Bingo games at the church. Surviving are two sons and one daughter, John (Jeanne) VanderStappen, Murrieta, California; Raymond VanderStappen, Ogden, Betty (Edward) Dorsey, Pueblo, Colorado; one grandchild, Jessica Dorsey; one brother and two sisters, Peter (Tini) Leenaards, Jose (Rien) Paapen, and Ans (Frans) Phillippson, all of Tilburg, Netherlands. Williams, Avis Arlene Avis Arlene Japhet Williams WEST HAVEN -, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 17, 2005. She was born November 6, 1923 in Scott City, Kansas to Frank Charles Japhet and Cecyle Susan Young. She lost her mother at a very young age and was lovingly raised by her Aunt Mabel and Uncle Harley Wilcox. Avis was raised and schooled in Seneca, Kansas, graduating from Seneca High school with high honors. She was a member of the Methodist congregation and often sang with the choir. Following her graduation she attended business school in Denver, Colorado. Upon returning to Kansas, she worked as an office manager in a doctor's office. Avis met her husband of 55 years, Jack Wesley Williams, at Fort Riley, Kansas. Avis and Jack were married November 14, 1942. Jack passed away October 23, 1997. Their first child, Jack Jr. was born while his father was serving over seas in Germany during WWII. Following the war they moved to Idaho for a short time, then settled in Utah. Mom always said that her greatest accomplishment and joy in life, was raising her four sons. Avis was a very loving, caring, giving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Avis is survived by three sons, Jack W. (Sue) Williams, West Haven; David E. (Joy) Williams, Bountiful; Michael J. (Christina) Williams, North Salt Lake; 12 grandchildren, Jodie, Patty, Donnie, Johnnie, Sherri, Chad, Cindy, Greg, Kristi, Aimee, Jason and Nick; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Lilian (Aunty) Gibson, Topeka, Kansas; a brother, Donald Japhet, Durango, Colorado. Wood, 88, passed away January 17, 2005 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by his beloved wife and family. Dean was born in Garland, Utah, October 31, 1916, to Willard LeGrand and Electa Hall Wood. He attended schools in Garland and Bear River High School. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Brown on June 1, 1938, in the Logan LDS Temple. They are the proud parents of three daughters, Judean (deceassed); Geraldean (Quane) Kenyon, Boise, Idaho; Geneal (John) Newman, Alpine, Utah; Willard (Tonya) Wood, Springville, Utah; Scott (Melissa) Wood, Rexburg, Idaho. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dean served in the Hawaiian Islands during WWII and worked at Fort Douglass Utah for 35 years. He worked as the Fort Douglass Fire Chief and Fire and Safety Engineer. He also served as the Bishop of the Colonial Hills 2nd Ward in Hillside Stake, and held many other Church callings. He and his wife served a two-year welfare mis sion for the Liberty Stake in Salt Lake City. He enjoyed 12 great years as a Temple Worker in the Ogden and Bountiful Temples. He will be remembered for the many fishing trips to Strawberry Lake to his tiny cabin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He taught many young men the fundamentals of safe hunting and successful fishing. Dean is survived by his wife of 67 years, his two daughters, two sons, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one sister, Erla Reed, and two sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Wood and Virgina Brown. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judean, his parents; three brothers, LeGrand Wood, Mark Wood, and Darold Wood; one sister, Merle Choate; a son-in-law, L. Glade Dunn; a sister-in-law Melva Brown; and brother-in-law, Knowlton H. Brown. As a family, we wish to thank the gracious staff of the Lakeview Hospital and the Vista Care Hospice staff; they all worked hard to make Dad's last days as comfortable as possible. Woolsey, Inez Etta Hart Inez Etta (Inetta) Hart Woolsey OGDEN, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away at the age of 84 on Wednesday, January 19, 2005. She was born June 17, 1920 in Thayne, Wyoming - the eleventh child and only daughter of Isaac and Inez Wright Hart. Her family moved to West Weber, Utah shortly after she was born and later moved to Ogden when she was three years old. She attended the Ogden City Schools graduating from Ogden High School in 1939. While attending Washington Jr. High, she met her husband, Walter Hill Woolsey. They remained sweethearts throughout their high school days and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 14, 1942. While in high school, she participated in Ogden High School's Girls' Pep Club and the Girls' Social Club. After her husband enlisted in the U.S. Navy, she moved to Seattle, Washington to be closer to him. While there, she worked at the Alaskan Copper Works. They then moved to Depoe Bay, Oregon. After her husband was shipped overseas due to WWII, she returned to Ogden to wait for his return. Upon her husband's return, they settled in Ogden, Utah. She was an active member of the LDS Church having served in various positions in the Sunday School, Primary, YWMIA, and Relief Society of various Wards throughout her life. She worked for fifteen years at Z.C.M.I. as a salesclerk. She especially enjoyed working in the bridal gown department, where she helped young ladies prepare for their wedding. She and her husband moved to the Harrison Regent Retirement Center a few months ago, where she was loved by many. She was an example of Christ-like love and kindness to everyone. She was always anxious to be making and giving gifts to many of her friends and neighbors. Her love and sweet spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her husband, Walter Hill Woolsey, three daughters: Carol Fern (Bob) Buroker of Portland, Oregon; Calleen (Art) Jones of Paradise, Utah; Patric ia (Scott) Handy of Ogden; two sons: Michael (Cindy) Woolsey of Ogden; Kelly (Jill) Woolsey of Stanwood, Washington; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Her parents, ten brothers, and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
