Baird, 64, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2005 at University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City from a sudden illness. A father who taught me all I needed to know about faith and hard work by the simple eloquence of his example. Mario Cuomo. He was born August 8, 1940 in Ogden to Clarence W. and Alice Mortenson Baird. He married Joan Waggoner on November 8, 1963 in Pacific Grove, California. They divorced in 2004, but remained good friends. Bruce spent his youth in Ogden and later moved to the Marriott area. He graduated from Ogden High in 1958 and he attended Weber College. He loved playing baseball and he earned his letters in the sport, but a knee injury dashed his hopes of a professional career. He played little league and junior league baseball. He was a member of the LDS Church. Bruce loved all sports, especially watching the Utah Jazz and football. He enjoyed camping, his cars and cooking, but his biggest hobby was his grandki ds and golf competed for his time. Surviving are his ex-wife and good friend, Joan of Clearfield; one son and three daughters, Brett Bruce (Londalee) Baird, Plain City; Kelly (Danny) Price, West Haven; Chera Baird (fiance Mike Ballingham), Clearfield; Alisa (Rhett) Rivera, Ogden; and seven grandchildren, Sydney, Cody, Miranda, Chelsee, Breanna, Brooklyn, and Charlotte. Also surviving are his special brother-in-law, Ren (Jean) Richins; one sister, Karen Baird, Ogden; one sister-in-law, LuJeanne Peters, Clinton; his mother-in-law, Opal Waggoner; sister and brothers-in-law, Joyce (Joe) Pickett, LeRoy (Joy) Waggoner, Fred (Dee) Waggoner, Robert (Kathy) Waggoner; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Monte Brown, Ron Bradshaw, Jerry Wilson, Tom Dalton; and his golfing buddies, Ernie, Dave, Boyd, Steve, Bruce, Kamran and many others. Thomas SALT LAKE CITY - George Thomas Blanch, Jr., M.D., passed away peacefully in his home in Salt Lake City on January 19, 2005, after spending more than three years fighting health complications relating to a heart attack and heart transplant. He was 68 years old. Tom Blanch was born December 18, 1936 in Logan, Utah, to George Thomas Blanch, Sr., and Eva Baxter Blanch. Tom grew up in Logan as the eldest of three children, with younger sister Barbara and younger brother Joe. Tom always excelled academically, and after his graduation from Logan High School, he attended Utah State University, where he majored in zoology with an emphasis in genetics. Following college, Tom attended the University of Utah Medical School, where he graduated first in his class and delivered the graduation address to his fellow students. While in medical school Tom met Mary Cristine Wadsworth, who swept him off his feet and became the love of his life. Tom and Cristie were married shortly b efore his medical school graduation, and they moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where Tom did his residency with the Harvard Medical Service, where he served a year as Chief Resident. Prior to completing his residency, Tom took a one-year leave to attend Johns Hopkins University and earn a Masters of Public Health degree. Following his residency, Tom spent two years in San Antonio, Texas as a Major in the United States Army. Tom and Cristie returned to Utah in 1971, and Tom spent two years completing a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Utah. After that, Tom joined the staff of the Ogden Clinic, where he practiced internal medicine and cardiology for more than 25 years and treated hundreds of patients who dearly loved him. During this time, Tom also had a faculty appointment at the University of Utah Medical School and spent a period as President of the Medical Staff at McKay-Dee Hospital. In approximately 1999, Tom left the Ogden Clinic to help run the Senior Clinic at Ogden Regi onal Medical Center. Tom relished that opportunity and continued at Ogden Regional until health problems forced him into retirement in late 2001. The greatest tragedy of Tom's life came in early 2001, with Cristie's untimely death from cancer. We believe the difficulties and sorrows resulting from that experience led directly to Tom's own health crisis only six months later. Tom leaves behind his and Cristie's three children, James Thomas Blanch (Julianne) and Dr. Jonathan Wadsworth Blanch (Laine) of Salt Lake City, and Sarah Elizabeth Blanch of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving are his sister and brother, Barbara Robertson of Orange, California, and Dr. Joseph P. Blanch of Logan, Utah. Preceding Tom in death were his parents and an infant daughter, Laura Elizabeth Blanch, who was born prematurely and passed away in 1969. We will miss our father and brother terribly. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Wa shington Blvd., in Ogden, Utah. Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from Noon to 12:45 p.m. Tom will be buried in the Logan City Cemetery. Peaslee, Michael Eugene 10/18/69 - 01/19/05 Michael Eugene Peaslee, after a lifetime of physical hardship, passed away with grace on January 19, 2005, with his mother and father holding his hand. He was 35 years old. Michael was born in Salt Lake City on October 18, 1969, to Robert and Marla Peaslee. But, no matter the job or location, there was always one constant - his ability to make friends with his coworkers. A number of those friendships continued long after working together had stopped. Michael was generous with his friends, too; he listened often and without complaint, and gave wholeheartedly when he sensed even a hint of need. At home, he found joy in front of a screen, whether that was watching one of his many movi es or surfing the internet. But his real pleasure in life was time with his family, going to the Cineplex with his dad, teasing his mom, and playing with his dog.
